"Her last words"
This is my first request so I hope I did alright. Thank you for requesting @conanmycat hope you enjoy!
Patton sat on his bed late at night while the others were asleep, he didn't want to disturb them with his silly problems.
So he began to sing, "Just an average boy, he always wore a smile. He was cheerful and happy for a short while, now he's older, things are getting colder. Life's not what he thought, he wished someone had told him." Patton paused to let a small sigh escape.
When he continued his voice was sadder, as if the song was drawing out his pain. "He told you he was down, you let it slip by." Patton though back to when he told the other's he would eat a second cookie if he was feeling dangerous. He thought back to the times when he let the other's know he hid his pain and how they still thought he was okay.
"So from then on he kept it on the inside, he told himself he was alright. But he was telling white lies, can't you tell? Look at his dull eyes." He clearly remembered all the times he had hid all this pain from the others.
"Tried to stop himself from crying almost every night, But he knew there was no chance of feeling alright. Summer came by, all he wore was long sleeves 'cause those cuts on his wrists were bleeding through you see." He felt on the verge of tears but swallowed them down remembering all the times he wore the cardigan usually hung around his shoulders.
"He knew he was depressed, didn't want to admit it. Didn't think he fit in, everyone seemed to miss it. He carried on like a soldier with a battle wound, bleeding out from every cut his body consumed." For him everyday was a battle, only getting out of bed so the other's didn't worry.
"He had no friends at school, all alone he sat and if someone were to notice he would blame the cat. But those cuts on his wrist, they were no mistake but no one cared enough to save him from this self-hate." He had to protect the other's from danger and right now what he was doing was dangerous. He couldn't let Virgil get any ideas.
"Things were going down, never really up and here he is now stuck in this stupid rut. He knew exactly what he had to do next, Just stand on that chair and tie the rope around his neck." Patton fastened a rope to his ceiling and proceeded to stare at it as he continued singing.
"He wrote a letter with his hand shaking wild 'look at me now! Are you proud of..." He trailed off into a mumble as tears started tracking their way down his face. "But he knew that his..." He started to mumble again as a sob racked his lungs. "weren't the ones to blame, it was the world that should bow down it's head in shame." He stood up from where he had fallen when the sobs hit him and walked up to touch the rope.
"He stood up on the chair and looked out at the moon. Just don't think, it'll all be over soon." Patton went to sit on the chair, ready to end all of this. "The chair fell down as he took his final breath. It's all over, all gone, now he's greeting death. His mom walks in, they fall down to the floor and now nothing can take back what they just saw. The little boy that they raised is just hanging there, his body's pale and his face is violently bare." He contemplated all that was really going to happen. He was sure he was ready.
"They see the note and unfold it with care, All they do is stare, 'How can this be fair?'. They start reading as the tears roll down their face."
Patton starts to write as he sings, writing his farewell note. Even though he was sure they could live without him as he wasn't at all interesting, he still felt as though he owed them some sort of explanation.
"I'm sorry Mom but this world is just not my place
I've tried for so long to fix this and fit in
I've come to realize this world's full of sin
There's nothing for me here, I'm just a waste of space
I've got no reason to stay here with this awful race
It's a disgrace, I was misplaced
Born in the wrong time and in the wrong place
It's OK though, 'cause you'll see me soon
You'll know when your time has come, just look at the moon
As it shines bright throughout the night
And remember everyone's facing their own fight
But I can't deal with the pain, I'm not a fighter
You'll make it through the night, just hug your pillow tighter
So let the world know, that I died in vain
'Cause the world around me, is the one to blame
And I know in a year, you'll forget I'm gone
'Cause I'm not really something to be dwelled on
That's what they used to tell me, all those kids at school
So I'm going by the law "majority rules"
My presence on this earth is not needed any longer
And if anything, I hope this makes you stronger
You're the best friend that I ever had
Such a shame I had to make you so very sad
But just remember that you meant everything to me
And to my heart, you're the only one that held the key
Now it's time to go, I'm running out of space to write
And yes I lost my fight, but please just hold on tight
I'm watching over you from the clouds above
And sending down the purest and whitest dove
To watch over you, and be my helpful eye
So this is it, world, goodbye."
As Patton sung the last word he tied the rope into the shape of a noose, stepped on the chair and just as he was about to put his head through... He heard a voice, a voice saying "No!" and as he turned around to see who it was Logan tackled him to the floor, hugging him. "This is not the way you want to go. You can do so much more for everyone around you. Don't leave us." Logan was hugging Patton as tightly as he could, if he even moved a little he could get hurt and Logan wasn't taking any chances. Virgil and Roman soon joined the cuddle, upgrading it to a cuddle pile.
Virgil spoke in a firm voice, "You deserve to be here, you are worth all we could ever give. We would happily trade everything for you to be safe and right here. I'd even give my hoodie up if it could help you."
Roman's voice was warm and understanding, "We couldn't live without you because you do everything around here. We'd all be devastated and would constantly blame ourselves. Please don't do this, there's so much to live for. Think of all the things that bring you joy."
Patton while in this cuddle felt warm and protected, in this moment he couldn't even think of hurting himself. So he let the other's voices lull him to sleep, and if only for these moments, he was peaceful and happy.
