Who Cares, Baby? - Anaroceit -
Roman curled up closer into the warmth of their boyfriends, sighing contently as Virgil wrapped his arm around Roman's middle, pulling them closer and nuzzling the top of their head. Deceit made a soft noise that sounded like annoyance as Virgil's grip on him disappeared, and Roman buried their face into Deceit's neck, pressing the gentlest of kisses to his exposed scales. Their legs were a tangle of limbs, Deceit really couldn't feel his anymore and Virgil was starting to feel stiff, but he didn't dare move from their cuddle pile.
And that's when the words slipped past Roman's lips, they didn't even process the words themself after they had uttered them.
"I think I wanna marry you."
It was so soft, barely audible, and normally their sleep-deprived selves would never have caught it. But they were all awake just enough to be able to understand what Roman said. Roman felt the warmth move away. Not by a lot, but it still grew distant, and they frowned slightly, glancing up at their boyfriends.
They were glancing at each other, slightly confused and... worried? Roman's frown deepened. Why would they be worried?
But then their words finally processed, and their eyes widened. "Shit-" they whispered, though this time neither Virgil or Deceit heard. Of course they hadn't heard them swear but they heard them say they want to marry them. This was it. They must think they were going too fast. What if they had fucked up? What if they hated them for even suggesting it?
"Is this a proposal, Ro?" Deceit asked, his expression serious.
"Um-"
"Because if it is, I think you're supposed to have a ring or two," Virgil added, and he held out a small box for Roman to take.
Roman did, and they opened it, their brain still too tired to understand exactly what was going on. But when they opened the box, they gasped, sitting upright instantly and breaking free of Deceit and Virgil's arms. They looked between their boyfriends and the box.
"Also, it's supposed to be more romantic, but since you brought it up it's only fair we upstage you by providing the rings."
"You guys aren't serious..." Roman whispered, looking between them. But they nodded, sitting up themselves, the blanket pooling around all three of their waists.
"If you'll have us, Roman, we'd be overjoyed to marry you." Deceit hummed, taking the two rings from the box. He passed one to Virgil, and they both held them out for Roman.
"We couldn't ask for a better partner, either," Virgil said just as softly.
Roman could feel tears welling up in their eyes. "This isn't a dream...?"
Deceit shook his head. "Well, Roman?"
Roman needed to take a deep breath, their hands shaking. But they nodded. They nodded and crumbled into their boyfriends - fiancés - and they laughed lightly. Virgil grinned at Deceit over Roman's head before pressing a light kiss to Roman's temple, attempting to wipe away Roman's tears, even if they were tears of joy. Deceit just combed his fingers through Roman's bedhead, waiting for them to calm down so he and Virgil could slip the rings onto Roman's hand.
"I guess this means our actual proposal plan is out the window, huh Vee."
"Hush and let Roman be happy."
Deceit rolled his eyes, hugging Roman closer, kissing the top of his head. Virgil was right though. And Deceit did love seeing Roman happy.
