---------------------

Logan had expected the usual scene when he got up. He'd go downstairs, Patton would be trying and failing to make breakfast, Roman would be singing at varying volumes as he helped and danced around, Virgil and Janus would still be asleep and Remus would be on the ceiling waiting to steal some food since Patton didn't like making anything for Remus. Logan would make himself some coffee and smile at Remus when Patton wasn't looking, and then they'd eventually all have some pancakes.

The logical side was feeling happier than usual. He'd had a pleasant night stargazing with Remus, Remus making up new constellations and giving them stories and Logan pointing out the ones that humans knew of. They had only left the Imagination when they noticed the sky starting to change to a slightly lighter blue. His joyful memories stopped when he met Patton's gaze once Logan was downstairs.

"Where were you last night, Lo? I came to check on you but you weren't in your room, and I couldn't find you anywhere!"

Patton pouted slightly, sticking out his bottom lip. "I couldn't find Remus either." Patton tilted his head. "You two weren't doing anything together, we're you?"

Logan's heart skipped a beat, and he felt as though someone was squeezing his organs. Logan hated lying. He absolutely hated it unless it was excruciatingly important he lied, but that was hardly ever the case.

But he also didn't want Patton knowing about his and Remus's relationship. He distinctly remembered Patton getting very upset with Roman when he caught Roman and Janus kissing in Roman's room.

Patton had forced them to break up.

They still dated in secret, but it was much harder for Roman and Janus to get any alone time anymore.

Logan blinked, tilting his head. "Oh, I thought... I thought I told you before?" Logan began, not missing how Roman's singing had come to a halt a few minutes ago. "Roman let me use his part of the Imagination. To uh, test a theory I had." Logan forced himself to yawn, rubbing his eyes and hoping Patton bought that he was just tired. "I ended up staying a lot longer than I intended."

Patton furrowed his brows, glancing to the kitchen. "Hey Roman?"

The more positive side of creativity poked his head around the corner, pretending as though he wasn't listening in on Logan and Patton's conversation the entire time. Roman met Logan's eyes and offered a small, reassuring smile.

Logan silently sighed in relief.

"Yes, Patton?"

"Did you really lend Logan the Imagination last night?"

Roman brightened, his smile widening. "Sure did! Specs claimed he had some ideas and he wanted to play around with them as soon as possible. So I figured it wouldn't hurt anyone if he had control over it for the night."

"Uh-huh..." Patton crossed his arms, biting his lip. "And where was Remus?"

Roman shrugged. "Before I let Logan into the Imagination, I made sure Remus was occupied. Remus was busy doing... Things." Roman shuddered. "It involved a lot of blood, bodies, and giant spiders-"

"Okay!" Patton cut Roman off before he could continue with the visual. "I get it." He huffed slightly, offering a small smile to Logan. "I believe you. I just wanted to be sure one of my kiddos wasn't doing anything stupid last night."

"Of course not, Patton. Why would I ever do anything stupid?"

Patton relaxed some more, nodding, before returning to the kitchen to help with breakfast. Logan let out another soft sigh, leaning against the banister. He was really, really glad Roman covered for him.

Logan startled when arms loosely wrapped around him. But he relaxed once he realized it was just Remus. Logan kept his eyes towards the kitchen to make sure Patton didn't walk out again.

"Mornin'," Remus mumbled, pressing a kiss to the back Logan's neck. Logan smiled, turning around slightly to press a quick kiss to Remus's lips. Remus tried to make it last longer, but Logan wasn't going to test their luck and pulled away.

"Morning," Logan replied as he stepped away. "Still gonna meet up tonight?" Remus nodded, running a hand through his hair, only messing it up more. Logan's smile widened a bit as he nodded and headed towards the kitchen.
