--------------------------------------

Deceit didn't care if Patton had caused the split intentionally or not. He didn't care that it had been years. Deceit knew in his heart that he would never be able to move on from King.

And he was fine with that.

Sure, Deceit wished King had never been split in the first place. He hated that King ever split. But he's accepted that King is never coming back- because the twins aren't King. And Deceit would miss the twins if they did turn back. And it would all just be an endless cycle.

No, Deceit didn't want to move on from King.

And everyone had accepted this. They helped him through the grief and accepted that Deceit just wasn't going to get involved in romantic things among the sides ever again. Everyone didn't even bring up the idea that Deceit should try finding someone else, because they knew his decision was set.

All except Patton, it seemed.

Patton believed that everyone would eventually fall in love, and believed that if that lost died they'd find a new one.

Patton began to bug Deceit constantly, always hanging around the dishonest side even when Deceit snapped that he wished to be alone. He touched Deceit and ignored the way he tried to squirm from Patton's embraces, and Patton ignored how Deceit kept saying how he despised the pet names Patton used.

Patton didn't even try to respect Deceit's boundaries, or try to understand that Deceit was happy without being in a relationship. Wasn't Deceit happy in one before? Wouldn't he be sad when he's not in one now? Doesn't Deceit miss being in a relationship?

Deceit even made an attempt to tell Patton that he'd be fine with just being friends! But then Patton used the excuses of 'But I'm a good guy! I comforted you when King was split! Shouldn't you at least give me a chance?"

Deceit was infuriated by his words and the idea of a friendship with Patton was promptly thrown out the window.

But Patton was nothing but persistent.

He sent love poems, flowers, drawings he thought held so much feeling. Patton gave him gifts constantly, and made sure to hug Deceit once a day at the bare minimum whether Deceit was okay with it or not.

And Deceit was furious about this.

And it was happening again.

Deceit was sitting on the couch, leaning against Roman as he read and used Roman's voice as background noise. Roman was too busy talking himself through his own thoughts that he didn't notice the music begin to softly play on the stereo and he didn't notice Patton approaching at first.

Both of the sides jumped when they heard Patton's voice though. "May I have this dance?"

Patton was holding a hand out to Deceit, grinning wide as he waited for Deceit to accept his hand. He was met with a scowl.

"Fuck off and fall off a cliff."

Deceit felt Roman laugh silently, an arm being slung around Deceit just in case Patton tried to grab Deceit. Patton pouted.

"Just go Patton, he obviously doesn't wish to dance."

"But-"

"Please, for fucks sake Morality, leave me alone."

Patton huffed, crossing his arms and sinking out. Deceit leaned his head back to look up at Roman, and Roman grinned down at him. Deceit grinned back.

"Thanks Princey."

"Anytime, now want me to let go or is this fine?"
