It was fine. Everything would be fine. They were just shadows. And these are just feelings. Everything would be fine. Everyone is fine, sleeping peacefully in their rooms. Even Remus and Deceit would be sleeping happily within their domain.

Everything was fine.

Patton sighed quietly as he rolled over yet again in his bed.

Since when was his room so cold?

Since when did it feel so lonely?

And when did Patton start to feel so overwhelmed?

Patton's heart began to race as he recalled his nightmare, the shadows of his room looming over him, as if knowing what he'd dreamed of. As if they knew they could easily claim him.

Patton shook his head and finally climbed out of bed.

Maybe a glass of water or milk would help.

He hastily left his room, being sure to click on the light switch on his way out. Bit the shadows trailed after his own, keeping their distance but also keeping a close eye on the moral side.

Patton rounded the corner, walking too fast and very out of it, and the next thing he knew he had collided with someone, bouncing back from their chest and he made an 'oof' sound while rubbing his nose.

"Ah, Pat! Um, sorry. You alright?"

Patton looked up from the tiles to the other side's eyes, his own brown ones lighting up at the sight of his Stormcloud.

Patton grabbed Virgil and clung to him, sighing happily as his boyfriend looped an arm around him. Virgil didn't complain, pressing a soft kiss to Patton's head. "You alright?" He instead asked again.

Patton nodded after a moment, sniffing slightly and moving away just barely. He laughed lightly. "Yeah, just some nightmares is all."

It wasn't totally a lie.

Virgil nodded in understanding. "Anything I can do?"

Patton hummed quietly. "Well, I was gonna try to see if something to drink could help me sleep, but... can I... can I go back with you to your room and sleep in there?"

Virgil didn't even hesitate to nod, interlacing their fingers and capturing his lips into a short kiss before walking with Patton to his room. It wasn't long until they were in bed together, and Patton sighed happily as he snuggled into Virgil's chest.

"You're my new pillow," Patton mumbled, and Virgil laughed. Hearing his laugh made Patton happy.

Virgil ran his fingers through Patton's hair. "Very well then. Now go to sleep, you'll need energy for the video tomorrow."

Patton nodded slowly, sighing in content.

He didn't feel as lonely anymore, and his sleep was far from hellish.
