Virgil shivered slightly as the cool air of their room hit his skin, and he muttered incoherently, pulling the blanket up further. He would have drifted back to sleep, too, if he didn't realize why he was cold in the first place.
The human - or rather, side - inferno known as Remus wasn't in bed.
Virgil rubbed his eyes, blinking away the sleep as he pushed himself up. He looked around his room, even flicking on a light just in case Remus was merely hiding in the shadows. He frowned slightly when he didn't see Remus, and even checked under the bed to be certain Remus wasn't in Virgil's room.
It wasn't too unusual for Remus to leave during the night, but after coming back from a trip in the Imagination? Remus could usually sleep for days if Virgil let him.
Deciding it might be better to actually locate his boyfriend before anything could be found broken, a fellow side or otherwise. So Virgil climbed out of bed and pulled on his hoodie, sighing in relief at the warmth.
Remus always complained if it wasn't cold in Virgil's room because he did have a tendency to overheat, so Virgil made the deal that as long as Remus cuddled with Virgil the room could stay cold. Remus had happily agreed.
The hallway light was off- rightfully so, as it was still only four in the morning. Instead of turning the light on, Virgil just shuffled down the stairs, careful to not trip on any of them. He heard a soft humming coming from the living room, and he squinted to get a better look at the side.
Sure enough, Remus was sitting in the middle of the floor, painting with some sort of glowing ink which had somehow gotten on both Remus and the paper he was using. Virgil leaned against the banister, smiling fondly as he watched Remus for a moment.
Remus still hadn't noticed him, so Virgil cleared his throat lightly. Remus jumped, nearly knocking over a little bottle of the ink. Glancing around, he caught sight of a figure and hastily snapped his fingers, turning on the lights.
Everything was still dim, but it was enough light to see one another clearly.
"Whatcha working on?" Virgil asked, walking over and settling next to Remus. Remus smiled slightly, picking up the brush he was using again.
"Just doodling. Sorry for leaving."
Virgil shrugged, leaning slightly against Remus's dominant side and he pressed a light kiss to Remus's cheek. Remus's familiar warm skin pressed against Virgil's lips, and only grew warmer as Remus's cheeks turned pink.
"I get it. Mind if I watch you?"
Remus grinned, nodding. He turned his head and captured Virgil's lips, slipping his free hand into Virgil's.
"I wouldn't mind at all, Scare-bear." Remus hummed, before turning back to his work. Virgil smiled, also turning his gaze down to the large, glowing paper.
