Burnout - Platonic!Roceit -
Janus looked up from his book in annoyance as his door was opened without warning, about to snap at whichever side had decided to barge in on him when he had clearly told them he wanted to be left alone.
It was one of Janus's recharge days, the deceitful side feeling exhausted with how much socializing he had done over the past few months. He had planned to spend the day reading, maybe take a nap or watch some crime investigating show. Or even a few musicals! He had plenty of snacks and drinks for himself too, so he wouldn't have to go downstairs.
Whatever the case, Janus did not intend to socialize whatsoever that day.
Janus's words died in his throat though when Roman shuffled inside, closing the door softly behind him. Janus closed his mouth, frowning at the creative side.
Roman looked absolutely dreadful. His skin almost turning a sickly yellow, hair as messy as Remus's on one of Remus's bad days. His regal outfit was replaced with a simple sweater and sweatpants, both depressing gray tones.
The effects of a burnout were as clear as day to Janus, considering how much time he had spent with Remus. Remus didn't suffer from them often, but it had been often enough for Janus to recognize the signs and figure out ways to help.
He supposed he could add one person to his day of no socializing. "Come on," Janus nodded to his bathroom, conjuring some more comfortable pajamas and handing them to Roman. Roman blinked in confusion, but he mostly looked exhausted. "Go get changed into these, and I'll set up a musical for us to watch."
Roman sighed in what Janus could only guess to be relief, and disappeared into Janus's bathroom. As he changed, Janus created more pillows and another beanbag chair, doubled the amount of snacks he had (as well as conjured some candy he distinctly remembered being Roman's favorite), and set up and Hamilton on his TV.
When Roman left the bathroom, he didn't look any better. Janus gestured to the new beanbag and Roman gracelessly fell into it, letting out a quiet gasp when Janus snapped and suddenly there was a blanket across both himself and Roman.
"Want me to do your nails as we watch?" Janus asked gently, and Roman nodded after giving it a thought. Janus conjured up some nail polish and let Roman choose a color he wanted, and then hit play, listening as the musical began.
Janus wasn't as good at nail art as either Roman or Remus, but Roman didn't seem to care at the moment that his nails would only be painted a single color. Roman could always redo them later when he was feeling better.
They didn't really talk at all through the movie, but Roman seemed to relax more as time went on. His nails had been painted a bright, sparkly red and Roman had let them dry before touching any of the snacks.
Roman accepted Janus's embrace halfway through the musical, melting into Janus's side as they watched. He was starting to feel better, humming along first then singing softly the songs. Roman barely noticed when Janus started to work the knots out of Roman's hair with his fingers- he didn't notice that Janus wasn't even wearing his gloves as he did so.
After Hamilton, Janus put on The Lion King. He cracked a smile as Roman made a joke about how maybe the movie was secretly about Janus, the Lying King. They still didn't talk much through the movie, but Roman was happy to listen as Janus sang Be Prepared, and leaned more on his friend to sing Hakuna Matata with the animated characters.
They spent the rest of the day like that, in their pajamas watching random movies (mostly Disney) and eating snacks. Eventually they stopped paying as much attention to the movies and more attention to each other, bantering back and forth but voices never shifting louder than a whisper.
Snacks finally ran out and Roman yawned loudly, curling into the deceptive trait's side. He heard Janus laugh softly but Janus pulled him closer, getting more comfortable himself. He snapped and his lights went out, though his ceiling looked like the canopy of a forest and moonlight shone through the leaves.
Roman sighed happily, nestling closer to Janus. "Thanks," he mumbled into Janus's shoulder before falling asleep shortly after. Janus huffed lightly but closed his own eyes, letting himself drift to sleep as well.
Tomorrow, he'd spend another day with Roman, making sure the creative side didn't try to immediately jump into another project and actually rested. Maybe he could convince Remus to make some sort of spa (with no Remus surprises) and all the sides could go and relax. But that was an idea he could think more on in the morning.
