Only a Memory (Prinxiety)
Roman closed his eyes to enjoy the hot rays of sun beaming on him from the bright blue sky as he laid on red and white checkered picnic blanket. The other half was purple and black checkered, for his best friend Virgil.
They were sitting next to a big willow tree, in case they wanted to retreat to shade. The park they were in was big, green and prospering, yet nobody else was there.
The two boys laid on their side of the blanket, staring up at the cloud as the sun glowed on their faces, enjoying their time.
Then Virgil sat up, breaking the comfortable silence between the two.
"Hey, uh, Roman," Virgil mumbled, looking at his friend. "Yes Virgil? What is it?" Roman asked, also sitting up to face Virgil.
"I need to tell you something," Virgil murmured and Roman raised an eyebrow.
"I'm listening." Roman said and awaited Virgil's answer.
"Well, I, um," Virgil stammered, uncomfortably. Roman waited patiently for Virgil to end his quiet rambling.
"Ugh, why are words so difficult!" Virgil huffed, throwing his hands up in the air, exasperated. Roman laughed a little.
"You can tell me anything Virge. You know that right?"
"Y-yeah. So, I- ah screw it!" Virgil leaned toward Roman and before Roman could react, Virgil placed his lips on Roman's and they kissed.
Roman gasped in surprise, but didn't break the kiss. Instead he gave into Virgil's passionate kiss and fought back with his own passion, the two boys melting into the kiss.
After they broke the kiss for air, no words were needed to decide how this affected their relationship.
Virgil laid in Roman's lap, with Roman's arms around him, both admiring and pointing out shapes of the cloud.
Both of thinking the same thing.
I love you.

Then a gun shot, and Roman snapped awake, lying in a cold sweat in his bedroom. Roman realized what had happened and quietly started to cry.
Tears fell from his eyes as his visiting friend Patton poked his head in, having heard the cries from his room.
"Hey Roman," Patton comforted softly and sat down next to the crying boy. Patton invited Roman in for a hug and Roman cried into his shoulder.
"Do you want to go visit Virgil again?" Patton asked softly in Roman's ear. Roman only nodded.
"Okay, I'll be in the car," Patton informed him, standing. "Thank you Patton," Roman smiled weakly.
"Anything for a friend," Patton gave a small smile back before vanishing.
Roman changed silently, grabbed a bouquet of dark purple roses from its jar and met Patton downstairs in the car.
The drive was silent, the only sound being the hum of the car engine. Patton said nothing about the dripping flowers.
Finally the car halted as they arrived at their destination.
The Graveyard.
"I'll be here waiting. Take your time Roman." Patton said quietly and Roman nodded, gripping the flowers while ignoring the thorns digging into his hand.
Roman walked the route he knew so well, the route to his one love's grave.
Finally, he arrived at the tombstone he knew all too well.
Virgil Sanders
Beloved friend and fiancé
Roman laid the flowers on the tomb and sobbed, crying into his hands as he felt a drop of rain land on his shoulder.
Roman only cried harder as he remembered getting a call from Virgil's phone, only to discover it was a Nurse saying that Virgil Sander's has committed suicide, and they were unable to save him.
The rain poured harder.
His dream had been one of his most treasured memories, one of the few times he and Virgil were truly happy.
Before Virgil took his own life.
Roman cried, wanting his fiancé back.
He cried, wanted to pain to leave.
That was the one thing Roman could do.
Cry.

*awkward cough*
Thanks to Pattonpupper for allowing me to use her idea. I was gonna make this darker, but it's almost midnight, and I'm tired.
