Knight in Shining Armour | Prinxiety

Virgil Sanders looked towards the door of the restaurant he was in, impatiently. People were coming and going, but none of them was who Virgil had been waiting for.

Virgil's boyfriend was late.

How late?

Twenty minutes.

He was starting to getting pity looks from the other customers.

God, Virgil hated pity.

The waitress came over to his table again. "Are you ready to order?" She asked, her eyes darting between him and the empty chair.

"Not yet, thanks," Virgil mumbled. Maybe he'd be here in just five minutes.

The waitress nodded and left quietly, but without looking up, Virgil knew she was pitying him.

Another ten minutes past. Virgil sighed, defeatedly. He wasn't coming.

He started to stand when a boy who was definitely not Virgil's boyfriend sat down with an apologetic look on his face.

"Sorry I'm late darling, traffic is horrendous out there," he exclaimed, loudly as he grabbed a menu.

Virgil looked at the mysterious boy, questioningly.

Mystery boy was cute, with bangs swooped over his face, and his hair dyed purple, something Virgil had wanted for a long time but never had the courage to do. He had chocolatey brown eyes, and wore a red jacket, white shirt and blue jeans.

"I'm Roman," the boy added quietly, looking up from the menu, "just go with it. Whoever stood you up is a jerk."

Virgil fiddled his thumbs in his dark hoodie he was wearing.

Roman was sweet for trying to save him, and it looked like it was working, since when Virgil looked around he didn't see any pity looks from anyone anymore.

"Sure," Virgil agreed with a smile.

The next hour at the restaurant with Roman had been the best date Virgil had had ever.

Roman, as it turned out, was a huge theatre nerd like he was, and even acted in a few himself.

God, Roman was adorable talking about his passions, his eyes lighting up in excitement, and whenever Virgil inputted his opinion, Roman listened to every word.

Virgil's now ex boyfriend had never listened to Virgil. Virgil had always been listening to him. Whenever Virgil had tried to talk about his passions, he was asked to be quiet.

This was a nice change.

They had finished their meals slowly, as if trying to stretch their date as long as possible. Finally, the bill arrived.

"Want to split?" Virgil asked but Roman already brought out his wallet.
"No, I've got it," Roman assured him and laid the money on the table.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes,"

The two headed to the doors, and when they arrived, Roman held the door open. "After you Hot Topic,"

"Aw, you think I'm hot," Virgil smirked.

"Yes I do," Roman winked and Virgil blushed, looking away in an attempt to hide it.

The two boys stood outside the restaurant, and sadly, both knew the date was over.

"Thanks again for the save," Virgil smiled at Roman, hoping he wasn't blushing anymore.

"What can I say?" Roman laughed and winked at him, "I'm your knight in shining armour."

"Can I get your phone number?" Virgil asked hesitantly.

"Of course you can," Roman beamed. Virgil handed Roman his phone, and a moment later Roman handed Virgil his phone back.

"Can I ask you something?" Virgil asked.

"Of course,"

"How'd you know I was gay?"

"I saw an emo in the corner and thought to myself, 'yes, this one is gay,'" Roman smirked, and Virgil hissed.

"That was adorable," he chuckled and Virgil glared at him.

"Seriously though, how'd you know?"

"I didn't. It was a risk I was willing to take," Roman shrugged and Virgil snickered.

Of course Roman would try to save a complete stranger by going on a date with him. What a Roman thing to do,

"I have to go, but I expect a text soon," Roman winked as he started walking away.

"Okay!" Virgil called and soon Roman was gone.

Virgil headed to his car, and decided to text Roman now, in case he forgot later, which he sincerely doubted but just in case.

As Virgil opened the contact, he'd couldn't help but laugh. Roman had named his contact,
❤️Prince Charming❤️

Virgil smiled to himself. Roman was a huge dork.

He loved it, and he couldn't wait to see Roman again.
