Roman's Kind of a Jerk and makes everyone mad but It'll Be Ok In the End

A/n: I'M BACK BABYYYYYYY

In honor of marching season ending, and omovember starting I have decided to finally finish writing this banger of a prompt.

Also when I said it would take a while I honestly didn't expect it to take THIS long. 😬😬😬

This one is for fallen_willow_tree thank you so  much for requesting!

It started out with simple jokes here and there. Little things he'd say, or more likely observe—looking back, he didn't know why he felt the need to voice them.

"Patton, you're too bubbly" Roman chuckled, watching the other ramble excitedly, a gleam in his eyes as he talked about something he loved, "calm down."

"Sorry!" Patton buzzed with excitement, giggling quietly at Roman.

Ah.

For that.

For the reaction. That's why.

He didn't really care whether the reaction was good or bad, he just relished in the attention of the conversation, no matter the topic, eventually circling and focusing back to him.

Usually he'd make fun of Patton's jokes, or insult Logan for his nerdiness, or call Virgil an emo nightmare, maybe insult his makeup or clothing style—all in good fun. Patton would tell him he wasn't being very nice, Virgil would roll his eyes and flip him the bird, maybe quip back, and Logan would just sigh and say some really big words nobody quite understood.

So it became routine. It was just how they joked. They'd all get in petty little arguments with each other, most of them just in jest, to pass the time out of boredom, while Patton mediated to make sure nothing escalated.

So of course, one night when he saw an opportunity, he took it. Why wouldn't he? It was so normal for him to be a douche bag that he thought he was just being funny.

They were all together at Patton's house for a sleepover. Why they were having a sleepover on a Tuesday night was beyond them, though Patton insisted that it would be fun, and that for Logan they'd all go to bed at a decent hour. They were all just chatting about random topics when dinner was served—pizza.

"Y'know, sausage is so meh on pizza" Roman said, scarfing down a pepperoni.

Logan scoffed, "did you even chew?"

"Glasses, i'm not an animal" Roman pouted, glancing to the side when he heard hushed whispering, staring at Virgil, who wasn't even touching his food as Patton mumbled something to him. He was just staring at it with a grimace on his face. He opened his mouth, though Patton beat him to a comment.

"Virge, I know it's hard" he murmured, trying not to catch anyone's attention, though it was obvious the others could hear, "but you have to eat okay? Nobody's judging you, it's just food. Everyone eats food. Just some pizza."

Virgil nodded, looking down at his plate as he gulped, "you're right, you're right—sorry. I just...pizza's greasy and kinda heavy and—"

"No, no no. I understand" Patton smiled, "you could try something else if you want? I have fruit, and some salads, if you're feeling up to it?"

Virgil smiled, "thanks, Pat. I know I can be...difficult."

Roman glanced over at Logan, who pretended to be too into his book to be listening in on the whispering.

Patton opened his mouth but was interrupted.

"Why are you being so sensitive about food?" Roman asked bluntly, "you're so skinny. Is this why you're so skinny? Just eat it."

Virgil froze, looking up at Roman with wide eyes, but keeping his mouth glued shut. Logan and Patton looked up, panicked and motioning for Roman to just shut up.

"Seriously, you're so tiny—" he smirked, "why are you making such a big deal out of it?" He asked plainly, taking a big, dramatic bite out of his own food, "see?" He joked, "easy as pie."

"I—I—" Virgil's face fell, "it's not that easy, Roman!" He exclaimed, "I thought you would know a thing or two about being insecure" he spat, standing up so harshly his chair squealed against the floor, before turning on his heels and storming off.

"Kiddo! Wait!" Patton exclaimed, shooting Roman a death glare before scrambling out of his chair and stumbling over his feet after Virgil.

Roman was met with tense silence, and a scowl boring into the side of his head from Logan. But he paid Logan no mind, because oh boy, this must be serious if Patton was angry with him.

"That was very insensitive" Logan said after a moment, his glare never faltering, "he has eating problems."

Roman sat there for a moment, a look of shock coming over his face. He recoiled in guilt, "What? Why would he not tell me—"

"Gee I wonder" Logan seethed, "maybe because he thinks you'd make fun of him? Call him sensitive?" He said in air quotes, before running a hand down his face, "you know, you've always been kind of a jerk, Roman."

"What?! I—Logan, you know I don't mean anything!" Roman defended, "I thought we were all just joking?"

"Roman, there comes a time where you have to read the room. Have you seriously never noticed how Virgil never eats? Never drinks anything other than water?" Logan questioned, his look of disdain increasing, "the look on his face when someone offers him something? And when he has to actually eat to not look suspicious? He looks afraid."

He huffed, putting a finger up when Roman opened his mouth, "not every situation requires a quip. Not every situation needs a joke or a laugh. Even Patton knows that" he rose from his chair, and began to walk from the room, "Even if you don't mean what you say, you still say it. And that means something. It came from somewhere" he sighed, "I'm going to go check on Virgil."

And with that, Logan left the room, walking up the stairs in the same direction that Patton and Virgil had, his book abandoned on the table.

Roman sat there, tense and guilty, staring after Logan as his pizza grew cold.

————————————————————

Virgil took in a deep breath as Patton talked quietly to him about what had happened. He could hear Logan's accusatory voice probably chewing out Roman downstairs, though he tried to focus just on Patton.

"Virge, Roman didn't mean what he said, kiddo" Patton said, "you know how he is. He likes to make fun...doesn't know when to stop, kinda like me."

"But you don't make jokes about other people" Virgil mumbled, "you don't attack their weaknesses. You just make little puns."

"He probably just does that to cover up his own insecurities. A lot of people do that without realizing they're being bullies" Patton said.

"But he's right—i'm being so sensitive over something everyone does, and i'm just—god, is this what everyone thinks of me? That i'm just weak and insecure—i'm just being dumb, and-and attention seeking—"

"Virgil, no. No no no" Patton said repeatedly, If Roman undid all the precious work they did to get Virgil to come to terms with his eating problems he swears—"that's just what the world says about this kind of stuff. But we know that you work hard every day to get better. You may be a little different than other people—you have specific snack times and—and therapy, and you try so, so hard, and I admire you for that" he smiled gently.

Virgil smiled back, "I couldn't do this without you...I don't even know if i'd be eating salad without you...I just, you know how I feel..."

Patton nodded. As someone who loved food, he wondered how awful it was in Virgil's shoes. He was conscious of every calorie he took in, and that was the only thing he'd think of when he ate. Numbers numbers numbers. He felt horrible, and sick. Every bite was a regret.

Slowly, he was getting better. And Patton sure was proud of him.

But boy, did Patton not like Roman right now..

A slight knock came to the door, and it slowly opened, revealing Logan, "how are you...feeling?" Logan asked.

Virgil offered a shaky little half smile, "fine. I'm just being sensitive."

"No, no it's perfectly reasonable to be upset. This just may be what people call 'the final straw,' as he does stuff like this all the time" Logan said, "I am very unhappy with him right now."

"This is..going to be an awkward sleepover" Virgil sighed.

————————————————————

And it was.

Roman didn't know how long everyone was going to be mad at him, but he hoped it wouldn't last long, because being left out kind of sucked.

"Virgil..." Roman began quietly as the boy walked down the stairs. Virgil avoided his gaze, "Virge..i'm sorry. I didn't mean it, I just...i'm sorry."

Virgil gave an awkward half smile and a thumbs up, "ok...thanks."

The atmosphere became even more tense, and they sat in silence for a little. Eventually a game was pulled out, but every time Roman tried to talk they got snappy with him. They'd glare at him and turn away, or just shut him down entirely.

He thought that it would end after the sleepover, but no. It carried on, even at school

"Hey Logan" Roman waved at school the next day.

Logan gave him a sharp look, before turning away and walking in the other direction. Roman watched as he met up with Patton and Virgil. He just sighed and walked into class, deciding to give them some space.

They all had the same class together, first period English, so it was a bit harder to avoid each other in there. Roman sat down silently as the other three walked in, a conversation happening between them.

By then, Roman already knew the drill. Just shut up. Wait for them to come around.

The bell rang and teacher began to talk about some project they had to do. He listened as his friends talked around him, and he began wondering if he could join the conversation. He opened his mouth to speak, but barely got a word out before he was shut down.

He sighed, beginning to read his passage.

He noticed their teacher watching them throughout the class. Probably confused because Roman was usually a class clown and was now being rather silent.

"Alright! Powerpoint Projects are due at 11:59pm" she exclaimed over the many loud voices of teenagers either working together or pretending to be. They settled down and she continued, "well, they're supposed to be. But that just won't do. I don't understand the lesson plan sometimes, that really isn't enough time."

The class exclaimed various statements of thank god because it really was a big project.

"Just get them in before the first bell rings.... How about at the latest, next Monday morning for me, okay? Preferably on Friday...The head English teacher will have my head if I don't have them graded by next Wednesday" she chuckled, "alright, back to the annotations! Remember what I taught you. Make me proud" she joked.

The class dissolved back into casual chatter. Roman glanced around the room at all the typical stuff. Girls on their phones giggling and whispering as they texted each other because the gossip was so hot they couldn't possibly say it out loud despite the gasping they were doing—the typical wannabe frat boys were saying dude thirty times in one sentence...the kids who actually cared were doing their work, and his friends...

His friends were talking up a storm.

He sighed, wondering if he should just give up on them for then and go see what the hot gossip with Marissa and Jacob was. But he decided to try one last time.

"So..wanna come over later to work on the project?" He asked just as the bell rang.

Logan scoffed and walked out of the room, leading Virgil with him, and Patton followed. Roman shivered. He hated being on Patton's bad side. He was just so protective..

"Roman."

He jumped, "Y-yes, Mrs. Smith?" He asked sheepishly.

"Are you alright? You've been..quiet. Surprisingly" she joked, "and you seem to be getting the cold shoulder from your friends."

Roman sighed, "yeah...you know me. Always making some smart ass comment and hurting people's feelings" he sighed, "I already apologized, but..I don't know. Sensitive subject I guess"

Mrs. Smith nodded, "While some of your comments can be a bit...oh, how did you oh so delicately put it? Oh yes, right, smart ass..I doubt they'll be upset for too long. You guys have been best friends for ever. Oh, and also...maybe try another apology when things have cooled down some. When the wound is still fresh it can feel like you're just saying sorry so people won't be upset with you. Be genuine, be sincere."

He nodded, "yeah..you're rught. It just needs some time. Thanks Mrs. Smith. You're the best."

"Oh, I know..." she smiled, scribbling down a note with her signature on it, "here's a pass. Bell's going to ring any minute now. Just say you were helping me with a knocked over bookshelf or something, most teachers wouldn't take too kindly to students being late just for a chat."

"Alrighty..bye then" he smiled, "thank you!"

"Anytime! See you tomorrow, I hope you can get all of this cleared up! You're a good kid, Roman. I'm sure they'll approach you soon enough."

————————————————————

"I feel kind of bad" Virgil said as he closed the door to his bedroom. It had been three days and they were still avoiding him.

Logan got out his laptop out to work on finishing the english project, an eye brow raised.

"About Roman" Virgil clarified, "I feel like it was just...an honest mistake. I've thought about it..a lot" he brought a nervous hand to his mouth and began to gnaw on his thumb, "He thought he was being funny. And Yeah, he did do a bit much...but, he just looks so lonely at school. And I know how it feels to be alone..."

"Kiddo, this is all to teach him an important lesson. Maybe he'll be kinder after this?" Patton said, "hopefully.."

"I was a little bit over that 'i'm better than you' attitude of his. It's much calmer without him" Logan said.

"It feels like there's something missing without him though" Patton sighed.

Logan sighed, "I suppose I do miss proving him wrong. If you really feel this strongly, I was planning on a bit of a road trip for the three day weekend...we were all going to go somewhere, remember? Perhaps, if you really do want to see if he'll make things right..he can still tag along."

They both looked towards Virgil.

He was still kind of unsure but nodded, "yeah...yeah. He can come."

"Okay, i'll text him..." Patton said a little reluctantly, "if he hurts your feelings again he can walk home."

Virgil smirked, "Of course. I hope he doesn't expect much talking though, i'm still pretty salty. I can be very petty."

"Trust me, I know" Logan said with a scoff, "you know maybe we should pity him before he has to fully experience your pettiness."

Virgil snorted, "okay, i'm not that bad."

"You kind of are" Patton chuckled, typing on his phone, "oh, and Roman said he's coming."

Logan groaned, "can this day get any worse?"

"You are quite literally, the one who suggested he tags along" Patton pointed out.

"For the sake of friendship and..feelings...I want to at least give him a chance" Logan sighed, "I suppose we should pack after the project."

————————————————————

"So, what didja do to piss off your friends?" Remus questioned, petting Janus pet snake and rubbing the slime along the frame of his face, before working it in, "i've noticed you sitting alone at lunch the past few days. And they seem pretty snappy towards you."

Roman ignored his brother's antics while Janus scoffed in both disgust and amusement, "I made a few comments about Virgil's eating habits and how small he is."

"Dude even I know better to comment on his eating disorder" Remus frowned.

"Yeah, what the hell?" Janus asked.

"Am I the only one who didn't know about his eating disorder?!" Roman cried.

"I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if you were" Janus shrugged, "you're an asshole. And oblivious. Like, it's quite obvious."

"Even I picked up on it" Remus commented.

Roman groaned, shoving his face into his hands, "I really messed up."

"Yep" Janus agreed.

Ding

Roman pulled his phone put and tapped on his notification.

Patton: Hey Roman! You still up for that road trip?

"Oh my goodness" Roman gasped, "Patton just asked if i'm up for the road trip we were planning! They still want me to come?!"

"Let me see" Janus said, taking the phone and frowning, "he didn't use a nickname, and there's a concerning lack of emoji's. I think they're still upset. It's going to be quite awkward if you go."

Roman groaned, "what do I do?!"

"You say yes" Remus said immediately, "actually having you there will make them realize how much they've missed you."

"That makes sense!" Roman said, "okay. I'll tell him i'm coming."

"Good luck with that. Virgil is very petty" Janus said, looking at his nails boredly.

"Oh please, he's too afraid of offending people to hold grudges for long. It'll all probably be back to normal tomorrow" Roman said offhandedly, "since this is a weekend trip I think I should go pack some things."

———————-/—————//——————

When Roman saw that Logan was outside of his house ready to pick him up, he hadn't honestly expected much—though he expected something.
Something more than just a nod of acknowledgement. He sat in the back next to Patton, and glanced over to Virgil, who was in the passenger's seat. Probably because he didn't want to sit next to him.

"Hey guys" Roman said, putting a smile on his face in hopes of some kind of response.

Ultimately, he was ignored and Logan began to drive so he just sighed, sat back and looked out of his window. He decided he would wait until the car dissolved into mindless charter before he would interject again. They couldn't stay mad at him forever.

...

......

...Okay, so about twenty minutes later he concluded that maybe they could stay mad at him forever. The car certainly shifted into a more comfortable setting, with Virgil and Logan talking about some random deep science topic and Patton chiming in occasionally commenting on how cool it was.

It almost felt normal again. Aside from the fact that every time he attempted to join the conversation he was shut down by one of them. Mostly Logan. The other two just flat out ignored him.

Virgil hadn't said a word to him, or even looked in his direction—he was starting to feel really guilty. Had what he said really made him that upset?

He put his hood up and closed his eyes. Maybe a nap would do him some good.

———————-/—————//——————

When Janus said it was going to be awkward, he didn't expect wetting himself levels of awkward. Because that's what it was coming to—he had to pee, and he had to pee badly. It had been a couple hours—he woke up from his nap and took a bunch of nervous sips from his water to keep himself from thinking too much. But after two hours and three water bottles he just fell right back asleep.

Apparently, while he was sleeping they'd went to a rest stop and hadn't bothered to wake him, so that sure was something.

And now they were approaching the late afternoon, a couple hours before sunset. They'd been in the car all day, and Roman really, really had to pee. Like, he had to pee so bad he was ready to grab one of those water bottles and just piss his heart out into it.

He was putting off asking to stop though, because how awkward would that be? Oh, and what if they said no? Thought he was just bored or something? Plus, it's not like they would care after what he said to Virgil.

So he clenched his thighs together tightly and decided to deal with the extreme discomfort in his lower abdomen, trying to listen to the conversation happening. Surely, he could but in? Ask for a break? They'd been in the car for hours, surely they'd stop for him?

"Hey gu—"

"Shut up" Logan said coldly.

"But I really need to—"

Logan turned the car's radio up until the loud static was ringing in his ears and bouncing up and around inside of his head. Virgil tensed up and leaned over to whisper something to Logan, who just rolled his eyes and turned the radio down.

After a couple more minutes went by, Roman opened his mouth to speak up, but before he could even get a word out, Logan beat him to it, "so—we're on schedule, everything's looking good."

Roman deflated in his seat, huffing indignantly as he squirmed, eventually just settling for crossing his legs.

"Ooh! We've got enough time to go to a drive through and eat!" Patton exclaimed, "oh my gosh—Wendy's! We should go to Wendy's!"

Virgil nodded, "they have a pretty good salad." Don't hold the author to that though, for she has tragically never touched a salad in her entire life.😔

"Alright! Wendy's it is then" Logan said, ignoring any input Roman may have had to add to the conversation.

Patton sighed, pulling out his phone and Roman eventually got a ding and pulled out his phone.

Pat: Logan's being real protective rn. Doesn't want you to talk—just text ur order here

Pat: ur still on my bad side tho 🔪🔪🔪nobody makes my kiddo sad and gets away with it

Roman was getting mixed messages, and cautiously typed his order into Patton's phone so they could read it out to Logan when they got there.

When they pulled into the drive through, Logan made it very clear that this was to be a no-nonsense, specifically food stop. He didn't want to wait all day for them to go and take a 'just in case' pee when he had a reasonable stop scheduled. Well—reasonable for everybody else, since Roman, you know, missed the first rest stop.

When the car stopped and Roman looked out his window, his mouth went dry. He could see the restroom sign through the big, open glass window of the establishment. It was practically calling his name, in big bold lettering. He swallowed thickly as people began to file in and out of the restroom.

He rocked his hips from side to side, letting out a shuddering breath and pulling his knees up to his chest. There was no line. There was no line, and—and maybe if he just asked Logan would make an exception. Besides, logically speaking, he really should have to use the bathroom since he hadn't been! He would be quick—so quick, back before they even got their food—

He was jolted from his thoughts when the car finally moved and Logan was suddenly up at the window to order. He buried his face into his knees as he bounced his legs up and down. He had never experienced any discomfort quite like this. He had to pee, really bad, at that, and he was in a car filled with people who were either ignoring him, judging him, or being hostile towards him. It was unbelievably awkward.

"Roman" Logan snapped a few seconds after they pulled up to the paying window, "stop shaking the car. Keep still."

Roman simply nodded, "s-sorry.."

Virgil glanced back, observing Roman's body language. Was he sick? Something didn't look right—

But he couldn't dwell on it for long, because soon enough, Logan was passing bags of food to him to divvy out. By the time everyone had their food they were about to drive off, when Roman blurted, "Wait, Logan, can I—"

"Yes, yes" he said shortly, "here's a straw" Logan said, passing one back.

"What? No—I mean thanks, but—"

"Roman" Logan gritted, "enough."

Roman let out a strangled breath of frustration and anxiety as they drove away from Wendy's. He kept his eyes locked on the restroom until they drove out of sight. Great. What was he going to do?! He had to pee so bad, and nobody was listening to him.

If he would have known he would be getting the same treatment he got at school, he would have just stayed home! He thought they invited him to give him a chance make amends! But they were all still holding grudge! Virgil wouldn't even look at him, pretending he didn't exist, and Patton wouldn't stop looking at him, threatening glares and disapproving looks on him at all times.

He was ready to apologize to Virgil—and forgiven or not, he truly did feel sorry for what he did. But how was he supposed to do that when nobody would give him the chance?

He found himself absentmindedly guzzling down his sofa in an attempt to stop the tears threatening to spill down his face. No. He would not cry. He knew that a stop was going to come soon enough.

————————————————————

It never came.

Thirty minutes later, the need increased tenfold, and there were no signs of stopping—they were in the middle of nowhere, and it was getting so bad he couldn't breathe, and that soda was such a bad idea, and it went right through him—so yeah, he was not having a good time.

He hissed a little, shoving his hands between his legs. If Logan did not stop now, he was going to wet himself.

And that really made him tear up.

Him—the confident, brave, perfect one—who never got dirty, was about to wet himself pathetically because he couldn't hold it. And in Logan's car—oh, no, Logan was already mad at him—now he was going to be livid.

He sighed deeply, hunching over with shaking shoulders as his control began to slip. He let out a high pitched noise and dug his nails into his thighs, balling is hands into fists as he clenched his jeans. He felt a hot spray of warmth leak and soak through his underwear.

He couldn't stop—his bladder had gotten a taste of relief, and now it was craving for more. He couldn't stop himself from continuing, going heavily into his jeans. It was quiet, and boy, was it audible. He watched his jeans glisten as the hissing became louder, as a warm, wet puddle began to pool around his ass when the liquid became too much for his saturated jeans to hold.

Patton gasped, looking over, "Oh my goodness! Logan, stop the car, pull off somewhere!"

Because of the urgency in Patton's voice, he was quick to turn on his blinker and pull off the side of the luckily not busy road. As soon as he had the car in park and turned around, the sight in front of him shocked him so hard he had to blink a few times.

Roman was sitting there, red faced and teary eyed, chest heaving up and down as he stared down at his lap, his pants completely and thoroughly soaked.

And Logan was just angry. He responded poorly, not caring That Roman was clearly upset, immediately jumping to conclusions.

"Roman!" Logan boomed, "are you serious right now?! You'll do anything for attention! Is this because we were ignoring you? Grow up!" His face contorted into something more than anger, "you are disgusting" he spat.

Virgil turned back and put a hand over his mouth in shock.

And just like that, Roman couldn't breathe. It was official. They hated him. They were judging him, they were going to laugh at him. They'd never speak to him again—

He couldn't breathe—why couldn't he breathe?!? He let out a choked sob, gasping for air. He didn't know what to say so he just stayed silent as tears rolled down his cheeks.

Guilt struck Logan like a pickup truck and he was taken aback slightly. Roman was always one to clap back. He never took anything from anyone and now he was just hanging his head, crying silently as Logan yelled at him.

Patton was quick to comfort him when his face began to turn a concerning shade of purple, "g-guys, I don't think he's breathing" he said quickly, placing a hand on Roman's shoulder, "calm down buddy—it'll be okay" he spoke gently, using his other arm to begin rubbing circles on his back.

But Roman couldn't even hear him, let alone focus on his voice—his mouth was glued shut, and his body trembling. He felt light headed from the lack of oxygen, but all he could focus on was Logan—Logan, who had been upset with him all day. Logan, who had been snappy and angry at him all week and had finally gotten an opportunity to lash out. Logan, whose car he just pissed himself in.

A fresh layer of tears spilled from his eyes and made their way quickly down his face. They dripped down his chin as he tried to just breathe, but all that came out was a strangled noise. Logan was mad. Virgil was still upset, Patton was simply pitying him.

They hated him. They hated him. They hated him. They hated him. They hated him. They hated him. They hated him. They hated him.  They hated him. They hate—

"Roman, calm down!" Virgil exclaimed in a panic. He really was turning purple.

A sob broke loose from Roman's throat, "I'm sorry!" He choked out, "i'm so sorry, Virgil!" His body shook violently with his sobs as he tried to gasp for breath, "I couldn't say it until now but I really am! I didn't know, I didn't think! I'm just so stupid!" He gasped for air, balling his hands into fists and putting them over his eyes, "I'm so stupid! I was a jerk!"

Roman choked on his breath, coughing violently as he sobbed.

"R-Roman" Virgil said quickly, "Roman, look at me—listen!" And he did. He looked up at Virgil, trying to focus even though he couldn't breathe, "if you calm down I will forgive you! Okay? Can you do that for me?"

Roman nodded, following along with Virgil as he did some strange breathing exercise with him, "good...now out for seven" Virgil told him for the third time, "you're doing so good...just follow me. Repeat me."

Roman eventually calmed down enough to where he wasn't, y'know, about to die. And without the tears clouding his vision, he could finally see past the trembling of his frame to realize that Logan looked guilty. Like, unfathomably guilty. It would have been funny if Roman wasn't coming down from the literal worst panic attack of his life.

"Uhm, i'm sorry" Roman mumbled, gesturing to his soaking wet pants, "for um...this."

"No, no, i'm sorry for yelling. It was..insensitive of me. I know you didn't do it on purpose, I don't know why I even insinuated that" he said carefully, "why didn't you tell us you had to go?"

Roman's eyes widened in surprise, because seriously?! "Uh, i've been trying to. For hours now. But you've shut me down literally every time I opened my mouth. And I tried to hold it, I really did, but I just couldn't anymore. I'm really sorry for making a mess..."

"I'll say" Virgil mumbled, "that is..a lot of pee."

"No, no—Roman, I don't mind the mess" Logan said quickly, "oh—this is my fault, I shouldn't have been so petty. Virgil was supposed to be the petty one. I just got—" he searched for a word, "protective."

"Let's get somewhere to clean the car and get you changed" Logan said, "there should be a gas station coming up.

"Thanks" Roman mumbled, letting the full weight of embarrassment sink in now that he had some time to think. He just pissed his pants and cried about it. Warmth bloomed throughout his face and his cheeks turned a dark shade of pink.

Patton hugged Roman to reassure him,  and the ride was awkward and silent. Everyone made mistakes and everyone knew that.

————————————————————

The trip went a lot more smoothly after that. Roman was finally able to participate in conversation and actually enjoy himself, though he was beyond humiliated when his friends told him they'd take care of the mess for him while he changed.

Virgil seemed to be over the whole joke thing, but Roman wanted to make sure, so caught him in private while Logan and Patton were off ordering food, "Virgil, i'm sorry. For joking about your eating problems."

"I told you I forgive you—"

"No! No, Virgil, you can't just forgive me because I was crying, I want you to know how truly sorry I am" Roman said seriously.

"Roman, really, it's okay. You didn't know, I didn't tell you. And a part of me knows that this needed to happen. Now I think you've learned your lesson, right?" Virgil questioned.

Roman nodded, "yep. I learned it a little too well. Can we be..friends again?" He asked nervously.

"Of course, you doof" Virgil smirked, "i'm still telling Remus you pissed yourself in Logan's car though."

"DON'T YOU DARE!"
