Chapter 5 🌹
In the evening
As Daksh jogged inside the mansion somewhat tired of the continuous meetings, making him even skip lunch; he saw his parents discussing something important.
Since the family would always sit near the fireplace for either a serious discussion or Dainik would have tortured them with his demand to stay alone with his friends.
Dainik wanted to stay away from the family and learn to live independently as many of his friends had opted to after their graduation.
But Daksh didn't want him to leave Dharani who loved her youngest more than him.
"...dad?...mom?...everything okay?..." as a tensed Daksh sat on the lone chair, Dharani glanced over Shekar who signalled for the crucial decision that they had made for him.
"...Daksh?...before we start...we want you to know that whatever we have decided would always be for your better future..." as Dharani conveyed her concern, Daksh nodded on getting tensed more.
"...Son!...you are our pride...and we have always wanted the best for you...so, when we look for a partner who would spend her entire life with a humble and caring person like you...she is only blessed..." Shekar supported his wife's words to which Daksh chuckled and held his parent's hands in his care.
"...dad!...Mom!!...I have full confidence in both of you...*scoff*...Mom...I know I can be difficult at times...but that's how I am...and regarding whatever decision you would take?...I know that it entails...my likes and dislikes too...coz I am eventually a part of you...so, what I think and what I want...is similar to what my lovely parents would want too..." listening to their smart kid's statement, made the parents finally relaxed that they had made the right decision.
"...I was hoping you would say that...so, does it mean that you agree to this...proposal...?" as Shekar asked his son, Daksh smiled remembering his trial for her and saw the glisten in his father's eyes.
As he watched his mother's worried wrinkles forming on her forehead, he realised that he would have to forget his one-sided love and keep his promise of being the support and strength to his aging parents.
He looked down smiling with a slight nod, making Dharan hug him with a peck on his forehead.
"...you will not regret!!...she is perfect!...she fits perfectly with your list of a perfect partner for you!...her personality matches to you like it was made from heaven!!...my son!!...you will happy with her!!...I can assure you!!...but...son?!!"
As his mother got suddenly hesitant, Daksh tilted her head to his face level asking the reason.
Shekar got concerned on how his son would take the issue of a perfect girl with only a flaw of a scar.
"..." as Daksh listened to the brave tale of his bride-to-be, he could only feel the pain and remorse she would have felt on being left with a scar.
"...that is where you are wrong!...she is not like that!!...not the contrary!...she is most confident personality I have come across...not to mention...the humblest one too...just meet her once...and have a chat...maybe you will see...what we have experienced with her..." Dharani exclaimed the way they were swiped away with Saṃhitā's personality, Daksh could only scoff stating
"...Mom?!!...for me...your decision and your faith in this girl is enough for deciding to marry her...I don't need see her...or meet her...I trust fully with you..." as Daksh pecked her hands, Dharani could only bless her most obedient child who smiled under his pain.
"...very well then!!...Shekarji?!!...let's have a meet with them...and decide on the engagement...I think...we can..." as the excited Dharani laid down her plan for a pompous wedding, Daksh interrupted her with a small request.
"...Mom?!!...lets skip the engagement...and prepare for the marriage...coz...um...I have this very important conference next month...which I can't ignore...as Dad also knows it...and I would like to extend our company reach to the middle east parts of the world...so, yeah...please!!"
His words only made the parents a little sad but as Daksh explained the reason behind the fast-track marriage, Dharani could only fulfil his little wish.
The next day morning
Tribhanga Nivas
"..." as Vimala kept the call from Dharani her eyes watered with happy tears. She rushed to the garden area to convey the happy news to her family enjoying their morning snacks.
"..." Sandeep was in a fix, with Sanjay and Saṃhitā puzzled at how come the family wanted to directly arrange a wedding with skipping all the little rituals in between.
But when Vimala added that the prospectus groom had a foreign visit for a conference perhaps, could the family understand the hurry burry of the marriage.
So, it was decided to keep the so-called blind marriage in 20 days' time. The mothers were in a fix as they had a lot of shopping with very less time to spare.
In the first week
Dharani had invited the bride and her mother for the special wedding shopping in the bridal boutique along with her son.
Saṃhitā got a reason to have a face-to-face talk with her husband-to-be. As she wanted his personal opinion about this marriage. The parents take in this marriage was not enough for the confused bride and wanted a validation from the groom himself.
But alas,
As usual, the busy groom had skipped this first meet with the pretence of a board meeting with the foreign collaborators.
Saṃhitā had a slight hunch of the groom missing on purpose to not see the scarred bride, perhaps.
'...is he being forced for this marriage!...I need to know!...coz I will not forgive myself for sacrificing a humble man...just for the sake of his family's short time happiness...' her thoughts encouraged her to have the specific talk now more urgently, before things go out of hand.
Daksh's office
The man twirled his chair as his heart bleed a little on giving up his search for his green-eyed damsel. How he wished that he would have not been so hesitant to convey his heart's feeling to his family?
But when he saw the way his mother's excitement on finding the perfect bride for him, after a long turmoil; made him content to follow her trial for his marriage.
Maybe this is what destiny wants him to be. He mocked himself at bringing destiny into the matters which he could have handled like a true businessman.
Second week
Vimala and Dharani decided to take the bridegroom to select their wedding rings as per their choice to the jewellery shop.
As Saṃhitā found her groom missing again, she understood that it was now high time to have the particular talk with him asap.
In the evening
Shivalaya Mansion
As Daksh dried the towel on the chair, he scrolled through his phone for any messages from his secretary.
Ring!
Ring!
An unknown number.
He picked the call, on being curious of an unknown number making a call at such an odd time.
"...um...this is Mr. Daksh...right?" as the soft mild voice enquired he hummed in response to a relaxed sigh.
"...hello!...I am Sandeep's daughter... Saṃ..." as Saṃhitā tried to disclose her identity but he interrupted her with a chuckle.
"...um...hi...any reason you called..." his question made her a little sad with the initial jitters being replaced with confusion.
"...yes...actually I wanted to meet you...to you know...have a talk regarding this arrangement..." her fashioned words did make the CFO laugh but he composed himself.
"...um...yeah...I want to meet you too...but the thing...I have this very important conference which needs my unvaried attention...and moreover, since we are having this talk right here?...I think we can have the meeting here itself...which you wanted...hm?"
Saṃhitā hummed in response to another line of his excuse to not meet her, but she thought to ask his approval on this marriage.
Daksh was happy that she was mature enough to ask him about his take in the marriage, making him have a little likeness towards her.
As he confirmed that he was more than happy with his parent's decision, and was not lucky enough to meet her in person.
Saṃhitā humbled herself by saying that she would truly want to meet him at least once before the wedding.
Daksh promised her that he would and wished to have a proper talk with her.
As they could clear their initial formal talks, Daksh thought to have an informal conversation with her lovely voice resonating from the phone.
Daksh loved her mild voice with a composed and confirmed way of talking. She didn't hurry in her talks and was always precise on what she wanted to tell or hear.
Sam. Much closer to Saṃhitā.
He shrugged his revocable thoughts which would always jump to her – Saṃhitā. He needed to come out of his infatuation and not let this effect his marriage with Sam.
Two days before marriage
Daksh smiled as he kept his call with Saṃhitā as she wished him best luck for his presentation with the board.
Dharani told him to at least attend the mehndi ceremony to which he just again excused himself from the hula bola of the wedding ceremonies.
He didn't have the courage to sit and not remember her. His Saṃhitā. His heart was not able to forget her and would always remember her at the oddest of time.
