(1)My first day
This is my first day at a new school. It's not like it's a new thing to switch schools. I got expelled twice, and we moved a couple times. Mind you, I got expelled for a thing I didn't do once, which sucked. This school is small, about 150 kids, but it has a very high reputation. The kids here are a little rowdy like me, but it's still very controlled. Apparently, everyone knows everyone, so it'll probably be hard to find friends.
My name is Roman and I'm 16. I'm little bit rowdy, and I think people dislike me pretty easily. I have an older sister who is in college right now, and my parents are divorced. That hasn't affected my life in the slightest though, surprisingly. We moved to America from the northern part of Canada, and I'm so not ready for the summer. My family is also middle class, so we're not in poverty.
I'm already pretty close to the front doors of the school, there's a group of presumably seniors at the entrance, leaning against the wall of the building. One of them is blonde, and has a short pony tail, and general looks like a sketchy person. I'm kinda trying to stay far from him, I don't want to fight. But if we do end up fighting, I'll bash that dude's skull in.
"Hey, new kid!" The guy walked up to me, but still keeping a distance. "Why the hell are ya here?" "I'm going to this school." I would've added dumbass, but I didn't want to fight right now. "Stay away from everyone, it's not like you'll find friends. If you try, you're gonna get beaten to shit. I, Dio-" So that's his name, I thought. "…Have told you so,so you better listen." Dio then walked back towards his group.
Walking through the hallways was a bit eerie, everyone was staring me down. It was unpleasant, but I did get to the principal's office. I knocked, and the door was thrown open almost immediately. Out exited a very pissed looking kid. He had long blonde hair with funky curls at the ends. The boy had a very special aura about him, he radiated polite anger somehow. He stormed off to, presumably, a classroom.
The principal, Mr. Joestar, sat me down. He welcomed me to the school and assured me I'd find many friends. After a short talk he gave me my timetable and asked if I wanted a dorm here. "If you live far away, there are also dorms here on campus. If you'd like one, I can give you the papers and you'll need to let your parents know." I did live pretty far away, so I asked for the papers. "You have social studies right about now, should I get someone to show you around, or will you find it yourself?", he smiled. "Can you give me directions, please?" I asked very politely, trying not to show that I was really nervous.
I carefully knocked. Through the door I heard: "Oh! That must be the new student! Caesar, could you kindly get the door?" I heard murmuring and the door opened. The boy was a very light blonde with piercing green eyes. I could feel his gaze on my back as I walked inside. "Why don't you come up here and introduce yourself?" Great. Now I had to be known to all. "My name is Roman, I'm 16. I'm looking forward to my time in this class." Everyone was looking at me, and I started to feel uncomfortable. The teacher gestured to an empty seat, and I promptly sat down.
Next to me was that same boy from earlier, near the principal's office. I got out my stuff and looked around. There were two boys flirting at the back, and they looked cute. One had dark skin and funky earrings, and the other oddly styled silvery hair. Caesar and his friend were passing notes, and a couple kids were actually paying attention. I felt a light tap on my shoulder from behind. I turned around to a young looking boy with a strange pompadour and an even stranger fashion sense. "Welcome to hell!", he whispered, laughing. "I never left!" I whispered back, and we both chuckled. Luckily, the teacher didn't acknowledge it. Suddenly, a voice from beside startled me. "Shut it you two, I'm actually trying to get an education here." The guy from before retaliated: "Mind yo business Valentine." So the dude's name was Valentine. Cool. I threw him a quick, polite apology and the lesson continued.
The lunch bell rang, and I sprinted out into the hallway. "Hey, wait up!" , shouted someone from behind. It was Valentine. "What's up?" I turned around. "Sorry about that thing earlier. Y'know, with the "shut it" and all?" "Oh no no, it's ok!" I smiled. I actually thought he might turn out to be one of those assholes, y'know? But I was wrong, as I often am. "Umm… so… wanna go eat lunch and hang out I guess?" ,I asked pretty awkwardly , and he nodded.
We sat down at a one of those lunch tables, and I got out my lunch: a couple of classy sandwiches. I had 4 to be exact, which was a little too much considering I could sustain myself on about half a bread slice for a day without getting hungry. Valentine didn't seem to have any lunch, so I politely asked: "Hey man, you want a sandwich? It's a lil too much for me, so you can have two or three if you want." He looked at me and carefully took a sandwich, then slowly bit into it. His eyes started to sparkle and he began chewing faster. I smiled, finishing my sandwich. Mental note: Valentine likes these sandwiches. I have no clue how that's gonna help, but whatever.
"I guess we're friends now. Huh. I haven't had friends in a long time." Valentine and I were sitting on the school rooftop. Not a lot of kids went here, sometimes just the group known as "the Duwang gang", but mostly just Valentine. He turned to me. "Really? You're super chill, how did you not have friends?" "I dunno, I just sorta was like a comedic relief in school, not seen as a separate person. Not in a bad way, just… people kinda just liked me for the jokes I cracked, not me as a person if you know what I mean." Valentine sighed. "I'm also kind of in the background, y'know? People know I'm there, but don't really talk to me." All of a sudden there were quick footsteps. A boy no older than 17 rushed up and looked around, panting. "What ya lookin' for, kid?" Valentine addressed the disheveled boy. "Have you seen… Yusaho?" he said, looking around. "Nope, sorry, she didn't come here. I didn't see her. Have you, Roman?" Valentine looked at me, and the other boy immediately turned his gaze over to me. "Who the heck is Yusaho?" "Pink braided hair, always wearing shorts-" "Wasn't she over at the lunch table beside us?" The other boy gained composure and exclaimed: "I-I'll go check there!" And he was off. "Thanks!" was the last thing we heard before he disappeared down the stairs.
The rest of the day was pretty boring, just classes. We got through, and the dismissive bell rang. Everyone poured into the hallways, and Valentine and I made our way to our lockers and then to the front door. Outside, I spotted Dio. He was staring me down, like a fox would an unsuspecting rabbit. Valentine tugged me by the collar. "Don't look at him, he's just gonna come over here and put you down, that's not something good."
We got off of the school premises and I said goodbye to Valentine at the bus stop. Now I'm back home, and mom said I can stay in a dorm, so I'm basically packing my shit rn. Anyways, I gotta go now, bye!
