8| Whoa, Slow Ya Chiz
☆ DESTINY ☆
Destiny was crying hard.
She was not expecting Kiandre to reject her.
Albeit she kind of was, because they had barely known each other for that long.
But she wasn't expecting Kiandre to reject her the way in which he had rejected her.
Look Destiny. You're an amazing & sweet girl and all, but I only like you as a friend. Also, you're kind of out of my league... but that's a good thing. You're too good for me.
Who on Earth had rejected somebody like that?
One didn't compliment someone and then hurt their feelings. It just wasn't right.
But then again, Kiandre didn't want to be a hundred percent rude to her, so he didn't know what else to do.
Right now, Destiny was crying really really heavily on Valentina's shoulder. She did not face rejection well.
And that was her first rejection from a guy too, making it twice as worse.
"No, baby girl don't cry," Valentina assured her. "It's his loss, babe. Honestly."
But Destiny couldn't stop going on about how Kiandre had rejected her.
It was his loss, yeah, but it was also kind of her loss too as well because from the conversations she had with him, Kiandre had actually seemed like a pretty nice person.
Pfft. Until now.
In fact screw that.
He had rejected her nicely.
He even said that she was out of his league... whatever that meant.
Destiny really couldn't hate Kiandre though. She would rather have had him tell the truth to her than lie to her, that was for sure.
The truth hurt, yeah, but a beautiful lie had hurt even more than that & Destiny did not want to live with that.
"How did he reject you chica, if you don't mind me asking?" Valentina wanted to know, sitting her down on the wooden chair next to them.
Destiny had only explained that Kiandre had rejected her, but he didn't say how.
Why was obvious, he didn't feel the same way... but just not how.
So she had explained everything. How Destiny had been rejected by him. And what he had said as well.
"He said I was an amazing girl..."
"Ooh, yes girl!"
"...But then he said that he only liked me as a friend."
Kiandre rejecting Destiny was kind of like a birthday gone wrong.
Or like something good happening but then it had gotten worse afterwards.
Kind of like this:
Someone had a gotten birthday present for someone else.
They had told them it was something that they had really liked.
Wait for it...
Wait for it...
They had opened the present.
Yeah.
No.
The present had absolutely sucked.
When Valentina had heard of Destiny being rejected, she was not very happy at all.
"Uh oh. No girl," she shook her head. "No-licious. No-tastic. No-cali-fra-jalistic-expi-ali-"
"Valentina," Destiny hissed. "I get it." She then sat down on the chair next to her, sighing before placing a hand on her chin in boredom.
"Everything is just so anti-climatic," Destiny complained. "He even said that I was out of his league. The heck does that mean?"
It meant that you were out of his league.
Keep up, Destiny.
Jeez.
Apparently, this was a compliment though, but Destiny didn't really see how or why.
When she had told Valentina that Kiandre had also told her that she was too good for him, this got her thinking about why that was a good thing.
"Yeah, hun, it's very anti climatic," she lamented. "But hey, maybe he was foreshadowing something."
"Foreshadowing what though?"
"Maybe Kiandre doesn't want you to lower your standards for him," Valentina unfolded. "Maybe he knows your expectations & he feels like he's below them. Like he can't meet up to them. Basically, he believes he's below your expectations."
Whoa, Kiandre thought that?
Wow.
Destiny kept thinking he was so flawless, that maybe he didn't have his own insecurities, but he did.
Just like her.
Kiandre was far from flawless though, Destiny just didn't realise it. Yeah, so he was kind of a goody two shoes right now, but that didn't necessarily mean that he didn't get in trouble at times, because he did.
Even Destiny did.
Not as little as Kiandre probably, but she did.
"But Kiandre isn't below my expectations, girl," Destiny argued, lying down on Valentina's lap. "He is my expectations. He's beyond my expectations."
Yeah she was obsessed alright.
She was so obsessed with Kiandre that the doctors wouldn't have been able to cure her disease/ addiction.
Valentina had to reassure her that rejection was God's protection, so maybe there was something bad about Kiandre that God saw but Destiny didn't, eventually making the conclusion that Kiandre wasn't right for Destiny.
Then she warned Destiny that she should have stopped putting on her rose coloured glasses, and just because Kiandre seemed perfect didn't mean that he was, because he wasn't.
Far from it.
"Aight, imma call the entire crew now because I don't think I can cheer you up by myself," she announced, dialling Esmeralda's number on her rose gold iPhone.
Right now, Esmeralda, Janette & Calista were outside in the Cadillac eating McDonald's, but when Esmeralda heard her phone ring and realised it was Valentina, she had picked it up immediately.
Their conversation was kind of short but Valentina had pretty much told her that their baby girl Destiny was upset, and like Valentina, when Esmeralda had heard what Kiandre had done to Destiny as well, she wasn't very happy about it either.
"Kiandre did what?"
"Kiandre rejected Destiny."
"Kiandre rejected my baby?"
"Yeah," Valentina whispered again, because Destiny was too embarrassed, upset and ashamed to say anything. "Kiandre did that. Exactly that."
Boy was this going to be talked about at school and church for that matter for years & years & years...
But Destiny just had to ignore them.
Rumours are carried by haters
Spread by fools
And accepted by idiots.
Destiny had read that quote before, and it was true.
But the worst bit was that Kiandre rejecting her wouldn't have been a rumour... it would have been the truth.
"Oh no he didn't, girl." Esmeralda shouted. "Imma come here right now and imma whoop that guy's brain. Mess with Destiny or any one of us, you mess with the whole crew, boo."
Basically meaning that Esmeralda was on her way right now, along with Janette and Calista for that matter as well.
And they sure weren't kidding about this either.
In the blink of an eye, they were there, and for some reason, Esmeralda nearly had one of her shoes off, ready to hit someone with it any minute.
"If Kiandre thinks that he can just upset my baby girl's heart and get away with it, he's got another thing comin'" Esmeralda told Valentina & Destiny when they had arrived, with Calista and Janette following her. "Where is that idiot anyway? We have some serious talking to do."
Kiandre needed a break though as well.
It wasn't his fault that he had rejected Destiny- he just didn't feel the same way.
Destiny told Esmeralda to calm down, but it was no use as she literally wasn't going down without a fight.
In fact, she really didn't want her to talk to Kiandre so much that she had lied about where he was.
He hadn't left the shop, he had gone upstairs to meet Kassandra and Sekani. It was kinda a bit late for this but Kassandra had realised that the birthday present she had gotten for her boyfriend was a size too big by accident, so she therefore had to return it & get a new one instead.
Destiny didn't know this but she had kind of been eavesdropping on Sekani and Kiandre's conversation in the far distance so here they were.
Sekani & Kassandra were initially protesting not to leave the shop to the security guards of Richard Gold but that was becoming kind of stupid and rather pointless right now.
They were about to leave the shop for good until Kassandra had then remembered that she had to make a refund for her boyfriend.
Her boyfriend must have been some God or something as no one could have tolerated Kassandra, not even Kiandre himself sometimes.
But eh. Hopefully Kassandra's boyfriend was using her for something and was going to dump her later when he had gotten what he wanted, because she totally deserved that.
Rude but true.
Hey, the truth hurt, didn't it?
Checking to see if Destiny was actually telling the truth or not, Esmeralda had scanned the shop for Kiandre.
When she realised that Kiandre was upstairs with Sekani as Kassandra was waiting in line to return something, she became annoyed instantly before saying anything else.
"No, boo, he's upstairs," she corrected Destiny, who had just rolled her eyes. "Calista, hold my earrings, I've got a tough fight going on and Janette, you're coming with me."
Saying that, Esmeralda went upstairs, with Janette yelling that she had lived for drama and Calista warning Esmeralda that she was making a huge mistake.
That had just left Valentina and Destiny again, who had just stared at each other blankly.
"Erm... should we follow them?"
"Do we have a choice?" Valentina asked, raising an eyebrow at her.
Destiny didn't say anything, which was OK because Valentina had replied for her.
"Up the stairs we go," Valentina said reluctantly, twirling around with Destiny until they had followed their friends.
**********
"Whoa. Slow ya chiz. You seriously rejected Destiny?"
Kiandre was upstairs with Sekani, and he had just told him about what had happened with Destiny and him.
He didn't initially want to tell Sekani about this, but Sekani could tell something was up when he had seen his cousin frown for the first time since he had been there whilst looking seriously guilty about something at the same time.
When Kiandre had told Sekani that yes, he had rejected Destiny, Sekani just gasped at him.
Right now they were sitting near the mannequins upstairs, where the chairs where, waiting for Kassandra to come.
"I was not expecting that. But why'd you reject her?"
He sighed.
"I just didn't feel the same way I guess- why's that a bad thing? I can't control who I have feelings for. Is that a crime?"
"It ain't a crime, K," Sekani told him, sitting right next to him. "But something's telling me you made a mistake rejecting Destiny. A huge mistake rejecting Destiny, bro. And I ain't even joking."
