4| It's Like That, Y'all

Was meant to update tomorrow, but I've been feeling super inspired by this book lately so here ya go! xoxo :)

DESTINY

Destiny & Kiandre were finally alone at last.

She genuinely felt as though this day would have never come.

Although Destiny must have been daydreaming hard or something because Kiandre literally had to click his fingers right in front of her face to get her (full) attention again.

"Destiny," Kiandre echoed, staring her down. "You OK? You keep staring at me for no apparent reason."

Oh, there was a reason alright.

She loovved you.

But that wasn't really what Destiny was focused on right now.

Kiandre was way taller than her, Jesus Christ.

Destiny sereniity had to look up to meet the guy, as she was like three to five inches shorter than him. Kiandre was literally the walking definition of the Eiffel Tower.

But she still liked him, regardless of their height difference.

Destiny?

Pfft. Destiny didn't even know that she was staring at Kiandre.

She knew very well that she was staring; but she didn't know that she was staring at him long and hard enough to actually freak the guy out.

He probably thought she was some psychopath or something right now... but she wasn't.

"Yeah, I'm fine! I was just...." she needed a word that weren't the words 'admiring his face'. "Stunned."

That was better.

As Destiny had suspected, Kiandre was confused as hell.

He had raised an eyebrow at her kind of suspiciously, before laughing to himself & asking her why she was stunned in the first place.

Jesus. Even his laugh was cute.

He didn't have perfect teeth, but he nearly did.

Stop obsessing over him and answer his question before he thinks you're crazy, girl!

"Uhm, it's just.." she didn't know what to say to Kiandre so she had avoided answering his question altogether, "You asked me what I was doing here."

Destiny really needed some life lessons on how to talk to a boy she liked from her friends.

Valentina talked to guys all the time- why couldn't Destiny have just asked her for help in the past?

That thought hadn't really crossed her mind on time, and Destiny hated herself for it.

Luckily, to Destiny's surprise, Kiandre smiled. Not some sympathy smile... if that had existed.

An actual genuine smile.

"Yeah, I did ask you that, but answer my question first, haha."

She sighed.

Gosh, why was talking to Kiandre so hard?

Destiny had no other choice really, but to pray to God that everything would have been OK, and their conversation would have run smoothly.

And it did.

"I'm stunned because..."

Firstly she was talking to Kiandre properly without stuttering.

And secondly, she was talking to Kiandre properly without stuttering.

This was a huge accomplishment.

But she didn't say that. God told her what to say and she said it.

"I just wasn't expecting you to be here," she admitted truthfully. "Meeting you today was not something I was prepared for. I'm so sorry for acting weird earlier."

Kiandre smiled.

"Nah, man, it's fine. I wasn't expecting you to be here either. And you were acting weird, real weird, but imma just let that slide for now."

Thank God Kiandre didn't ask Destiny why she was acting so nervous before she said that she was stunned.

Destiny was not ready to tell him that she had a massive crush on him. She couldn't face rejection, especially from him.

Kiandre was kind of easily to talk to, surprisingly.

This was Destiny's proper conversation with him, and it was going amazingly.

"You asked what I was doing here," Destiny remembered. "I was shopping for Same Difference tonight, what about you?"

Kiandre was shocked as heck when he had heard what Destiny had just told him.

He nearly hit the rack behind him, as he was honestly that flabbergasted.

Why?

Because Destiny going to a nightclub, especially an 18+ nightclub, was like Kiandre giving up his Bible entirely.

Never.

Going.

To.

Happen.

Maybe Kiandre was wrong about her. Maybe she wasn't the goody two shoes he always thought she was... no disrespect to her.

"No chiz! You're going to that? I didn't know that! I'm going to that too!"

"I didn't know that either!"

Yes, you did, girl.

Yes, you did.

But Kiandre didn't need to know that, did he?

No.

No he didn't.

Can't wait for the nightclub party at Same Difference tonight, hit me up below in the comments if you're going!

That was what Kiandre's Instagram had said, but Destiny had suspected that he hadn't actually posted that himself because, well.

Kiandre would have never voluntarily gone to a nightclub.

Apparently, they were satanic. Destiny didn't know how nightclubs were satanic, but they just were, according to Kiandre.

So Sekani must have posted it. Destiny thought to herself. Or Kiandre's older sister Kassandra. Or someone else entirely, like Trevor or Kazenosuke.

Who were just two of Kiandre's best friends that went to the same football practise as him.

Destiny wanted to say something in the comments, but he had too many already (500+), so Destiny's comment would have probably & most likely gone unnoticed by Kiandre, and she didn't want that.

Plus, what would Destiny have said in the comments anyway?

Hey, Kiandre... I like you?

Not in a million years.

For someone not very popular in real life, Kiandre was surprisingly very popular on social media. It was also kind of suspicious too, but more surprising.

"But hold up, I thought you hate nightclubs."

"I do," Kiandre sighed, admiring the tuxedo in front of him, the one Sekani hated. "But my sister and Sekani are kinda forcing me to go, so here we are."

Then Destiny mentioned how her friends were forcing her to do the same thing, but she would have rather just stayed at home instead.

"I feel like I don't have my own opinion sometimes, you know what I mean? It's like everyone makes my own decisions for me but when I want to say something, they completely disregard me."

Hold up.

Was Kiandre just ranting about his feelings to Destiny?

Yes he is! Destiny cheered internally. I should probably tell him I feel the same way, but I shouldn't make it sound too weird.

"On a real level though, I totally feel the same way!" Destiny agreed, and she wasn't really lying about that either. "It's like my friends make all my decisions for me. I love them & all, but I can think for myself. I just wish they could notice this sometimes."

Then they had talked about miscellaneous things after that.

Kiandre wanted to know why Destiny had been so nervous to talk to him the whole time.

He had pointed out that this was probably her first ever proper conversation with him.

Apparently, Destiny had no experience with talking to guys-- until Kiandre mentioned Israel, who was her brother.

"Israel's different though. I live with him. Aside from him, I find it extremely hard to talk to guys. My friends can though."

Speaking of Destiny's friends, that was when Janette & Calista came, but not 'came ' in that way.

They left Esmeralda and Valentina to go and meet up with Destiny as they hadn't heard from her for quite some time now, so obviously being the amazing friends that they were, the two of them were almost deeply concerned about her.

Plus, they were taking way too long at the cashier, which inevitably annoyed Janette & Calista, so therefore they left, but they had told E & V that they were leaving, so that they wouldn't worry about them.

Janette was behind the same coat rack that Destiny had used to spy on Sekani & Kiandre, and she almost dropped her Skittles Krushem from KFC nearby when she saw what Destiny was going.

"No. Frickin'. Way."

"What's going on?" Calista whispered, only for Janette to squeal and unexpectedly jump up and down in delight, before sitting down on the chair in front of her.

Still watching Kiandre & Destiny.

"My baby girl is finally talkin' to Kiandre without stuttering!" She beamed, hugging Calista unexpectedly. "This is literally a dream come true!"

Calista, unlike Janette, seemed kind of distraught that the two of them were even there.

Probably because she didn't like spying on people, especially one of her best friends.

"I don't know, Janette, I don't think it's nice spying on Destiny like that. You know what she's like. Spying on them is bad."

"Oh, shush, Calista," Janette muttered-- but she had told Calista to be quiet in a nice way, of course. She could have been mean but not that mean. "Spying on them isn't bad. It's destiny. Literally."

Calista had just rolled her eyes before mentally face palming herself & sitting down on the chair next to Janette.

"Since I probably don't have a choice on whether I want to leave you or not... what do you think they're talking about?"

"Probably Same Difference. I mean, what else do they have in common aside from the fact that they're both going to Same Difference tonight?"

Then Calista mentioned what Kiandre and Destiny had in common, including but not limited to:

- They went to the same church.

-They were in the same drama class.

-They were very strong Christians.

-They were both extremely introverted, so therefore only had a small but close group of friends instead of a large and maybe distant group of friends.

"I was joking, sis," Janette smiled. "It was a rhetorical question." Then she kind of gasped after what Destiny was doing.

Before saying:

Ooh, she's tucking her hair behind her ear.

Then...

Ooh, she's looking down and smiling.

Then...

Ooh, they flirting!

Then...

"I see you girl, I see you!" Janette announced, smiling. "I'm proud of you, boo! Finally facing your fears of talking to Kiandre."

Calista just kind of laughed, maybe being with Janette wasn't so bad after all.

"Now that is how you talk to the guy you like without stuttering," Janette whispered, coming closer to her. "It's like that, y'all!"

Then she did the worst thing... she called Kiandre's name really loudly.

When Kiandre heard his name, Destiny called Janette's name... before calling Calista's.

"I thought you said you came here by yourself."

"No, I said I brought my friends," Destiny corrected him. "You just misheard me or interpreted what I said incorrectly."

Janette yelled 'yo Kiandre', but Kiandre didn't seem too ticked off about her and Calista's arrival.

He smiled at them, before asking Janette what she might have possibly wanted.

And it must have been pretty darn important too, as it had fully interrupted him and Destiny's conversation about the Drama club him and Destiny both went to & what play they believed was going to be rehearsed next.

"Be rude to my boo, and I'm gonna take care of you!"

Was that it?

She had interrupted their conversation for that?

Unbelievable.

"How?" Kiandre enquired, staring at Janette blankly.

"In a way that you won't expect. You won't know what will happen next."

"Yeah, she'll make you perplexed, so if I were you... don't make Janette vexed!" Calista added, fist bumping Janette after, making explosion noises after that then pretty much saying the word 'boom' at the same time.

Kiandre just laughed, with Destiny just wanting to know if Janette & Calista had been eavesdropping on their conversation the whole time.

She wasn't ticked off, no, she was smiling too... but she just wanted to know.

Unsurprisingly, Janette lied and said that she hadn't been eavesdropping but spying... as if that was supposed to make anything better.

It really didn't.

Destiny then laughed again before telling Kiandre to kindly take their conversation somewhere else, pushing him and walking off with him as if he had belonged to her all of a sudden.

"Told you spying on them was a bad idea, Janette, but you didn't listen." Calista warned her after both of them had left.

"They seemed to have nothing against it," Janette stated, interlocking her right arm with Calista's left arm. "Now come on girl, let's go back to Esmeralda & Valentina in the seventh out of tenth cashier."

And in the blink of an eye... they were off.
