12| You've Screwed Up. Bad. Real Bad

Picture at the top is just Kiandre & Kassandra's parents in the story & Sekani's aunty /uncle.

Kind of a longer chapter this time, sorry.

DESTINY

"My God," Sierra shouted, getting the popcorn from the cupboard and sitting down next to her husband again. "It's so peaceful without the gosh darn kids here to annoy us!"

Sierra & Damien Riverson were sitting down on their sofa watching a Romantic Comedy (Love, Actually) on the TV.

Kassandra, Kiandre and Sekani had gone to Richard Gold to shop for Same Difference tonight, but they still hadn't arrived back yet.

Neither of them knew that Sekani was planning on going even though he was underage (as he didn't tell them) but it was so quiet without those three there to disturb them.

Sekani was spending some time round at Kiandre's because his parents had gone on holiday and they didn't want him there.

But that may have been a joke.

His family couldn't have been blamed though: nobody wanted Sekani anywhere, not even his family. He was annoying, stuck up and a downright pain to be around.

In reality though, Sekani didn't want to follow them. He hated planes due to the 9/11 attacks in America, he hated holidays in general and he hated Mexico (where they were going) because it almost way too hot there half the time.

"Baby, I wish we could have more husband and wife time like this, do you know what I'm saying?"

Damien couldn't disagree with her though, he too had kind of wished they could have had more time like this too but they probably couldn't because of their kids and their nephew.

"Me too, Sierra," Damien replied, wrapping his arms around his wife as they curled up together on the sofa. "And they're going to that nightclub tonight, so maybe we can watch another romcom then?" He offered.

Sierra didn't say anything though, she just kissed her husband gently on the cheek before sharing the popcorn with him.

"And why the heck did we allow them to go Same Difference again?"

Same Difference was probably the worst nightclub for someone to ever go in.

Screw nightclub.

Place.

People almost always got drunk there because that nightclub was insane. It was the worst of the worst, but despite this: it was definitely the coolest and funnest.

No deaths though. That was too much.

"They kept pestering us," Damien answered. "And think about it, both Kiandre and Kassandra are extremely hard workers-they deserve it. And if that's gonna get them out the house then I'm on board, babe!"

Sierra smiled at her husband a little and was about to say something but stifled it when she had heard the doorbell go off.

It wasn't that the two of them didn't like their children...

They did.

They loved them.

But...

...They just weren't the quietest children to have or be around.

Especially Sekani.

Rolling her eyes, Sierra finished the popcorn, but she didn't answer the door and neither did Damien either.

"It's probably them," she realised.

"I ain't gettin' that."

Sierra had quietly muttered 'joker' to him before standing up to throw a pillow at him, and using the kitchen window to see who it really was, she opened the door after realising that yes, it really was Kiandre, Sekani and Kassandra.

Much to Sierra's irritation.

But she faked a smile.

"Mum!" Kassandra beamed, hugging her, spinning her round and round. "I'm in the best mood ever."

Kassandra didn't even let Sekani and Kiandre in the house before she had hugged her mother, so therefore Sekani had to rudely yell move to her in order for him & Kiandre to go past.

No, they didn't go home together, they went home separately but they ended up home at the same time together despite everything.

Kassandra being in a good mood was kind of a huge confidence boost for Sierra because usually Kassandra would have been a right pain in the derrière, always complaining about things.

"I can see that. How was Richard Gold?"

"Awesome!" Kassandra sing songed, happier than ever. "I got the best birthday present for my boyfriend. And dad-"

Kassandra then held her father's hand, who had unceremoniously walked into the scene because he felt bad for leaving Sierra all by herself.

"I want to tell you all about it!"

After that, Kassandra kind of then dragged her father to the kitchen without warning, showing him the football jersey she had gotten for her boyfriend's birthday.

In the meantime, Sierra was talking to Kiandre and Sekani about their day, Sekani being happy like Kassandra but Kiandre looking kind of pissed about something instead.

"How was Richard Gold, y'all?"

"Yo, it was tight, Aunt S," Sekani told her, fist bumping her. "Although my day was better than some others," he unhelpfully added, indirectly referring to Kiandre.

As Sekani had suspected, when Sierra had heard this, she was lowkey confused.

"What do you mean?"

"Ask Kiandre," was all Sekani was bothered to say, but he had still stayed where he was, because he couldn't be bothered to leave.

Kiandre in the meantime had given Sekani the dirtiest look of all time, with Sekani realising this but just smiling and winking at him in return, before nonchalantly putting his hands in his pockets.

Sierra noticed the annoyed look that Kiandre had given Sekani, so she couldn't really help to wonder why he was so annoyed and why his day was worse than Sekani's and not the other way around because Sekani hated shopping.

He didn't even want to go but Kiandre had kind of forced him to and here they were now.

"Kiandre honey, you look devastated, what's up?"

"I'm fine, mum!" He lied, through gritted teeth.

But then Sekani had told Sierra that he wasn't fine and that he had done something crazy and stupid instead.

Again, Kiandre stared at Sekani in annoyance but Sekani just disregarded that and smiled at him again.

"What did he do?"

"He rejected Destiny."

Sierra was beyond shocked when she had heard this, and was frankly quite furious at Kiandre for doing something so stupid.

"Destiny Ryan?"

"Heck yeah Destiny Ryan, girl!" Sekani replied loudly for the world to hear.

"Oh no, he didn't."

"Oh yes, he did."

Kiandre was beyond fed up now.

This was why he didn't like rejecting people.

First, only Destiny knew that Kiandre had rejected her, because she was the person that had been rejected in the first place.

Then Destiny told Valentina...

Then Valentina told Esmeralda, Calista and Janette...

Then some crazy events had happened.

But that was only Destiny's side of the story.

Kiandre stupidly told Sekani about the rejection, who had only told Kassandra.

Luckily (and quite unluckily as Destiny didn't deserve to be hated so much), Kassandra had absolutely hated Destiny to death so she had inevitably approved of Kiandre rejecting her.

But she didn't tell anyone about it. Either way though, she was completely on her brother's side for this.

Now stupid Sekani here told Kiandre's mum about the rejection, which he was trying to keep a secret away from her because Sierra loved Destiny, always saying that Destiny and Kiandre would have made a cute couple together in the future when both of them were allowed to date anyway.

Ironic considering Destiny and Kiandre had never really had a real conversation before today, but even then, their parents were quite close to each other, like two peas in a pod.

If it had made sense for two people to hardly talk to each other but their parents nearly be the best of friends, yeah.

"What in tarnation were you thinking rejecting Destiny, Kiandre?!"

"Mum, you don't understand.."

But Sierra didn't want to hear it, she had slapped her son hard.

"No, you listen to me, son," Sierra ranted angrily. "Do you know how faithful and loyal Destiny is?" She ranted, Kiandre kind of rolling his eyes in the process. "She never misses a day of church unless she's sick. She's so genuine and she's literally a angel from Heaven. Girls like that are hard to find in this messed up society!"

"Mhm. You tell him, Aunt S, you tell him."

Kiandre told Sekani to stay out of this, before shooting him another dirty look as he walked away...

Followed by the 'I'm watching you' signal, then Sekani eventually went off.

To the kitchen.

To silently eavesdrop on their conversation.

They were in the corridor and the kitchen was the closest place next to it.

Kiandre knew Sekani was eavesdropping right now but he couldn't be bothered to say anything because:

a) He wasn't very happy.
b) Sekani didn't listen anyway
c) He had gotten in trouble because of Sekani anyway, and he was going to deal with him later, just not now.

"I'm not even allowed to date anyway, and neither is Destiny either for that matter, so I don't get why you're so angry!"

"I know you're not allowed to date, but Destiny could have been the perfect girlfriend for you in the future, Kiandre," Sierra had condemned. "But now you've probably screwed things up forever, because goodness knows if Destiny is ever going to talk to you again, or forgive you for rejecting her!"

Kiandre was really really annoyed again.

He didn't even care if Sierra was his mother or not.

He wasn't having this anymore.

"I'm tired of y'all!" He shouted, loudly enough for both Kassandra and her father to hear them in the sitting room.

"I'm tryna have a decent day but how can I do that when y'all keep reminding me that I screwed up rejecting Destiny every ten seconds! I'm outta here!"

And saying that, Kiandre stuck to his word.

He dashed upstairs and angrily slammed the door behind him.

Now usually, Sierra or Damien would have told him off for doing that, but Sierra was too angry to do so, and Damien respected his son enough to know when to give him space.

Sekani had witnessed everything that had happened through the kitchen by eavesdropping, but he didn't say anything.

Maybe I took things too far? He thought to himself, coming out of the kitchen. I mean, I wouldn't like Kiandre pestering me every ten seconds for rejecting someone I shouldn't have.

He had then questioned that thought by adding something very contrasting to it.

Meh.

Screw that.

I never take things too far.

Sierra was frankly quite traumatised that her own son had just yelled at her, although she had calmed down a bit when Sekani had talked to her.

"I tried telling the dude that he had made a mistake rejecting Destiny but he didn't listen," he told her, smugly folding his arms. "He screwed up. Bad. Real bad."

Sierra was about to say something rude but stifled it, after taking into deep consideration what Sekani had just said.

"Hold up, you hate Destiny." She pointed out. "Why are you suddenly saying nice things about her?"

Sekani didn't even know the answer to that to be honest.

Neither Sierra or Damien knew that he was sneaking off to Same Difference tonight, so he couldn't have told them that.

"Uhm... people change, I guess?"

Yes they did. No argument with that.

But Sekani didn't really change.

He never usually did.

Sierra pointed this out to him, who had just rolled his eyes.

Then without even realising it, Sekani had told his Aunty why he was being nice to Destiny: Destiny's friend Valentina had made a deal with him saying that if he had been nicer to Destiny, then Destiny and her friends would have shut him about him being underage and going to Same Difference tonight.

As Sierra didn't exactly know that Sekani was planning to go to Same Difference tonight, she was absolutely furious when she had heard this.

Sekani realised way too late what he had said, as when he did, Sierra was already ranting at him that he wasn't allowed to go to SD because he was too young.

"Aw, come on, Aunty Sierra, that's totally whack," Sekani complained, following her into the sitting room where Kassandra and her father were talking still. "Please."

"No, Sekani, and that's final."

"But you let Kiandre and Kassandra go."

"Yeah, because they're actually the right age to go there, and unlike you, they actually work hard."

Sekani had stopped talking entirely, his eyes widening in shock surprise.

"Think about it, Sekani, ever since you've been here, all you've been doing is playing games. Even if you were the right age, you don't deserve to go to Same Difference tonight 'cause you don't work hard enough."

As this had made Sekani so mad (even though it was true), he had yelled that he had hated the entire family and he wished he had gone with his parents on holiday instead, as at least they had tolerated him.

Obviously, saying that had gotten him grounded by Damien, with both Sierra and him being absolutely furious at Sekani for what he said.

"Like I care," Sekani retorted, after Damien had told him that he was grounded. "Imma do a Kiandre and go upstairs because I'm done with this family too."

And saying that, he had also stuck to his word, going upstairs and swearing loudly a lot of times to himself.

Yeah, Destiny and Kiandre are eighteen but their parents don't want them to date until they're in university. It's still summer holiday. No point having long distance, is there?
