11| Are You Done Talkin'? Tell Me Baby Are You Done Talkin', Yeah?

Ryan Destiny & Keith Powers (Destiny & Kiandre in the story) are couple goals, I'm not even joking (if they're still together, I don't know if they are or not).

Enjoy! :)

DESTINY

As soon as Sekani had left the scene, Calista couldn't really help but to talk about the whole situation between him and talking to the three of them just now.

"Dang, Valentina really knows how to change a man," Calista commented. "It's so weird to see him be nice to us. He absolutely hates us because we're friends with Destiny."

"Word," Janette agreed. "It's so strange. But hey, maybe Valentina can change Kiandre's behaviour to make him fall in love with Destiny. That would be so cute."

Cute.

But unlikely.

Somewhat impossible, in fact.

Valentina could change people's behaviour, yeah.

But not forever.

She wasn't a miracle worker.

Plus Sekani being nice to Destiny was probably only going to be short lived anyway.

As in as soon as Same Difference was over, assuming Valentina hadn't revealed his age to anyone there & Destiny hadn't done anything stupid to upset Sekani or any one of his friends/family, Sekani was probably going to be mean to her again.

Then things would have gone back to square one.

Speaking of Valentina, she still hadn't really returned back yet with Destiny from McDonald's and this was driving everyone insane, especially Esmeralda as

a) she had to drive and
b) she was the most impatient.

"For goodness sake, what's taking Valentina and Destiny so long?" Esmeralda complained, honking her horn in annoyance. "I know the line in McDonald's can be long sometimes but not this long, jeez!"

They had been gone for years.

In fact, the word years was an understatement.

They had been gone since forever.

Not really, they had only been gone for twenty minutes, but it honestly didn't seem like it.

Janette had offered to call Valentina which both Calista and Esmeralda had agreed too, and after they had agreed to that?

Janette had called Valentina just like she had said she would.

Annoyingly, Valentina had picked up on the third ring, which was probably only because she was eating on the way to the Cadillac with Destiny, so they couldn't really pick up the phone due to oily fingers or something.

"Valentina? Where you and Destiny at, girl?" Janette ordered, putting her on speaker. "Hurry up, else we're finna driving without you if you don't come here in two minutes. The Cadillac won't drive by itself, you know."

She wished it could although it was impossible for someone to get everything they wanted all the time in this life.

"Sorry, there was a long line," Destiny apologised from the other end of the phone. "We on our way right now. Don't leave without us, and I really mean it!"

"I'll take that into consideration," Janette muttered. "Not. Hurry up, please. We're getting impatient, especially Esmeralda as she has to drive."

Then both of them had agreed to hurry up and just in time too: Janette had really used a two minute timer on them and there were approximately seven seconds left before they had driven off without them, just like they had said they would.

Esmeralda couldn't stop frowning in disgust due to how long they had taken, but she wasn't really disgusted, she was just frontin'.

"So we all here now, what now, chicas?" Valentina asked.

"What now?" Destiny repeated. "We finna go back to my house and get ready for Same Difference tonight, girl. You know what I'm sayin'!"

Then they drove off for good.

Destiny was also still kind of upset about Kiandre rejecting her, and wanted to kind of cry about it, but she didn't want to do that in public.

But obviously, she didn't say that.

She didn't want her friends perceiving her as weak, or obsessed with Kiandre... not that it had mattered what they had thought about her but still.

So Destiny had completely avoided all types of conversation about Kiandre all the way home.

Kiandre in the meantime was waiting for Sekani in his blue and black Mini Cooper, listening to some music on the radio.

Usually he had listened to gospel music (another reason Destiny had really liked him--he was highly religious and always showed it in everything he did, like her) but hadn't done so today as he had forgotten the CD for that at home.

So he was jamming to another CD he had:

Davido.

Just Davido.

Nothin' Else But Davido.

Long name for a CD but it was what it was.

And he was really really enjoying the song he was listening to right now, even if it wasn't gospel music like he almost always listened to.

Money fall on you

"Yes," Kiandre rejoiced, clapping his hands and shouting hallelujah to God.

Banana fall on you

"Amen."

Paparazzi follow you, 'cause I'm in love with you, eh

Are you done talkin'?
Tell me baby are you done talkin', yeah?
Are you done talkin'?
Tell me baby are you-

But then his music was interrupted by Sekani who had unceremoniously and kind of uninvitedly entered and walked right into the scene.

"Kiandre," Sekani beckoned from outside the car door, banging on it hardly for Kiandre to let him in.

But sadly, Kiandre's windows were winded up to the max, and he was enjoying the music too much to actually know or realise that Sekani was waiting for him to open the door.

I don't wanna be a player no more
I don't wanna be a player no... more
'Cause ma guys call me Cristiano
Mr Ronaldo

"Kiandre!" Sekani yelled again, even louder this time.

Luckily though, Kiandre had heard him this time, so he had therefore stopped his music to open the door for him, where Sekani had annoyingly entered the car.

"Sekani, I'm so sorry, I didn't hear you before."

"Too busy jammin' out with your Afrobeats CD to notice me heavily banging on the door?" He shouted angrily, zipping his seat belt next to him. "Not good enough!"

Kiandre felt really guilty for locking his younger cousin outside the car, but at the same time he didn't because he had actually kind of deserved it.

He had switched the CD entirely so as not to get distracted by it but didn't say anything else because he was trying to think of what to say that hadn't hurt Sekani's feelings.

Even more than it was already hurt for locking him outside unknowingly.

"Look, I know you're mad at me bro but in my defence, last week you did accidentally leave me locked outside after returning something from the library so you can't really complain much."

Sekani didn't say anything: he hated losing arguments.

Especially to Kiandre.

No offence to Kiandre but he was literally the worst person at arguments.

And talking to people.

For example, when Destiny had confessed she had feelings for him:

I really like you, Kiandre.

I mean, I don't blame you. And I like you too.

Then the number one most anti climatic statement of all time:

As a friend, right?

No, baby, why did you say that to Destiny?

It had completely ruined Destiny's mood!

But Kiandre hadn't lost every single argument with people though, of course he didn't.

He wasn't that bad at arguments.

Just not the best at them.

Instead, Sekani had just slouched down in his seat (with his seatbelt still on) still frowning to himself before saying anything else.

"Aight, fine, you're forgiven," he deadpanned, folding his arms in annoyance. "And Davido? Seriously?"

"He underrated as hell, S," Kiandre said, starting the car and actually driving. "But level with me. How'd things go with Destiny's crew?"

It was kinda cute how he had referred to Destiny's friends as their crew. But Sekani had just referred to them as her friends, sometimes Destiny's Child, because he was normal.

But wasn't he done with Destiny?

He had literally shouted:

I am absolutely done to death with Destiny!

He had probably said that out of anger though... he most likely didn't actually mean it.

And he didn't.

When Sekani had heard what Kiandre had asked, he had kind of bragged a little bit, combing his hair with the imaginary comb he had, using the rear view mirror to do so.

"If you want the truth, it was pretty tight, if I do say so myself," Sekani boasted, smiling like crazy. "Let's just say I had a little promise with them."

"Promise?" Kiandre scoffed, looking at Sekani blankly.

"Yeah, bro. You heard me. A promise."

Then Kiandre had inevitably asked Sekani what he had promised them, with Sekani correcting him on what the girls had promised him, which he had said in an extemporaneous rhyme.

"Whilst you were in here chillin' in the car, I told the girls they were takin' things too far. They ain't happy with the way things are, but I changed things for the better, 'cause I am a star."

It wasn't really unlike Sekani to not come up with rhymes on the spot.

He had done so before and he had just done it now.

For example, he liked a girl his age at school before she had moved, and he had said this rhyme to her:

Hey, new kid, I think you're cute
But when I'm around you, I go mute
So I decided to play some of my flute

He could actually play the flute, and funnily enough, it had impressed the girl and they got together.

Ha!

In Sekani's dreams.

The opposite thing happened.

It drove her away and she never saw him again.

Sekani believed it was her loss and not the other way around but it

Really

Really

Wasn't.

The last rhyme Sekani had said on the spot was the one of Kiandre's birthday:

Hey bro
You smell as nice as those chocolate crescents
Don't get at me
But I forgot to buy ya
A birthday present

You didn't get me one
So I kinda wanted to get you back
But if it makes ya feel better
Ya still the leader of the pack

Happy birthday Kiandre!

What kind of birthday "present" was that?

That had inevitably made Kiandre absolutely furious and he hadn't really talked to the guy for the rest of the day, arguing that two wrongs didn't make a right, whilst simultaneously bringing up the Bible passage Romans 12:21 which said:

Do not overcome evil with evil, but overcome evil with good.

Obviously, Sekani had made up more on the spot rhymes but if all of them were mentioned, then it would have taken several lifetimes to do so as he had made up a lot.

Kiandre was quite impressed that Sekani had made up the rhyme, even though he had done so before, before asking him if he had really just made that up on the spot and if the girls and him were all cool now.

"Yeah, we cool," hopefully, but Sekani wasn't going to say that for clear reasons. "Now come on bro, let's go home and get ready for Same Difference tonight!"

Hearing that, both Kiandre and Sekani cheered happily in the car by shouting whoop whoop really loudly for all of the UK to hear.

But unfortunately for them, things had only really gone downhill from there because as always, not everything in life had gone completely as planned.
