Old friends

I ran and ran as far as I could away from that. The building that held the truth of my adoption...except it wasn't an adoption it was a sale. My own birth parents didn't even want me, they sold me off to strangers literally SOLD me off.

I finally found a little alleyway it was dark, and small. There were two dumpsters on either walls and steam at the far end appearing from a grate in the ground, it smelt like garbage and I guessed it was from the two dark green dumpsters.

I sit behind one of the dumpsters and cry my heart out, my sobs echoed through the alleyway so I tried to muffle them with my knees but failed. How could they have just sold me off like that?

20 minutes later and I got up from my spot and dusted myself of it started to rain and I needed to find somewhere undercover. I walked out from the dank alleyway and looked around the streets were less busy and congested now but still people hurried from place to place. I looked around and found a bar looking around it didn't seem like I had much other choice there were just lots of apartments.

I looked to see if any cars were coming and then hurried across the road and into the bar. It was full of teenagers...teenage guys whose eyes all turned on me. Most of them were sitting at boots that sat against the entire left beige wall. The rest were up the back playing pool, smoking and drinking.

I take a seat at the oak wood bar and sit on the red stool that jutted out. A guy that looked about 25 and had curly light brown almost red hair turned around and seemed surprised to see me. "Can I help you miss? Are you lost?" his voice was nasally and whiney. I shook my head and half smiled "Yes but that's not the problem. Do you serve chocolate milks?" he gave me a strange look "Yeah sure." He grabbed some from the ice box beneath the bar and poured some into a standard glass then handed it to me. "Thanks." I smile and give him a quarter.

"You know you look oddly familiar." I heard someone say. I finished taking a sip of my chocolate milk and then turn to my left to face him. He was tall and tan; he had dark brown almost black hair that fell in wisps across his face and kicked out at the nape of his neck, his piercing green eyes stared into mine. He had a scar that led from his temple to the bottom of his ear.

"Really? I have never been here before."  "You know if you weren't blonde and had brown eyes you'd look an awful lot like an old friend of mine." I gave him a confused look and then took another sip of my chocolate milk. "Well I do have a twin brother called Dallas Winston. He used to live around here I think he has brown eyes and is a brunette."

A look of recognition and astonishment flashed across his face. "No way you can't be Dallas's sister! You're absolutely gorgeous and Dallas looked like a cat's bum." I burst out laughing at his comparison. "That's quite a comparison but thankyou and he actually is." "Then how come I never saw you around here when he used to hang out with us?" I took a deep breath having to return back to my problems. "We only just found out we were related." I say meekly and sadly. I think the stranger could sense something was off and didn't press it any further.

"What's your name?" he asks me. "Rosalie Mayfield. And yours?" I ask taking another sip of my chocolate milk. "Bruiser." "Bruiser?" I raise my eyebrows and choke slightly on my drink. "Yeah I got the nickname for the massive bruises I cause in fights and rumbles with my ring." He shows me his metal ring which had a skull in the centre surrounded by leaves almost like a skull emerging from the bushes. "Nothing like yours though, man you'd sink right to the bottom of the ocean wearing that thing. Is it an engagement ring?"

I quickly changed the subject "That's an interesting ring. It looks familiar." It did look really familiar but I couldn't place where I had seen it before. "Dallas has one like it to that's where you've seen it before." I looked back up at him puzzled "How di-" "I am good at reading people." He interrupted me, I nod in understanding. "So where is ole' Dal anyway?" I look down at my feet and take a deep breath in "I don't know." I sigh. "I do...he's right behind you." I spin around and see Dally drenched and surprised also angry to see me.

"Dallas." I whisper and the whole bar goes quiet. "Dallas Winston Well I never thought I'd see your ugly mug again." Bruiser chuckles and walk up to Dally grabbing his hand and slapping his back like a man hug. Dally grins "Hey man, long time, no see." "You've been holding out on us man, your sister is great." I chuckle slightly at what Bruiser says and then look around to see many of the guys walking up to Dally it's like he was a rock star here.

After a few minutes of all the guys surrounding Dally and then catching up on their lives, some started to disperse out of the bar and back around to the pool table. Dally comes and sits next in between Bruiser and I.

"You know what I like Benny." Dal says the bar guys already had chocolate milk in his hands ready to give to Dallas. "We really are twins." He smirks and looks at my milk then takes a sip of his chocolate milk.

"So Dal what you up to these days?" Bruiser questions. "I live in Tulsa now man still breaking the law every other day thought and still have the worse reputation." He chuckles proudly. "Same old Dally, you haven't changed a bit." Bruiser sneers.

Suddenly a lot of yelling and commotion erupted from the back of the bar I looked over to see about 3-4 guys throwing punches and jabbing pool sticks. Dally grabs my arm tightly "Come on let's get out of here." He says lowly and drags me out of the bar Bruiser follow us.

"What was that Dal? You never walked away from a fight." "I grew up, if it ain't my fight I have no business being in it besides I have to look after Rosalie. She's fragile and weak she could never look after herself here." He snaps at Bruiser who just rolled his eyes "Sure what ever Dal." Anger boiled inside me and I yanked my arm away. "Weak? Fragile? You are kidding me aren't you? You have no idea what I'm capable of! I am a lot stronger than you could imagine. I mean I worked my way to Tulsa left my parents, house and life to find you." I shout and shove him slightly.

"Rose I'm sorry, I'm just on edge from earlier." He says lowly. "Awh come on you guys this is depressing let's go do something fun." Bruiser cheers and Dally and I both agree to go.
