Guess who's coming to dinner?

After 6 long hours of driving and a hotel stop so we could all have a rest we eventually came to Tulsa, Oklahoma, “miss I need to get gas so maybe we could ask the boys at the gas station if they know this Dallas Winston.” Rudi suggested. I thought it was a pretty good idea, “Good Idea Rudi.” I said back. Rudi pulled up to the gas Station and before I got out I fixed my hair as a lady prides herself on being presentable especially in the presence of men. That is what I had always been taught by mother, I stepped out of the car and went inside while Rudi filled up the car. I walked up to the door and pushed it open and heard the dinging of the bell that signalled someone was in the store. “Can I help you?” I heard a voice say, I looked up to see who it belonged to and saw the most handsome man in all my life. He had golden hair that shined in the light, he had it combed back, he had dark brown eyes that perfectly complemented the rest of his features, he also had a big grin on his face that made me all gooey on the inside. I took a second to collect my thoughts and pull myself together. “Uh…I mean yes Do you know where I could find a Mr Dallas Winston?” I asked, his smile vanished and his face turned into shock as well as curiosity “No but I do know him.” He said slowly “Out of curiosity why do you want to find him?” he asked standing up from behind the counter. “It’s a personal matter; do you think you could help me find him?” I walked closer towards him. “Yeah of course, I think he is coming around to my house tonight would you like to join us for dinner?” His voice sounded so dreamy that trying to talk back to him without messing up all my words was hard. “I wouldn’t want to intrude on you and your family.” I politely replied but wishing I could just go so I could spend more time with him. “Oh no it’s no trouble I’m sure my brother would be fine with it.” He smiled back, he leant on a Sunglasses rack but it crumbled under his weight and he stumbled before tripping over a cardboard box that was just lying on the ground. Both Dianne and I laughed and he blushed really hard smiling at the ground. I walked over and offered my hand to help him up, he took it and stood up. For a moment there we just looked at each other before I quickly looked away “I don’t know your name.” I stated. “OH right my name is Sodapop Curtis and that guy over there is Steve.” He pointed to a guy outside who had big biceps, black hair, blue eyes and funny looking teeth. “My name is Rosalie Mayfield and this here is Dianne Emmerson.” I gestured over to Dianne and she just smiled and nodded. “Soooo um what time should we come over?” I asked smiling and looking at Dianne at the same time.  “Right now, we are about close up.” he said tidying up the Sunglasses mess. “Sure we will wait outside and follow you” I walked out and waited in the car with Dianne and then told Rudi to follow the boys. They had a pickup truck that I think may have 20 years old, judging by how worn out it was. We followed the boys to a poor neighbourhood I suddenly had doubts about where I was going I didn’t think twice about the invitation. What if I was going to some hoods home? What if they were dangerous? We pulled up out the front of a small house that looked like it was falling apart and hadn’t been touched in years. The boys got out of their pickup truck and waited for Dianne and I to get out. I slowly got out of the car and walked in through the front gate that creaked as I opened it. I followed them up the stairs and into the house, as Soda opened the door for me I walked inside and took a deep breath as I saw the shabby décor. Almost everything was run down and falling apart, compared to my mansion full of antique, priceless furniture and sculptures this was a massive change. I could have screamed a little but then I Sodapop came up from behind me and put his things down on the coffee table, “I know it ain’t much but it’s ours and we don’t mind it.” He sounded nervous and insecure probably thinking I must have been judging HIS HOME. It wasn’t my house and I shouldn’t judge people on their possessions, “No it’s lovely, very humble.” I smiled trying to pass as if I wasn’t a stuck up bitch that judged him on his home straight away. “It’s probably a lot different to what your used to.” He said. “Like I said your house is lovely.” And it was when I thought I about it because it looked lived in and had the touch of love, whereas if you walked into my house it seem as if it was a museum because it was so clean and full of antiques and fancy furniture. Sodapop was right though it was very different to what I was used to, just then two boys walked into the living room they both looked no older than 16. “Ponyboy, Johnny this is Rosalie and Dianne they are joining us for dinner.” Sodapop said as he walked over to the TV and turned it on. “Oh hi there I’m Ponyboy and this is Johnny.” He smiled and sat on the couch, “Hello-I smiled- um could you please direct me to the powder room I would like to freshen up before dinner.” I asked politely looking around the room. “Geeze Soda you got yourself a fancy one here.” Steve said with a mouthful of food that nearly made me barf. “Oh shut up Steve. It’s just down the hall first door on the right.” He smiled and turned back to the TV. “Thankyou Sodapop.” “Call me Soda.” He said as his gaze was fixed on a cartoon of Mickey Mouse. I got all excited inside but I couldn’t understand why so I just calmly said thankyou and told Di to get my suitcase she ran out the door and brought it back and put it in the bathroom. “I walked in and closed the door. I washed my make-up off and put more on, I redid my hair and put on a red dress that had thick straps, a satin sash around the middle and a pencil skirt. I left my flats on though and walked back out to the living room so that Di could get changed. All eyes fell on me and now there were two more pairs of eyes. Most people would blush but I didn’t because I was used to people staring at me being from a high class family and attending many openings, balls and events growing up. So I just asked who the two new people were, “Sorry, I’m Darry and this is Two-Bit.” He pointed to the guy standing next to him still unable to take his eyes off me so Darry smacked up upside the head. “Oi what was that for?” he winged pouting, “For being you.” Darry grinned and walked into the kitchen.  “Wow you guys have a bunch of original names around here it’s great.” I grinned and sat down in the arm chair back straight and sitting like a lady should. I was also telling the truth because I loved all these different names compared to the ones back home which all sounded like snobby rich white names. “Yeah our parents were real original people” Ponyboy said proudly, “Your all related?” I raised my eyebrows, “Well Darry is Pony’s and my older brother he’s been looking after us ever since our parents died in a wreck and well Steve has been my best friend since grade school. Two-Bit just started hanging around us one day and Dally used to live in New York then one day came here and started hanging out with us.” Soda explained to me. “Which one is Dally?” I asked Soda. “He is the one you were lookin’ for earlier.” “Yep here I am.” Dally said as he walked through the front door. “Hey who’s the good looking broad here?” He asked leaning on the door frame. My mouth dropped open in shock and horror, my brother was just some hood and a sleazy one at that. “My name is Rosalie Mayfield.” My voice was trembling a little, “Dallas Winston, so what’s a sexy thing like you doing here?” he asked like he was trying to seduce me. I nearly puked, I was his sister but I was having my doubts about that we just seemed so different.  Then before I could stop myself I blurted out “I’m your twin sister.”
