Chapter 7 : Shifting closer

29th january 2000, Ahmedabad

"Kya hua tujhe?", Vinod questioned her. "Mujhe kya hoga, kuch nahi."  "Sach sach bata Naina, kya chal raha hai?"  "Yeh kaise sawal hai, kuch chal nahi nahi raha".  "Ek hafte se dekh raha hoon, badal rahi ho, muskura rahi hoon, gungunna rahi ho, chakkar kya hai?"  "Kuch nahi", Naina said realising what he was hinting at. "Jaisa tum soch rahe ho, waise toh bilkul bhi nahi". "Aur main kya soch raha hoon?", Vinod added with a smirk. "Accha toh suno do saal baad apni family se mil rahi hoon, isiliye khush hoon, aur shayad issi wajah se tumhare hisab se muskura rahi hoon."  "Right... do saal baad mili ho na, isiliye... hmm", he spoked while she continued her work. "Bohot yaad aaya hoga is sheher ka".  "Haan... bohot yaad aati thi Ahmedabad ki".  "Aur family se bhi dur rahi, unka woh pyaar aur apnapan se bhi door rahi toh ab yahan aake accha lag raha hoga right".   "Haan Vinod, bohot miss kiya sabko, especially Preeti." This was the time to trap her. "Matlab do saal se miss kar rahi thi na usse, ab toh Sameer ke paas aane ka chances hai, isiliye muskura rahi ho na."  "Haan, Sameer ko main...", she realised her folly and looked at Vinod with glaring eyes. "Yeh kya tha? Please mera dimag mat kha".  "Yaar tu accept kyu nahi kar leti, kahi na kahi tumhari yeh khushi ka wajah Mr.Maheshwari hai."  "Haan hai, merger smoothly ho raha hai na toh main khush hoon, you don't get any ideas".  "OK fine, tumhe joh sochna hai soch lo, main chala khana khane, mujhe toh bohot bhuk lagi hai".

Was she really smiling and humming? She never realised it until Vinod pointed it out. But why suddenly? She relayed back the past week in her mind.

***

23rd January 2000, Ahmedabad

He called her again. She didn't pick the call but had a feeling it was him. She left the phone to ring. Kitne baar try karega, tak jayega aur dubara call nahi karega. She continued with her chores, but the phone refused to stop ringing. Irritated by it's sound she picked the call to give him an earful so that he stops making attempts towards her. But her resolve failed once she kept the cordless over her ear.

Mujhe Neend Na Aaye, Mujhe Chain Na Aaye
Koi Jaaye Zara Dhoondke Laaye
Na Jaane Kahan Dil Kho Gaya
Na Jaane Kahan Dil Kho Gaya
Na Jaane Kahan Dil Kho Gaya
Na Jaane Kahan Dil Kho Gaya...

Memories of the past flooding back to her and unknowingly, she smiled. The similar musical love they shared through the telephone in the early days of her love, bloomed in her mind. She walked over to her room with the cordless in her hand. It was time for her response.

O Ramji, bada dukh di na
Tere Lakhan ne bada dukh di na
Sudh budh bisraayi meri neend churaayi
Mera mushkil kar diya jeena
Bada dukh di na

Placing the cordless back over her ear she waited for his response...

Jiye to jiye kaise haye bin aapke
Jiye to jiye kaise haye bin aapke
Lagta nahin dil kahin bin aapke
Jiye to jiye kaise haye bin aapke
Jiye to jiye kaise haye bin aapke

This had continued for a week, everyday he used to call but would not speak anything, just play some tunes and she would reply back with tunes.

***

Her eyes fell on her reflection on the glass table, she was indeed smiling. So this was what Vinod was talking about. Yet again her heart had fallen weak. Hadn't she promised herself not to let him affect her. How could you Naina? You are setting yourself up for the same pain and betrayal again. Why does he still have effect on you and why do you feel a strange sense of happiness in every moment spent with him? Stop yourself Naina, stop it before it gets too late. You have already lost a lot, don't end up losing whatever is left. She had to speak with Vinod and speed up this process of the merger. The more they meet, more feelings will crop within her. She has to uproot all those feelings.

Where Naina was planning on puting distance between then, Sameer on the other hand was lost in her sweet memory. This one week had given him some positive hope. She answered his calls daily and even participated in their musical times. Probably her heart was shifting more closer to him. He drifted to one particular memory from the past

*

17 August 1993

He had returned from college in anger. What did Naina think of him. He wasn't any mawali or awara who found chances to tease girls. What happened was an accident. She looked at him as if he had physically forced himself on her. He threw his shirt on the bed in anger and grabbed his boxing gloves from his shelf and started throwing some punches.

Sameer yeh kya tha? Chi tumhe sharam nahi aati.

'Chi', she had called their accidental kiss chi. That too his lips hadn't touched her lips, it fell over her cheek, yet she made a fuss. So what if he he kissed her cheek, they both loved each other for three years now. They hadn't even progressed from handhold and he hadn't forced her to do anything. Yet she saw him with those accusing eyes. Did she not trust him a bit. She made him feel disgusted in 'accidentally' kissing the love of his life. He had felt an enormous amount of anger raising within him that he just wanted to pull her and claim her lips and give her some real reason to get annoyed.

The phone bell rang and he knew it would be her. Probably calling to say the accidental kiss was a sin. He picked the call but instead if her voice he heard...

Tu rutha to main ro dungi sanam
Tu rutha to main ro dungi sanam
Aja meri baho mein aa
Aja meri baho mein aa aa
Tu rutha to main ro dungi sanam
Aja meri baho mein aa
Aja meri baho mein aa aa

His heart melted a little at her way of apologising. Wait a minute she was apologising, meaning she didn't have a problem with the kiss.

"Kya chahiye tumhe?"

"Maafi".

"Nahi milne wali".

"Main koshish karti rahoongi".

"Main nahi doonga".

"Maafi keliye main kuch bhi karne keliye taiyaar hoon".

"Accha? Kiss karogi mujhe".

There was a pause and then she replied, "Haan kar doongi".

"Naina yeh tum ky--", he melted completely

"Sameer, I am sorry. Woh uss waqt mujhe kuch samjh mein nahi aa raha tha. Mujhe waisa bartav nahi karna chahiye tha. Jaan bhujke todhi na kiya tha tumne, agar kiya bhi hota toh mujhe problem nahi honi chahiye. Tumhara toh haq hai na, mere kareeb aane ka. Sorry Sameer."

"Naina ro mat please. Dekho main naraz nahi hoon. Please tu ro mat. Haan haq hai par jaan main aisa kuch nahi karoonga joh tumhe comfortable na ho. Mujhe bhi samjhna chahiye tha, tumhare liye yeh bohot bada step hai na."

"Tumse bada kuch nahi hai Sameer. Tum jab chahe mere kareeb aa sakte ho, main tumhe nahi rokungi."

"Naina tumhari yeh baat he mere liye bohot hai. I promise main tab tak intezaar karoonga jab tak tum sau percent sure ho."

"I love you Sameer".

"I love you too Naina".

"Ab main rakti hoon. Raat ko dubara phone karoongi tab tak..."
She paused again

Mmmuahhhh

*

Sameer smiled thinking about her. His Naina and her innocence. He missed that, he missed her shy smiles when he looked at her. He missed the soft gazes that she would cast over him. He missed her subtle way of holding hands or touching when surrounded by people. He missed everything about her.  It was time to bring back all into his life again.

"Sameer woh cabin ka darwaza lagane log aa gaye", seeing his friend smiling after so many days, Munna asked "Kya hua, aaj bada muskura rahe ho."  "Bas aise he, tu bata, kuch kaam tha?"  Haan woh cabin ka darwaza lagwane log aa gaye. Par ek baat bata tu woh cabin kiss liye bana raha hai."  "Bohot jald he pata chal jayega tumhe Munna", Sameer got up his seat and skipped towards Munna and flashed his brightest smile before going out. Whatever was the reason it gave him immensely happiness to see smile back on his friends face, the genuine type of smile not the fake one he had for two years. Let god never take away the reason of his smile away from him, Munna thought.

Sameer not wasting a moment called her office to speak with Vinod. Yes Vinod, even though he wasn't fond of him but speaking to him regarding this would provide opportunity to execute his plan.

"Hi Vinod, this is Sameer here".  "Uh..Hi Sameer, kuch kaam tha?"   "Haan woh company ke future ke baare mein baat karni thi. Kya main abhi tumse milne aa sakta hoon? It is very important."   "Uhm... ya sure. Aa jao."   "Ok, I will reach within one hour along with Srikant."  Now it was time to execute his plan.

"Tu wahan kyu jaa raha ha Sameer? Sach batao kya chal raha hai?", Munna heard the conversation between him and Vinod. "Aur Srikant ke saath kyu jaa rahe ho?" Just that moment Srikant joined them with some papers in his hands. "Aur yeh kya papers hai?"  "Munna promise kar tu shanti se meri baat sunega. Munna woh joh cabin ban raha hai woh actually Naina keliye hai"  "Kya tum pagal toh nahi ho gaye." He snatched the papers from Srikant and was shocked to read that Sameer wanted them to merge offices too. Meaning Naina's company had to shift their base to Maheshwari textiles.  "Yeh sab kya hai Sameer. Isiliye tumne apne baju wale cabin ko join kar diya. Tum kab samjhoge Sameer. Itna kuch ho jaane ke baad bhi. Kyu karte ho aisa?"

"Munna suno na"  "Mujhe kuch nahi sunna Sameer."  "Dekho Munna, do saal baad pehli baar mere saath kuch accha ho raha hai. Meri Naina mujhe wapas mil rahi hai"  "Tujhe wapas? Bokla gaye ho kya, woh tujhse rishta jodne nahi aayi Ahmedabad. Sameer samjho yaar, Naina ab kabhi tumhari nahi hogi. Yeh sab tu joh kar raha hai na, usse tumhe sirf chot pohunchegi aur kuch nahi yaar", he tried to put some sense in his friend's head. "Munna aisi koi baat nahi, tumhe pata hai roz phone karte hai hum ek dusre ko".  "Kya matlab phone karte hai?  Kab se chal raha hai yeh sab?"  "Ek hafte se".  "Ek hafta! Kyu phone kar raha hai usse aur tumhe uska number kahan se mila?"  "Maine nahi, Naina ne pehle phone kiya tha, aur phir mujhe uska number mil gaya aur ab roz phone karte hai."  "Matlab woh jaal bicha rahi hai aur tu phasta ja raha hai, samjho Sameer, uska yahan aana, humare company ke saath milna, phir tumhare kareeb aane ki natak karna, sab ek chal hai", Munna hit his fist on his other hand.  "Munna kya bol raha hai tu, Naina aisi nahi hai."  "Accha bada pata hai uske baare mein."  "Haan pata hai mujhe meri Naina ke baare mein."  "Kaash itna bharosa woh bhi tumpe karti, toh aaj yeh naubat he nahi aata Sameer. Meri baat toh sunnoge nahi, tumhe joh karna hai karo."

Munna left but his words left a mark. It did prick him, as he was right. If Naina had trusted him probably they would have still been together.  But the situation was such that he couldn't blame her completely. Wish he had made that firm decision that day.

*

26 September 1997

"Kahan jaa raha hai tu Sameer."

"Munna woh mera phone uta nahi rahi. Toh usse milne jaa raha hoon chachaji ke ghar."

"Tum pagal ho gaye ho. Time pata hai. Raat ke do baj rahe hai. Joh bhi karna hai kal subah kar lena."

"Par Munna mujhe abhi milna hai yaar usse. Bohot bechaini ho rahi hai."

"Sameer pata hai, lekin iss waqt theek nahi hoga yaar. Woh ab gusse mein hai, subah jab gussa kam ho jayega tab usse mil lena. Aur waise bhi ab woh so rahi hogi, aaj joh bhi hua usse tak gayi hogi woh, usse todha aaram karne de aur tu bhi so jaa."

He was skeptical. He had to speak with her and explain the situation. He never felt this need for anything.  God knows why he felt a very strong need to meet her that very moment. But even Munna was right. She should be tired if the day's happenings and her anger would have reduced in the morning so it will be easier to explain things that time. He just hoped she would listen to him once.

He went back to his room and laid on the bed. Taking Naina's photo in his hands he kissed it and fell asleep hugging it.

Little did he know, that day was the last time he would see his Naina and then lose hope of seeing her or receiving her love.

*

Kash uss din tumse mil leta Naina, toh shayad aaj tum mere saath hoti, mujhse itni dur nahi, he thought wiping away the tears that rolled down from his eyes.

***

"Naina, Sameer ka phone aaya tha", Vinod informed her. "Kya? Ab woh office par bhi phone karne lag gaya", she was surprised to hear his calls to her office now. "Kya matlab office par bhi? Tum dono phone par baate karte ho kya?" "Nahi toh, hum baat nahi karte", she didn't lie, it was true that they don't speak, they used music to communicate. "Anyways woh Srikant ke saath yahan aa raha hai abhi ek ghante ke andar, bol raha tha kuch important discuss karna hai, company se related."

As the punctual man he was, or the punctual man she made him, Sameer arrived exactly 56 minutes since the phone call. He came along with Srikant and Munna. Srikant did most of the talking first. Explaining how the merger was important and how both the company's employees will get affected and how the communication between the company and employees need to be strong. He was clearly beating around the bush, so Naina finally asked the question "What are you trying to say? Yeh sab toh humme already pata hai."  "What I am, I mean we are trying to say is, jab hum ek hai toh itne dur dur kyu rahe", Sameer said eyeing her and she clearly understood the underlying meaning to his statement.  "Excuse me", Naina snorted at Sameer. "I meant to say, jab hummari company ek hai toh uska office bhi ek he hona chahiye na, so isiliye we thought that apko apna base humare offuce mein shift karna hoga."

"What? Mr. Maheshwari I hope aap soch samajh kar baat kar rahe hai."  "Bohot he soch samjh kar bol raha hoon. Ab dekhiye, aap naye naye aaye hai Ahmedabad, koi apko yahan utna nahi pehchanta, yes iss merger ki news spread ho rahi hai, but I feel it will be beneficial if you shift your office at our base. Waise bhi ek ya do hafta he hua hai apko yahan aaye so your team is quite small. Aur humare workers ko bhi opportunity milega to interact with your team. Isn't that right Vinod".  "Ahh... hmm matalb aap joh keh rahe hai that makes sense... par...", Vinod was stuck in between the ex-lover's quarrel.  "Par kya? You don't wish we expand our bases. Ek location par hone ke bohot saare faide hai, Srikant has the full information", he passed the file to Vinod and he read the points. "Aap agree nahi karte isse?"  "I think its good par...", he looked over at Naina and she said, "Mr. Maheshwari mujhe aapse kuch privately baat karni hai, please". The rest of the team excused themselves outside the room.

"Tum apne aapko samjhte kya ho Mr.Maheshwari."  "Cute, smart, intelligent,  handsome but whats your point?"  "Yeh kya tha. Main tumhare office mein shift nahi hone wali."  "Aacha? Par kyu?"  "Kyu matalb? Kyuki woh mera office nahi hai, yeh hai mera office."  "Yeh ek hafta ka office, kamal hai ek hafte mein itna attach ho gayi ki chodke jaane ka man nahi kar raha par saat saal ka rishta chodke chali gayi", he gave a sarcastic smirk. "You are crossing your line, stop being personal. Aur haan main tumhe aise he bewajah chodke nahi gayi. Tune kaam he aisa kiya ki mujhe tumse dur jaana pada".   "Main personal ho raha hoon? Tu khud shift nahi karna chahiti because of personal reasons.  Agar ek stranger ka company hota toh shift ho jaati na. Par nahi tum shift isiliye nahi kar rahi ho kyuki tum darti ho. Darti ho ki kahin mujhse dubara pyaar na ho jaye".  "Apne had mein raho, main darti varti nahi hoon. Aur tumse dubara pyaar main iss janam mein nahi karoongi".  "Naina joh baat do saal pehle hua, I can explain..."  "Stop it Mr. Maheshwari, aage kuch mat kaho, main uske baare mejn bhoolna chahti hoon so please usse yaad karke mere zakhmo ko taza mat karo". Her eyes were watery, she chocked on her words, maybe this is not the time to talk about that issue.

"Aur rahi baat shifting ki, haan mein personal reason se shift nahi karna chahti kyuki jab tumhe dekti hoon toh mujhe past yaad aa jaata hai aur dubara woh dard aur takleef joh maine saha woh yaad aa jaata hai".   "Agar itna he problem tha toh mera he company kyu chuna merger keliya? India mein koi aur company nahi mila kya tumhe."  She was dumbfounded by his tone. He wasn't aggresive with her she knew his words contained the same amount of agitation in them. "Bolo Naina, kyu aayi ho yaha aur mere company ke saath kyu merge karna chati ho? I am sure tumhe zyaada profitable ventures mile honge aur tumne un sab ko chodkar mujhe chuna. Kyu? Tab yeh dard aur takleef yaad nahi aaya tumhe. Aaj jab merger ho raha hai toh kya problem bai base shift karne mein? Isse profit he hoga, mere office ke workers bhi ab tumhare he hai na, unke saath kaam nahi karna chahti tum? Bolo? Agar professional banna hai toh professional banno. Yeh kaam ke beech personal baato ko mat lao. You know very well main personal aur professional baaton ko kabhi mix nahi karta. Aur haan ek aur faida hai, agar hum ek he office mein rehenge toh Munna aur Swati ka milna aur aasan ho jayega. Theek karna chahti ho na, agar isse aacha opportunity tumhare paas hai toh batao. Tunne suna na uss din Swati ne kya kaha woh Munna se milna nahi chahti agar ek he office rahega toh kam se kam mil payenge. Baaki tumhari marzi. Main sirf samjha sakta hoon. Tunhare shift hone se faida he hai. Both personally and professionally, phir bhi agar tumhe zid mein he rehna hai toh raho."

He called the rest of the team in. Naina wiped her tears, turned to face them and said, "Maine bohot socha aur yeh faisla liya hai ki", she looked at Sameer continuing, "hum apna base Maheshwari textiles ke office shift kar denge. Vinod tum Srikant ke saath bait kar formalities puri kar do."

She excused herself and left the room to go to her cabin. Munna follwed. Before Sameer could stop him, Munna entered the room. "Kyu kar rahi ho yeh?"  She turned and saw Munna in her room. "Maine kya kiya?"  "Kyu mann gayi shift karne keliye?"  "Maine wahi kiya joh company keliye theek hai"  "Jhoot! Tum Sameer ko takleef dena chahiti ho isiliye shift ho rahi ho".  "Accha shift hone ka idea mera tha? Nahi idea tumhara Sameer ka tha. Toh usse jaake poocho ki usne aisa kyu kiya".  "Pagal ho chuka hai woh. Aur tu iss mauke ka faida utana chahti hai", After a brief pause he continued, "Accha toh mujhe ab samjh mein aa raha hai tu kyu aayi yahan. Do saal pehle joh hua uska badla lena chahti hai tu, Maheshwari company ka nuksan karke, woh joh gussa tumhare andar hai na woh tum bahar nikal rahi ho. Yeh sab tumhari planning hai na?"

"Paagal ho gaye ho tum. Main aisa kyu karoongi. Agar yahi mera irada hota toh Maheshwari textiles ke saath merge kyu karoongi aur waise bhi shart lagana aur badla lena yeh sab toh Sameer ki fitrat hai meri nahi", her eyes were red with fury.  "Itna kadwa lagta hai Sameer toh aayi kyu yahan pe, zaroor tumhara koi na koi maksad hoga issilye yahan aayi ho aur humare saath merge kar rahi ho. Joh bhi wajah hai main dhoond nikalonga aur tumhari asliyat Sameer ke saamne kar doonga. Chod ke chali gayi na usse. Phir kyu aayi ho yaha? Sameer ko takleef pohunchane mein kya maza aata hai tumhe. Bechara woh jaise taise khud ko sambhalna seekh gaya. Tu aake sab kuch bigad di. Woh dubara umeed lagaye baita hai aur tu ek baar phir uska dil dukhake chali jayegi. Dekh lena Naina agar iss baar Sameer ko kuch kiya na ya agar tumhare wajah se Sameer ne apne aap ko kuch kar liya na toh mujhse bura koi nahi hoga. Chale jao yahan se Naina please. Sameer ki zindagi se chale jao". He stormed of the cabin and Naina held the corner of her table as tears escaped her eyes. Why? What had she done to deserve all this pain. Not once in these two years did she spend a single day without being in pain.

Sameer saw Munna coming out of Naina's cabin and asked him, "Kya kaha tunne Naina se. Pagal ho gaye ho? Kya kiya tunne? Naina ko woh sab batane ki kya zaroorat thi? Badla lena? Munna kya ho gaya tumhe, meri Naina aisi neech karkat kabhi nahi karegi." He went inside her cabin and saw her on crying. Oh god what had Munna told her. He went behind her and reached out to touch her shoulder.  Sensing his presence she turned back and saw his arm extended towards her. "Yeh kya kar rahe ho aur kyu aaye ho yaha? Munna kam tha joh tu bhi aa gaya. Bolo kya bolna hai?"   "Main Munna ke taraf se maafi mangta hoon Naina. Tum jaanti ho na woh kaisa hai, meri bohot fikar rehti hai usse isiliye kuch ulta seedha keh diya hoga."  "Bas karo Sameer. Pleaseee. Mujhe tumse koi baat nahi karni."  Fresh tears spilled out of her eyes. "Shh.. please ro mat. Please Naina..."

"Ab khush ho, tumhare decision ke wajah se mujhe sunna pad raha hai. Jabki maine kuch kiya bhi nahi. Isme meri kya galti? Galti tum karo aur saza main bhugatu kyuuu? Do saal pehle bhi yahi kiya na tumne. Aur aaj bhi.  Please mere samne mat raho, chale jao yahan se", she turned her eyes away from him. "Naina...", he began. "Maine kaha jao". He slowly walked towards the table and fished an handkerchief from his pocket and kept it and the table. Then silently walked away from then room.  Once he was gone Naina took the handkerchief in anger and was about to throw it in the bin but stopped. She slowly brought the kerchief close to her face and wiped her tears. Instead of throwing she kept it inside her bag.

***

Once Munna and Sameer reached their office, he took Munna inside to his room. "Kya zaroorat thi Naina se woh sab kehne ki. Decision mera tha toh usse blame kyu kar rahe ho?"  "Bhai tumhe uska game plan dikai nahi de raha. Woh tumse badla lene aayi hai for sure."  "Stop it Munna! Dubara Naina ke baare main kuch aur kaha toh...", he pointed his finger at him. "Toh?  Kyu Sameer uske wajah se mujhse kyu lad rahe ho? Dekh yaar main hamesha tumhara bhala he chahta hoon. Please meri baat maan aur dur reh Naina se. Tu jitna usse dur rahega utna khush rahega."   "Agar yeh sach hota toh socho pichle do saalo mein kitna khush rehta main. Munna Naina he meri khushi hai yaar. Uske bina kuch accha nahi lagta. Pata hai aaj naraz hai mujhse, par I am sure uski narazgi ek din khatam hogi uss din meri Naina mujhe wapas mil jayegi."

***

That night he walked around with the cordless, nervous if she will pick the call. Things were progressing for a week and they reached a dead end again. He pressed the call button and waited while the call rang. After the fourth ring she picked the call. "Please dubara phone mat kijiye Mr. Maheshwari."  "Naina please ab toh Sameer bulao aur main phone karoonga, tumhe baat nahi karni toh mat karo par main phone karta rahonga."  "Kyu karte ho aisa, mujhe nahi karni hai tumse baat"  "Toh phone kyu utai, tumhe pata hai na ki mera he phone hai, toh kyu utaya", he waited for her to respond. But when he got anothing he continued, "Nahi hai na koi jawab, kyuki main jaanta hoon. Hum dono ka haal ek jaisa hai Naina. Naina please meri baat suno."

"Main kitni baar kahu tumse, do saal pehle joh hus uske baare mein mujhe kuch nahi sunna. Joh bhi sunna tha woh main uss din sun li. Mujhe acche se yaad hai, uss din tumhare aakhon mein apni galti ka ehsaas bilkul bhi nahi tha. Tumhe pata hai na uske wajah se kya hua? Bolo kya tum sab kuch theek kar sakte ho? Agar meri jagah tum hote toh kya karte Sameer.? Bolo, kya tab bhi aise phone karte mujhe? Agar main wahi sab karti tumhare saath toh kya tum chup bait te?"  "Nahi Naina, main jaanta hoon joh hua woh bohot galat hua, main chahkar bhi kuch theek nahi kar sakta.  Par Naina ek mauka do main tumhe sab samjha doonga..."  "Bas ek sawal ka jawab de do, agar tumhare samjhane se maine joh bhi khoya, agar woh mujhe wapas mil jayege toh samjhao mujhe. Bolo lauta sakte ho mujhe woh sab?", she asked looking at the kerchief in her hands.  "Nahi Naina", his voice was almost inaudible.  "Toh dubara mujhse baat karne ki koshish mat karna. Warna sach bol rahi hoon yeh contract ko yahin khatam karke wapas chali jaungi. Bohot himmat jutakar yahan aayi hoon. Aur mushkil mat banao."

The line got cut and he tossed the phone angrily on the bed. How will he make things right when she doesn't even want to listen. The emotional side of him was upset that she couldn't give him one chance to explain. But the rational side of him said, maybe he needs to give her time. It has just been few days since she came back to Ahmedabad so all the wounds of the past would have yet again become fresh. Right now he needs to give her time. The right time will come when she will be in a position to hear him out. He has waited two years for her, what will happen if he waits for few more days. Just few more days Sameer, give her time. Let her settle herself and then she will be all yours again.

**********************

How was the update... I hope you like it that Sameer and Naina will be in the same office now, that too with joined rooms... They will face each other often, who knows maybe even romance a little *wink*

Waiting for your views/comments...

Ps. Sorry their confession was in the past and not in the present, they will say I love you in the present too but that will take a lil long time
