Chapter 25

Sam & Cat & the Haunted Thundermans: The Dark Twister

Chapter Twenty-Five: Explain This To Us...

Billy Thunderman POV

We all gave Mom a strange look. What did she mean when she said, "She doesn't, but I do,"!?!? Does she have some kind of physic powers that she didn't tell us about!?!?

"Wh-what d-do y-you m-mean?" Carly stammered.

Mom sighed. "Phoebe, Max, Nora, Billy, I should of told you guys this a long time ago. Your father already knows, but you don't. The only reason I didn't tell you guys about it is because... Well, I didn't know what you guys would think of me when you found out. But, now that she's here... I-I have to."

All of our eyes widened.

"Does Dr. Colosso know?" I asked.

Mom sighed. "Yes, Dr. Colosso knows."

Max gasped. "Mom told you a secret and you didn't tell me about it, Dr. Colosso!?!?"

"I was going to, but you were really young when I found about it, so I decided not to tell you," Dr. Colosso told Max, "Eventually, I had forgotten about your Mom's dirty little secret. I didn't remember about it, until I saw Carly use her powers."

"So, spill!" Nora demanded, "What's the secret!?!?"

Mom sighed. "About seven years before Max and Phoebe were born, I fell in love with a non-supe. He already had a son that was eleven years old at the time. His wife had passed away when his son was just a baby.

"Wait, what's a non-supe?" Nevel interrupted.

"It's what we call a person without super powers," Phoebe told Nevel.

"Oh."

"So, I asked him out. He said yes. About a year later, we decided to get married. About a year after we got married, we had a daughter," Mom continued.

"Did this guy know that you had super powers?" Frankie asked.

"No. I mean, not yet,"Mom answered..

"What do you mean not yet?"

"Well, about a year after we had the baby, while my husband's son was in school, something bad happened. My former arch nemesis, Destructinator, came smashing through one of our windows in our old apartment. My husband was terrified. 'Surrender now, Electriss, or you and your husband shall both die!' Destructinator yelled as he stood on the ledge of the broken window."

"Electriss?" Sam repeated.

"That's her super heroine name," Dad told Sam.

"Oh. Go on."

"So anyways, instead of surrendering, I just shot a purple lightning bolt at him from my hand. I shocked him for a good minute, before finally stopping. Destructinator went unconscious from the shock and fell through the window and landed on top of one of the nearby buildings. Let's just say that that was the last of the Destructinator... My husband gave me a shocked look. 'What was that!?!?' He asked me. I confessed everything to him; how I was a super heroine and how I had super powers. 'Barb, if this is the kind of destruction that your powers are going to bring into this household, then I am divorcing you,' he told me. Tears started to fill my eyes. 'I'm sorry! I didn't know that this was going to happen! Please don't do this to me, honey! We could have a happy life together with your son and our daughter!' I begged. 'Not if my kids get harmed by a super villain! I'm sorry, Barb. I really do love you, it's just that I don't want to take any chances with my children getting hurt. Please forgive me and understand that I am only doing this for my children, not to hurt you,' he told me. I was now shedding tears. 'I understand,' I told him. I then walked into my daughters room and picked her up from her crib and cradled her into my arms. I then gave her a soft kiss on her forehead. 'Goodbye, Carly,' I told her, 'Mommy will always love you no matter what.' I then put her back in her crib and left," Mom finished.

We all gasped.

"So, your Carly's mother!?!?" Taylor asked in shock.

Mom nodded.

"So, that's why we never heard anything about Carly's mother!" Nevel exclaimed.

"Wait, Colonel never told you guys anything about me?" Mom asked.

Sam, Freddie, and Carly all shook their heads.

"I always knew that Carly had a mother, but I just didn't know anything about her or who she was," Freddie told Mom.

"Yeah, me neither," Carly and Sam both agreed.

"Carly, your father never told you anything about me?" Mom asked.

Carly shook her head. "Whenever I would ask Dad, 'How come I don't have a mom, like the rest of my friends?', he would either change the subject or say, 'Carly, sweetie, your mother passed away when you were a baby,'. Spencer would do and say the same exact things."

"So, basically your father and your half-brother lied right to your face?"

"I guess so."

"Did Spencer ever tell you that you had a different mother than him, Carly?" Freddie asked.

"No, he didn't," Carly replied.

"Colonel must of made up a story about why I left and told him to never tell you that you were really his half-sister, not sister," Mom stated.

"Probably," we all agreed.

"So, you're basically telling us that Carly is our half-sister and you, Dad, Dr. Colosso, and Carly's dad were the only ones who knew about it!?!?" Phoebe asked.

"And that Thunder Man is my stepfather and I have two separate families!?!?" Carly added.

"Well, Carly's dad doesn't know that I got married and had more kids after we got divorced, but yes," Mom stated.

"Welcome to the double life, Carly Shay," Nora said in a mischievous way, "We've been expecting you."

Goomer gasped. "So, you guys have two families too!?!?"

"Well, if you count each side of our family, then yes, but that's now what I meant."

"Then, what did you mean?"

"I mean that it kind of feels like that we have to live two separate lives. At school, Phoebe, Max, Billy, and I are just regular students, but back at home, we're super heroes!"

"So, none of your friends back at school know that you guys have super powers?" Cat asked.

"No," Mom, Dad, Phoebe, Nora, Max, and I answered.

"Aww, that makes me feel special."

"Why does that make you feel special?" Max asked Cat.

"Well, because we found out that you have super powers before any of your friends back at home did!"

"Yeah, about that... You see, nobody is really supposed to know that we have super powers," Dad told Cat, "We just happened to accidentally expose them to you guys."

Taylor raised one eyebrow. "Accidentally?"

"Yes, accidentally!"

"You guys were fighting a bunch of criminals with them."

"Yeah, we sorta forgot that we weren't supposed to use them in front of you guys..."

"Oh, wow."

"So anyways, Cat, I have a question," Max stated.

"Sure, what is it?" Cat asked.

"Wait, how come you didn't say anything rude back to me?"

"Because I'm not mad at you anymore."

"You're not?"

"Of course not!"

"How come?"

"Is it because you saw how Max actually did something good for once and you have decided that he actually has some good in him, so you're not going to trick him into being a nice person anymore?" Phoebe asked.

Cat gasped. "Who told you about my plan? I mean, I was never going to work Max up with a bunch of insults and get into a huge fight with him, then start betting him on small things, then bet him that he can't be nice for the rest of our vacation, so that he'll get used to being nice to people!"

"I TOLD YOU SO, MAX, I TOLD YOU SO!!!" Phoebe shouted as she began to jump up and down and point at Max, "I TOLD YOU, I TOLD YOU, I TOLD YOU!!!"

Max groaned. "Phoebe, can you please stop this? You're starting to act like a five year old!"

"Sorry, Max, but I told you so!"

"Well, I am surprised that you were correct, but it's not like I ever said that you were wrong!"

"So, that's why you were being so mean to Max after he was rude to you on the bus that one day, Cat!" Sam exclaimed, "You were trying to make him nicer!"

Cat gasped. "WHO TOLD YOU THAT!?!?"

Dice laughed. "You did, Cat!"

"I did!?!?"

"Yeah!"

"When!?!?"

"About a couple of seconds ago!"

"Oh yeah, I did. Oopsie!"

"So, why did you want to try and make Max nicer?" I asked Cat.

"Well, imagine if you were rescued by someone who turned out to be rude. Would you want to try and make them nicer?"

"Yeah. I would want to try and rebuild the niceness that they had when they rescued me!"

"Exactly!"

"Look, Cat, even if you had tried your plan on me, I would still be the person that I am today," Max stated, "Am I the nicest person in the world? No. Do I want to become a super villain? I usually don't tell anyone this, but yes. But, am I the evilest person in the world? No! I wouldn't let anybody harm you guys! I can't believe that I'm saying this, but you guys are my friends!"

Cat grinned. "I knew that there was always a bit of nice in you, Max!"

"Yeah, me too!" Phoebe agreed.

"Now, don't say that! I am still a super villain!" Max exclaimed.

Phoebe rolled her eyes. "Yeah, sure you are," I heard her sarcastically mutter under her breath.

"What was that?" Max asked.

"NOTHING!!!"

"So anyways, I have a question," I stated, changing the subject, "Carly, if you had super powers for all of these years, how come they never went off?"

"What do you mean?" Carly asked.

"How come your super powers never went off during the Achilles comet?" Nora asked.

"What does the Achilles comet have to do with Carly's super powers?" Nona asked.

"It messes up with Earth's atmosphere, causing our powers to go wonky and out of control," Dad told Nona.

"Oh."

"I-I don't know why my powers weren't affected by this comet," Carly told us.

"Well, maybe you were really relaxed on that day," Mom guessed, "Do you remember what you were doing on... Hank, what day did the Achilles comet pass through Earth's atmosphere last?"

"I don't know," Dad replied, "I think that it was in February."

"I remember it exactly," Nevel told us, "It was on Saturday, February 8th."

We all gave Nevel a shocked look.

"What!?!? I have a lot of free time on my hands!"

"Wait, why would she of been relaxed when the comet passed through?" Ms. Hathaway asked.

"Because if we stay calm, while the comet is passing through, our powers won't go off," Mom told Ms. Hathaway.

"Oh."

"I don't remember what I was doing on that day, but I was probably either sleeping or playing on one of my devices," Carly told us.

"Yeah, that's probably why your powers didn't go off because you were just relaxing," Mom told Carly.

"Yeah."

"What about the time that it the comet passed through Earth's atmosphere when Max and Phoebe were babies, Barb?" Dad asked, "Carly was alive for that one!"

"Oh yeah," Mom replied, "She had to be around five years old when that happened."

"Well, maybe you were just taking a nap," Miles guessed as he shrugged.

"Yeah, if my powers didn't go off I had to be taking a nap!" Carly agreed.

"Or maybe you were doing another relaxing activity," Nona guessed as she shrugged.

"Maybe, but since I was five when it happened, I was probably taking a nap," Carly stated.

"Yeah," we all agreed.

"Wait a minute, hasn't Carly gotten her thundersense already?" Nora asked.

"Yeah, she probably has," Mom, Dad, Max, Phoebe, and I agreed.

"Carly, tell me, have you've ever been able to sense danger right before it happens?" Phoebe asked.

Carly began to think for a moment. "Now that you mention it, yes I have. Sam, Freddie, I never told anyone about this before, but right before something bad would happen to us, I would get this feeling that it was going to happen."

"Dude, why didn't you tell us!?!?" Sam asked, "Do you know how many problems we could of avoided if you told us when they were going to happen!"

"I just didn't want you guys to start freaking out because you thought that I was a psychic freak!"

"Gee, thanks!" Max mumbled.

"I didn't mean it that way!" Carly told Max, "You guys are awesome! You helped save my life!"

"Carly, we would of never thought that you were weird!" Freddie exclaimed.

Carly raised one eyebrow.

"Ok, maybe at first," Sam admitted.

"SAM!!!" Freddie shouted.

"What!?!? It's the truth! We would of all freaked out at first, then took it to our advantage! I didn't mean to offend Carly when I said that!" Sam told Freddie.

"It's ok, Sam," Carly stated, "I'm not offended."

"Carly, that feeling that you had right before those things happened to you, were they tingly feelings?" Mom asked.

Carly gasped. "How did you know that!?!?"

"Because I have thundersense!"

Carly gasped again. "You do!?!?"

Mom nodded. "All super heroes get their thundersense, once they become of age!"

"Sadly, Billy and I don't have ours yet," Nora told Carly.

"Oh, what age do you get it at?" Carly asked.

"It all depends," Dad told Carly, "I got mine when I was twelve, Barb got hers when she was seventeen, and Phoebe and Max got theirs a few months ago when they were still fourteen. So, I'd say anywhere from twelve to your late teens."

"Oh."

"I have a question," Taylor stated, "If Carly's mother has super powers and her father doesn't, then how come she didn't turn out like a half-super heroine with only half of her mother's powers?"

Mom sighed. "It doesn't work out that way, Taylor. Each supe has their own special powers. It is very rare for a child to have the same exact powers as their parents. They may have the same super power as someone else or their twin, if they have one, but not their parents. Also, supes are much more dominant compared to non-supes. Meaning, that if a supe and a non-supe were to have a baby, the baby would automatically be a supe and have it's own special super powers, not half the powers of what their supe parent has."

"Oh."

"Mrs. Thunderman, do you even know what powers Carly has!?!?" Louie asked.

Mom lowered her head. "No, Louie. Sadly, I don't."

"Well, I do know that I have heat breath, heat vision, super strength, telekinesis, super speed, and thundersense."

"Well, let's see if you have any other powers!" Mr. Preston exclaimed.

"That's a great idea! Carly, go see if you can freeze that palm tree over there!" Frankie ordered as she pointed towards a palm tree.

"H-how?" Carly stammered.

"With freeze breath!"

"Ok."

Carly then walked over to the palm tree that Frankie was pointing towards. She closed her eyes and began to blow on it. Instead of regular carbon dioxide, puffs of blue air came out of her mouth. The puffs of blue air froze the palm tree like an ice cube. We all gasped. Once Carly heard us gasp, she immediately opened up here eyes to see that she had froze the palm tree. She gasped too, then unfroze the palm tree with her heat breath.

"O-oh m-my g-god," Carly stammered, "I think that there's something wrong with me!"

"Carly, there's nothing wrong with you!" Mom stated.

"Is it normal for a super hero to have these many powers?"

"Yes. There are some super heroes that I know that have as many or more powers than you, but not many. Carly, there's nothing wrong with having a lot is super powers; it's a gift from God."

"Y-you s-sure?"

Mom, Dad, Phoebe, Max, Nora, and I all nodded.

"So, which super power should I try out next?" Carly asked.

Mom, Dad, Phoebe, Max, Nora, and I all looked at each other. "Flight," we all said at once.

"Ok."

Carly backed up a few feet. She looked down at her feet for a second. She then jumped up into the air. Instead of coming back down, Carly just kept on going up higher and higher. We all gasped in amazement. We all heard Carly squeal of joy all the way up in the sky. After a few minutes of flying, Carly came back down.

"OH MY GOD, THAT WAS AWESOME!!!" Carly exclaimed joyfully.

"I KNOW, RIGHT!?!?" Mr. Thunderman agreed.

"Carly, see if you can shoot lightning out of your hands at that tree," Mom ordered as she pointed towards the same palm tree that Carly had froze.

"Ok."

Carly then turned towards the palm tree and aimed her right hand at it. She then closed her eyes and began to concentrate really heard. Soon enough, a purple lightning bolt shot out of Carly's hand and hit the palm tree. Carly immediately opened up her eyes and gasped. We all gasped too. The palm tree was in ashes by the time that Carly had stopped electrocuting it.

"Now, see if you can create a mini spotlight out of the palm of your hand," Mom ordered.

Carly then raised her left hand. Once again, she closed her eyes and began to concentrate. Soon enough, a mini spotlight shot out of Carly's hand. We all gasped in amazement. Carly immediately opened up her eyes to see that she had done what she wanted to do.

"Now, see if you can shoot purple sparks out of your hands," Mom ordered.

Carly cocked her head at Mom. "Purple sparks?"

"Yeah, they kind of look like fireworks."

"Alright."

Carly then stuck up all ten of her fingers. Carly closed her eyes and began to concentrate once more. Little, purple sparks immediately shot out of Carly's fingers. We all gasped once more. Carly opened up her eyes to see purple sparks flying out of her fingers.

"OH MY GOSH, MY DAUGHTER IS THE CHOSEN ONE!!!"

"The chosen one?" Sam, Cat, Freddie, Carly, Nevel, Nona, Dice, Phoebe, Max, Nora, Ms. Hathaway, Taylor, Frankie Mr. Preston, Miles, Louie, and I asked.

"How do you know that she's the chosen one, Barb!?!?" Dad asked.

"She fits the description perfectly, Hank! She has more than ten super powers!" Mom told Dad.

"But, the chosen one has to use their powers only for good."

"Well, I don't think that she would use it for bad, Hank!"

Dad turned towards Carly. "Would you?"

Carly shook her head. "Of course not! I'm not evil!"

"Then maybe you are the chosen one!"

"Why? What does the chosen one need to have?"

"I remember it exacltly. You need to have ten or more super powers, you have to be the kind of person who would only use their powers for good, you have to be strong, smart, and fast," Dr. Colosso told Carly, "Your mother's right; you do fit the description perfectly."

"Yeah," Dad agreed, "Thousands of years ago, one of our ancestors had a vision about the chosen one and what they would be like. They weren't too sure who it was or when they were coming; they only knew the description. That vision has been passed down for generations."

"Wh-what's the chosen one's responsibilities?" Carly asked.

"Saving the world from people like The Dark Hurricane and The Dark Twister."

"D-do I have to do it?"

"Yes. It is your purpose in life," Mom told Carly, "It is why God gave you so many super powers."

"W-will y-you g-guys h-help m-me?" Carly stammered.

"Of course we will!" Phoebe told Carly, "We're... family."

"Yeah!" Mom, Dad, Nora, Max, and I agreed.

"And Freddie and I will help you too," Sam told Carly.

"Y-you will?" Carly stammered.

Freddie and Sam looked at each other and nodded.

"And so will we," Mr. Preston told Carly.

"Really!?!?" Carly asked, "All of you!?!?"

Nona, Cat, Dice, Goomer, Frankie, Taylor, Louie, Miles, Mr. Preson, and Mrs. Thunderman all nodded.

"Well, not me," Nevel stated.

"Me neither," Dr. Colosso agreed, "I'm just a rabbit."

"That's ok," Carly stated, "I didn't expect you two to help me anyway... But anyways, you guys don't know how much that I appreciate that you're helping me with me being the chosen one thing! I'm new to this super heroine thing and I could really use all of the support that I can get!"

Carly then stretched out her hands for a group hug. She hugged us all so tight that I could barely breathe.

"Can we go back to the hotel now?" I asked, once the group hug was over.

Everybody nodded.

Just as we were about to walk back towards the boats, Frankie said, "Wait, there's one question that I forgot to ask!"

"What is it, Frankie?" Ms. Hathaway asked.

"Ray, what did you mean when you said, 'you can take away our lives and make us ghosts'?"

Mr. Preston, Miles, and Louie all sighed.

"You know what he meant, Frankie," Louie sighed.

"Y-you mean The Dark Twister and The Dark Hurricane killed you guys, thus turning you into ghosts?"

"Well, not exactly."

"What do you mean by that? What happened?"

Mr. Preston sighed once more. "Frankie, a long time ago, back in the 50's when we were still human and not ghosts, there was a huge flood; a flash flood."

"And the flash flood killed you guys?" Taylor asked.

Louie, Miles, and Mr. Preston nodded.

"Yes, Taylor. The Dark Hurricane's flash flood killed us. It broke down our front doors and flooded our whole entire house within seconds."

"I'm so sorry that that had to happen to you guys."

"It's ok, Taylor' I would of been a ghost by now anyways. But, my boys... They still would of been human..."

"Oh, I'm so sorry, Miles and Louie," Ms. Hathaway apologized, starting to feel bad for Miles and Louie.

"It's ok, Michelle!" Louie told Ms. Hathaway, "I love being a ghost!"

"Yeah, me too!" Miles agreed, "Although, I kind of miss being human."

"Wait, how did you guys know that it was The Dark Hurricane and The Dark Twister?" Dice asked.

"Well, at the very moment that the flash flood flooded our house, we got killed and turned into ghosts. We were all very upset that we got killed, especially Louie because he was so young. So, we had decided to see where the flood had came from. As soon as we had stepped outside, we had noticed that it was a hurricane that had caused the flash flood. We had also saw that there was a tornado forming just a couple of miles away from our now destroyed house. We decided to follow the tornado. When we had caught up with the tornado, we had realized the it was forming right behind of the New Orleans Prison. We then noticed that the prison was completely wrecked and that there were two teenagers standing on top of the remains of it. One was a girl and one was a boy. 'Are you ready, The Dark Hurricane?' The boy asked the girl. 'Oh, I'm ready, The Dark Twister,' The girl replied. The tornado started to move closer and closer to the two teenagers. It almost seemed as if the boy was controlling the tornado. He kept on motioning for it to come towards them. Whenever he would do that, the tornado would begin to spin and move faster. Just as the tornado was a foot away from them, the boy told the girl, 'Hurricane, you can stop flooding New Orleans now. I think that we've done enough damage.' The girl then closed her eyes and swirled her hands up in the air. Shortly after that, it stopped raining and the skies began to clear up. The two teenagers then hopped into the tornado. The tornado then began to head in the opposite direction. Within minutes, the tornado was too far away for us to see it anymore," Ray told us.

"So, you guys didn't know them because they were in an old newspaper!" Taylor exclaimed, "You saw them for yourselves!"

Mr. Preston, Miles, and Louie all nodded.

"I'm so sorry that you guys had to get killed like that," Frankie apologized, starting to feel bad for the Preston's, "You guys are so nice! You guys deserve to have died of age!"

"It's ok, Frankie. That was a long time ago and it doesn't bother us anymore," Miles stated.

"And besides, we finally got our revenge on them after all of these years!" Louie added.

"Yeah," Mr. Preston and Miles agreed.

"Wait, does that mean that The Dark Twister and The Dark Hurricane are now 'pranksters' too?" Goomer asked.

"What do you mean by that?" Nevel asked.

"It's the nickname that we came up for ghost," Taylor told Nevel.

"Oh."

"Yeah, but I wouldn't worry about them. It takes a while to gain your ghost powers and to figure out how to use them! They're not going to harm us for awhile!" Mr. Preston assured us.

"Oh, good," Goomer sighed out of relief.

"Alright, now can we go back to the the hotel?" I asked.

Everybody nodded once more.

"Wait, how are we going to get back to the hotel?" Phoebe asked as we began to walk back towards the boats.

"On boats," Cat told Phoebe.

"How did you guys get the boats?"

"We stole them."

"And you're ok with that?"

"No, but it was our only option."

"How many boats did you guys steal?"

Cat began to think for a moment. "Four."

"YOU GUYS STOLE FOUR BOATS!?!? HOW DID YOU GUYS PULL THAT OFF!?!?"

Sam shrugged. "We're a large group. And besides, it was around 2:00 in the morning when we stole them."

"You guys stole one of boats from those two guys that took you and Cat parasailing, didn't you?" Max asked.

"Yup!" Sam and Cat both answered at once.

Max smirked. "I would of done the same exact thing."

Phoebe rolled her eyes at Max. "Of course you would of done that, Max!"

"Admit it Phoebe, if you weren't one of the people who got kidnapped by Twister and Hurricane, you would of done it too!"

"Yeah, I guess that I would have done it too."

"I think that we would of all done it, Phoebe," Nona said, "They almost killed Sam and Cat with their disaster of a parasail."

Mom, Dad, Phoebe, Nora, Goomer, Sam, Cat, Dice, Mr. Preston, Ms. Hathaway, Taylor, Miles, Frankie, and I nodded as we all continued to walk towards the boats.
