Chapter 20

Sam & Cat & the Haunted Thundermans: The Dark Twister

Chapter Twenty: Coconut Hunting
Nevel Papperman POV

"Ok, I'm full!" Carly announced, as she walked back over to Phoebe and Max.

I quickly shoved a handful of blueberries in my mouth. I was stuffed! I must of eaten about a hundred of those things! I think that Carly did too. We were starving! How long have we been out for? It could of been days for all I know! We have a reason to have been so hungry.

"Yeah me too," I agreed, as I followed Carly.

"Ok. Are you guys ready to go searching for coconuts?" Phoebe asked us.

Carly and I both nodded our heads in agreement.

"Alright, let's go then," Phoebe ordered, as she headed into the forest of blueberry bushes and palm trees.

Max, Carly, and I followed her.

After a few minutes of searching for any fallen coconuts, Carly suggested, "Maybe we should break up into two groups, so that we can find a coconut quicker."

Phoebe, Max, and I thought for a moment.

"Sounds like a good idea," Max stated, "So, who's going with who?"

"How about you and me can go together and Carly and Nevel can go together?" Phoebe suggested.

"NO!!!" Max, Carly, and I shouted at once.

"I'm not going to search for coconuts with him!" Carly argued, as she pointed towards me.

"And I'm not going to search for coconuts with her!" I added, as I pointed towards Carly.

"And I'm not going to search for coconuts with you!" Max added, as he pointed towards Phoebe.

"Alrighty then. Why don't I go with Carly and, Max, you and Nevel can go together?" Phoebe suggested.

Carly, Max, and I just shrugged.

"Ok," we agreed.

We then all switched spots, so that we were each standing next to our coconut-finding partner.

"Which way should we go?" Carly asked.

"How about we go left and you guys go right?" I suggested.

Carly, Phoebe, and Max just shrugged. "Well, alright," they agreed.

"Ok, so if any of us find a coconut, just yell, 'coconut!', got it?" Phoebe told us.

We all nodded in agreement. With that being said, Max and I made a left, while Carly and Phoebe made a right.

Max and I have been searching for coconuts together for about an hour and so far, none of us have said a word to each other. We were to focused on searching for coconuts to talk. Also, we had just met, so we still felt a bit uncomfortable around each other. We were both on the alert for anybody shouting, "Coconut!" the whole entire time. I could tell that it was starting to get late; the sun was starting to set in the sky. After a while of being tired of the awkward silence, I had finally decided to say something.

"So, Max, what are you into?" I asked, not knowing what else to say.

Max thought for a moment. "Well, I guess that you can say that I'm kind of the 'bad boy' of the family. I'm always pranking people, especially Phoebe."

"Really? I'm kind of like that too. I wouldn't say that I'm a bad boy though; I'd say that I'm an evil genius."

Max's eyes widened. "Yeah, I'd say that about myself too! I just usually don't tell people that, but this is the first time that anybody has ever told me that they're an evil genius!"

My eyes widened too. "Wait. So, you're saying that you're an evil genius too?"

Max nodded.

"Interesting. So, what else do you do, besides pranking people?"

Max thought for a moment. "I like to build all of these cool gadgets and inventions!"

"Really? What do you like to build?"

"I like to build a lot of things, but my favorite thing to build is a rocket!"

"That's interesting."

"So, what do you like to do, as an evil genius? Do you like to build things, like me?"

"No. I'm more of the guy who likes to hack things, such as computers and websites. I guess that you can say that we both like technology; you like to invent things and I like to hack computers."

"You know what, Nevel? I have a feeling that we could both teach each other some very helpful things!"

"Yeah, we could!"

All of the sudden, Max stopped in his tracks.

"What's wrong, Max?" I asked, "Do you see a coconut?"

"I think that I do, but I'm not too sure if it's a coconut," he replied.

"Where is it?"

"Come on, I'll show you it!" Max told me, as he started to run towards the thing that he thought was a coconut.

I immediately followed Max.

"Yeah, that's a coconut alright," I told Max as, soon as we had reached the fuzzy, light-brown, spherical object that was laying in a huge blueberry bush.

"COCONUT!!!" Max yelled, as he cupped his hands around his mouth.

"YOU GUYS FOUND ONE!?!?" We heard Carly shout back.

"YEAH!!!"

"OK, HOLD ON GUYS, WE'RE COMING!!!"

"OK!!!" Max and I both shouted back.

A couple of seconds later, we heard footsteps coming towards us from the behind. Max and I both turned around to see blueberry bushes rustling in the distance. As we began to see blueberry bushes that were closer to us rustle, Carly and Phoebe's figures slowly became visible to our eyes. By the time that Carly and Phoebe had reached us, they were both out of breath. They were both slightly bent over and panting like dogs.

"So, what place did you guys get in the marathon?" Max asked Phoebe and Carly sarcastically.

"Very funny, Max," Phoebe stated, seeming a bit annoyed by her brother's sarcasm, "Now, where's the coconut!?!?"

"Right there," Max told Phoebe, as he turned around and pointed towards the coconut that was laying in a huge blueberry bush.

"Well, what are we waiting for!?!? Let's crack open that coconut!" Carly exclaimed, "I'm thirsty from all of that running!"

"Yeah, me too," Phoebe agreed.

"And we're thirsty from all of those long hours that it took us to find the dang coconut!" Max added.

"Yeah!" I agreed.

"Alright, let's not start an argument here!" Carly told us.

"Yeah, I really don't care about why you guys are thirsty! I just want to open that coconut before we start World War III!" Phoebe told us.

"Yeah, me too," we all agreed.

With that being said, Max picked up the coconut and started to bang it against the trunk of a palm tree.

"Max, don't bang it that hard!" Phoebe exclaimed, "You might accidentally spill all of the milk out, if you do that!"

Max stopped what he was doing and thought for a moment. "You know what? You're right, Phoebe. All of you, gather around the coconut and put your hands underneath of it."

Carly, Phoebe, and I all looked at each other, then shrugged. We then gathered around the coconut, as we were told. With his fingernail, Max scratched a line into the trunk of the palm tree. He then put the coconut on top of the mark. Phoebe, Carly, and I immediately put our hands underneath the coconut, as we were told.

"Alright, now cup your hands together," Max ordered.

We immediately followed Max's orders. Obviously, Carly and Phoebe saw where Max was going with this, like I did. Max was making us cup our hands underneath the coconut, so that we can catch any milk that leaks out when he cracks it open. "Ok, ready?" Max asked as. We all nodded. Max then resumed with banging the coconut against the trunk of the palm tree. Before I knew it, I felt something trickle into my hands. I looked up at the coconut. There was a small crack on the side of it. The Milk was trickling into Phoebe and Carly's hands as well.

"MAX, TURN OVER THE COCONUT, SO THAT IT DOESN'T LEAK ANYMORE!!!" Phoebe ordered.

Max immediately followed Phoebe's orders and turned the coconut, so that the small crack was facing up towards the sky. Phoebe, Carly, and I hurriedly gulped down the coconut milk that had leaked into our hands. Max put his mouth on the small opening on the coconut and began to gulp down its milk.

"Hey, save some for us!" Carly complained.

"But, you guys already had some!" Max argued, as he pointed towards our milk-covered hands, "Now, its my turn!"

"Don't drink all of that, Max!" Phoebe ordered.

"Too late."

"YOU DRANK ALL OF IT!?!?"

Max laughed. "Phoebe, there wasn't even much left in there for me to drink! If you guys are still thirsty, we can go searching for more coconuts or we can squeeze the juice out of those blueberries! It's your choice!"

"I'd rather just squeeze some juice out of blueberries," Carly stated, "I'm too tired to go looking for more coconuts."

"Yeah, me too, " Phoebe and I agreed.

"So, blueberry juice it is then!" Max announced, as we headed over to the huge blueberry bush that we had found the coconut in.

We then began to pick a handful of blueberries at a time, hold them over our mouths, and squeeze the juice into them.

"Alright, I'm done," Carly announced, "I'm not thirsty anymore."

"Yeah, me too," Phoebe, Max and I agreed.

"What shall we do do now that we are done drinking blueberry juice?" I asked.

"I don't know. Build a fire?" Phoebe suggested.

"That sounds like a plan. Where should we build it?"

"Somewhere that's in between of the ocean and the forest, so that the waves don't put out our fire and so that the fire doesn't catch on to anything else and start a forest fire."

"Yeah, that would probably be the best thing to do."

"So, are you guys in?" Phoebe asked, as she turned towards Carly and Max.

"Yeah," they replied.

"Alright. Pick up anything that would probably be good firewood on our way out of the forest. Also, try to pick up any rocks, if you find any, ok?"

We all nodded in agreement. With that being said, we started to head out of the forest and towards the ocean.

As soon as we had found the perfect spot to start a fire, we plopped down all of the wood and rocks that we managed to find. Just as we were about to put the rocks in a circle, we heard some bushes rustle from behind us. We all turned around to see what it was. There was nothing there, but blueberry bushes and palm trees.

"OH, COME ON!!!" Carly shouted, "ANOTHER PERSON WAS TAKEN AWAY BY A TORNADO!?!? MOTHER NATURE IS STARTING TO TAKE THIS A BIT TOO FAR!!!"

"But, Carly, nobody's there!" I argued, "It was probably just the wind."

"Yeah, you're probably right. I'm just saying if it was another person, these tornadoes are starting to get a bit out of control!"

"Yeah, they are," Max, Phoebe, and I agreed, as we all turned back around and resumed to starting our fire.

Then all of the sudden, I thought that I saw something out of the corner of my eye. It was to fast for me to tell what it was. I then looked up to see a light-brown burlap sack over my head. Before I knew it, the burlap sack was covering my whole entire body. I then felt somebody lift the sack up and swing it over their back. I was being kidnapped. I was staring to get dizzy from hanging upside-down and banging into the person's back.

"YOU'LL RUE THIS DAY, WHOEVER YOU ARE!!!" I shouted, "YOU'LL RUE IT!!!"

All of the sudden, I felt something crash into my left side. It was not the kidnappers back; it was another burlap sack. Phoebe, Carly, and Max were being kidnapped as well.
