Chapter 17
Sam & the Haunted Thundermans: The Dark Twister
Chapter Seventeen: How Did I End Up Here?
Carly Shay POV
My surroundings slowly became visible to me, as I slowly fluttered my eyes open. At first I saw complete darkness and started to think that I had went blind. But then, I realized that I was laying on my stomach. I immediately rolled myself over, so that I was now laying on my back. I stared up at the clear, blue sky. I then sat straight up to see that there was a big, blue ocean right in front of me. I looked down at the ground to see that I was laying in sand. I then turned myself around to see a bunch of palm trees and blueberry bushes. I was on a deserted island.
"How did I end up here?" I asked myself, as I looked at my sand-covered hands.
I immediately stood up, so that I could brush the sand off of my body. I just stood there for a couple of minutes, trying to recall how I ended up on this island. The last thing that happened to me that I could remember, was being picked up by that tornado. "That tornado must of taken me here!" I said out of realization, "But, how come it didn't tear me to shreds!?!?" For a couple of minutes I tried to remember what happened exactly before the tornado picked me up. All I could remember was being in the storm shelter with Dad and a bunch of other people, then the tornado tearing the shelter apart, then it carrying me away.
"Oh, Dad must be so worried!" I exclaimed, "I hope that somebody finds me soon!"
I then felt my stomach rumble. I was starving.
"How long have I been out for to make me this hungry?" I asked myself.
"What could I eat, what could I eat?" I thought to myself.
I then remembered about the blueberry bushes that were standing right in front of me. I immediately rushed towards the blueberry bushes.
Just as I had picked my first blueberry off of one of the bushes, I heard a familiar voice shout, "Carly Shay!?!? What are you doing here!?!?"
I let out a loud shriek, as I jumped. I began to throw blue berries in the direction where the voice had came from.
"Hey, watch it, Shay!" I heard the voice shout.
Still frightened, I continued to throw blueberries in the direction where the voice had came from.
"Stop throwing blueberries at me, Carly!" Nevel demanded, as he popped up from the other side of the blueberry bushes.
"N-Nevel!?!?" I stammered, "W-what are you doing here!?!?"
"I believe that it was I who asked that question first, Shay!"
"I really don't know, but I think that a tornado carried me here. Now, tell me how you got here, Nevel!"
"Same way you did. I don't remember much about what happened exactly, but I do remember being whisked away by a humungous tornado!"
"How long ago did that happen?"
"I don't know, Carly. I don't even know what day it is! I've only been up for a couple of minutes, so my head is still foggy from all of that spinning!"
I held my head as it began to spin. I was stuck on an island in the middle of nowhere and Nevel and I were its only pollutants. I began to shake my head as I backed away slowly.
"No! This can't be happening!" I cried.
"Ah, but it is," Nevel told me, as he smirked.
"NO!!! THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!!! IT JUST CAN'T BE!!!" I said a bit louder, as I started to back away from Nevel even faster.
"Get used to it, Carly! There's a lot of things that I've had to deal with that I didn't want to do, such as putting up with the fact that a person like you even exists!"
I then turned around and began to run away from Nevel.
"Wait, Carly!" Nevel shouted, as he hopped over the bushes and began to follow me.
I ignored him. I just continued to run away from him. As my breathing became heavier, my pace slowed down. I continued to run, until my legs gave out. My knees sank down into the sand as I began to cry.
"Carly, stop crying!" Nevel demanded.
"Leave me alone, Nevel!" I said coldly.
"Carly, as much as I hate you, I really don't want to argue with you. We need to strick together if we're going to survive."
"Nevel, what part of, 'leave me alone' don't you understand? I just really need my personal space right now."
"Fine, Carly. I'll leave you alone! But you'll rue this day, you'll rue it! You're going to die, if you choose to stay all alone on this island!"
"I don't care. I'd rather be dead than have to live with you, Nevel!"
"You know what? I'd rather be dead than live with you too!"
"Good!"
I turned around, as I watched Nevel storm off.
Then all of the sudden, Nevel and I both heard footsteps coming towards us from the forest of palm trees and blueberry bushes. Nevel stopped in his tracks, so that he could hear the footsteps. Both of our heads turned towards the palm trees and the bushes.
"Are you sure that the voices came from this way, Phoebe?" We heard a boy ask.
"I'm positive, Max!" We heard a girl, whom I am assuming is Phoebe answer.
"I'm taking your word on this, Phoebe! If nobody's there when we get there, I'm going to be really upset that you made me run all this way for nothing!" The boy, whom I am now assuming is Max shouted back.
"Hello?" I called out to the strangers, as I cupped my hands around my mouth.
"See, there the voices are again, Max! They can here us!" Phoebe shouted.
Then all of the sudden, a boy, who looked as if he was fifteen years old, with brown hair and brown eyes and a girl, who looked as if she was fifteen years old, with dark-brown hair and brown eyes came running out of the forest. As soon as they saw us, they both stopped in their tracks and began to stare at us.
"C-Carly S-Shay!?!?" The girl stammered.
"H-how do y-you know my n-name?" I stammered, as I began to back up slowly.
"From watching iCarly, silly!"
"Well, that makes sense," I replied, as I began to calm down.
"Who are you people!?!?" Nevel asked, as he marched right up to the boy and the girl, "I demand to know!"
"Well, I'm Max Thunderman, and that's my idiot twin sister, Phoebe Thunderman!" The boy introduced himself and his sister.
"I'm not an idiot, Max!" Phoebe argued, as she elbowed Max in the stomach, "You're an idiot!"
"Ow!"
"Thunderman?" Nevel asked suspiciously, "Like the super hero, Thunder Man?"
"No. Our last name just sounds like Thunder Man. It's really Thunderman," Phoebe told Nevel nervously.
Nevel laughed. "Of course it's not! There's no such thing as super heroes! Thunder Man was a made up television show with special effects added into it, to make it look as if the actor who portrayed Thunder Man actually had powers!"
Max and Phoebe both looked at each other, then laughed.
"Of course it is! We knew that! Everybody knows that there's no such thing as super powers!" Max told Nevel.
"Exactly!" Nevel agreed.
"So, what's your name?" Phoebe asked, as she pointed towards Nevel.
"My name is Nevel Papperman. Apparently, you already know my formal enemy, Carly Shay."
"Nice to meet you, Nev- Wait, you guys were once enemies!?!?"
"Oh, yes. Back in Seattle, we would often fight with each other. But since we need to stick together, in order survive, you could say that we're friends now, no matter how strong the hate between us is."
"Nevel, I never said that I was sticking with you!" Im argued, "I still would stick with you, even if you were the last person on Earth."
"Touché, Shay! If I were the last human being on this planet, none of you would be around!"
"You know what I meant, Nevel!"
"Guys, stop fighting!" Phoebe told Nevel and I, "Nevel's right. In order for us all to survive, we need to stick together, no matter how much we hate each other. Even if we don't know each other, we should still stick together. We are human beings and human beings stick together. For years, our ancestors have been doing this! There are people out there who are doing things for people that they don't even know, such as donating to charity, inventing stuff, cooking food, and making clothes!"
I just sighed.
"See, didn't I tell you, Carly?" Nevel asked me as he grinned.
"Yeah, whatever, Nevel," I muttered.
"So, how did you two end up on this island?"
"We were both whisked away by this huge tornado, while we were on a vacation in Mexico," Max explained.
Both my eyes and Nevel's eyes widened.
"How interesting!" Nevel exclaimed.
"Why is that interesting?" Max asked.
"Because we were taken away by tornadoes as well!"
Phoebe and Max's eyes widened.
"Really!?!?" They both gasped, shocked.
Nevel and I both nodded our heads.
"Guys, I don't think that we were whisked away by any ordinary tornadoes!" Phoebe exclaimed.
Max, Nevel, and I all turned towards Phoebe.
"Why not?" We asked her at once.
"Wait, we were you taken away by separate tornadoes?"
Phoebe asked Nevel and I.
We both nodded our heads.
"Well, don't you guys think that it's a bit strange that three separate tornadoes took us all to the same exact spot and didn't tear us up into shreds!?!?"
I started to get a weird vibe. Phoebe was right; that is strange!
"Oh my god, that is strange!" I agreed.
"Yeah, I do find that a bit peculiar," Nevel agreed.
"Oh my gosh, that's creepy!" Max cried, "I wonder if this is all a huge coincidence or that we were all brought here for a reason?"
Phoebe, Nevel, and I all thought for a moment.
"I think that it's just a coincidence," I told Max, "I mean, it's not like somebody's actually controlled the tornadoes and brought us here on purpose!"
"Yeah," Phoebe, Max, and Nevel agreed as they began to laugh.
I laughed with them. Then all of the sudden, I felt my stomach rumble again.
"I'm going to go eat some blueberries, ok guys?" I announced, as I picked myself off of the ground and started to head towards the blueberry bushes.
"Yeah, me too," Nevel told us, as he began to follow me.
"Ok," Max and Phoebe replied.
"I just want to warn you guys that the blueberries taste a bit funny!" Phoebe told Nevel and I, "Max and I think it's because they're planted into sand, and not into regular dirt.
"Ok, thanks for warning us!" I shouted back.
"Oh, and one more thing!"
"What?" Nevel and I both asked, as we turned around, so that we were facing Phoebe and Max.
"Do you guys want to go looking for coconuts with us, once you're done eating?" Phoebe asked.
Nevel and I both turned towards each other, then shrugged.
"I guess so...," we both agreed.
"Ok, good!" Max replied, "That coconut milk is going to give us more fluids than any of those blueberries will!"
"Yeah," Nevel and I agreed, as we turned around and continued to walk towards the blueberry bushes.
