Jude's Pov
∽
When Corinthia was asleep, she was as still as a brick. The only movement was the slight rise and fall of her chest. It was hard to imagine that this was the same girl just came from hell and fighting to keep herself together. In sleep she was angelic, her face as fresh as a dew drop, making gentle snuffling noises as she breathed. She was resting on my shoulder, tired and exhausted from all the running she had to do recently. Her fragile little heart couldn't keep up much longer so she took a well deserved nap.
The dread creeps over me like an icy chill, numbing my brain. In this frozen state my mind offers me only two thoughts, concern and confusion. Bellamy had saved our lives but now, she is still hunting us down like a predator would their prey. Was she being blinded once more? Could it be possible that she's being forced to? I didn't understand any of it. Not to mention my sociopathic aunt was with her, hunting down her only nephew. Did she know I was her nephew? That Elara Jane was my mother? So many unanswered questions and the force is showing me nothing.
Rey sat alone in the cockpit, watching as we passed the stars. Chewbacca was with us, of course he was. This was his ship, this was the one piece of Han Solo he had left and we intended to keep it. The Falcon floated elegantly through space as the three of us all sat in different units, figuring out what to do next.
It was mandatory we left D'Qar. The First Order would of attacked the Resistance without thinking twice. Since so many of our squadrons had left to escort the Senators from other planets to the base, we would of been out numbered severely. As keepers of peace, we had to leave. We couldn't risk the lives of many just so we could stay and it was pointless anyways, none of would of stayed even if we had the choice.
Then there was the other issue, become a Skywalker. By birth, I already was one to begin with. The next step was actually calling myself a Skywalker which I haven't done since I was a little boy. When Bellamy and I would play pretend outside in the meadows, I was always Luke Skywalker, unaware that he was my great uncle. Grandmother had a valid point and that was that there were no Solo's left, perhaps that is why I'm so determined to bring Bellamy back.
Our next move was to go to the planet Chandrila. That was the location of the Republic army, fully trained and ready for any attacks. The First Order wouldn't try and attack Chandrila, even if we were safely on it. In the meantime, Nalani will ask the Chancellor of the Republic for a mandatory plea of help. No matter what happens, I know that Nalani will be able to get the senate to agree.
Corinthia nuzzled her cheek against my arm, tiredly rubbing her eyes. Her blue eyes met mine and she smiled. "Hey Solo."
I gave her a lazy smile. "You might be calling me Skywalker soon."
"Are you actually thinking about changing your name?" She questions, interlocking our fingers. "I'm with you either way Jude, you know that."
"I know," I nod my head, still unsure. "It may affect you in the future too. How would you like being a Skywalker?"
Her cheeks went a noticeably dark pink. "I think Solo or Skywalker works."
Luke creeped in from behind the cockpit. "Are you both well rested?" I nod my head, watching as Luke went to take a seat across from us. "I fear that something horrible has happened."
Suddenly all I see is Luke, literally. Everything else falls away. I no longer hear the rustle of the engines and I can't feel Corinthia's hand. Every natural body movement is on hold and I gulp. "What is it?"
Rey stalked in from the cockpit and went to sit on the other side of Luke, watching him worriedly. "Master?"
"After the massacre of my old padawan's, I was left in shambles. When I went to go locate your mother, Leia had told me that she left and the only two Jedi left were Kali and Rey," He explains. "Kali was hunted down and killed but I was able to keep Rey safe. Why is that?"
Rey furrowed her brow. "You muted my memory."
"Correct."
When Kylo Ren killed all of Luke's apprentices, Rey and my mother were the only survivors. Since my mother was a Jedi Master, she was able to take care of herself while Rey was still young. In order to protect her from being hunted down, Luke put her memory on 'mute' so she would forget her force sensitivity and live a normal life, even if it wasn't so great. When we found him a decade ago, it was restored through bits and pieces until it was eventually full again.
"Why is this horrible?" I question.
"Anakin, my father has returned to my dreams and isolation after many years of nothing. Through the force, he can speak to me and one day I will teach you how to reach out to the force masters of the past," Luke tells me, placing a hand on Rey's shoulder. "He has told me that Kylo Ren has done the same to your sister, that she has forgotten the good because her past has been muted."
I rested my head in my hands. Every word stung, only fueling the fire that burned inside of me. Every violated phrase was like gasoline to it, my fists began to clench and my jaw rooted. "You're joking."
"Please control your anger Jude," Rey uttered, looking just as horrified as I did. "It won't help anything."
"He took away her good memories of me?" Burning rage hissed through my body like deathly poison, screeching a demanded release in the form of unwanted violence. It was like a volcano erupting; fury sweeping me like a ferocious wave. "That's just pure evil!"
"He didn't take away her memories, they are still there but they feel more like a hazy dream."
The wrath consumed me, engulfing my moralities and destroying the boundaries of loyalty. I take the first thing I see and swing it at the interior of the Falcon, then I throw another thing and another until there was nothing left to throw. One icy question still haunts my mind as I turn to Luke. "Why?"
"To make her the ultimate Sith Lord."
I exploded with anger, with no control. Objects levitated and the suddenly broke. Corinthia dropped to the floor as the primeval instinct took over, shielding herself from the breaking glass. "My sister is a brainwashed goon? Some kind of experiment? Property that belongs to the First Order?" I hold onto the walls, wrapping my fingers around some loose wires and bolts. "Hey Anakin? Why don't you come back from the dead and tell me! The one who is suffering, the one who is being punished for doing nothing but good!"
Chewbacca, clearly unhappy with the mess I had made rounded the corner of the Falcon and made a noise, but I was too upset to reply.
I watched as Corinthia looked up at me with watery eyes, terrified of what I had just done. Ashamed and still filled with rage, I turn around and walk straight into the cockpit, shutting the door behind me. I punch the door, once, twice, three times before I am finally able to sit down. What did I do to deserve this?
"Let me explain everything son."
