Bellamy's Pov
∽
"Again."
"Father I can't, I need to stop."
"You can't stop, you have to keep going."
I look up at him, my vision blurry from the glossy tears threatening to spill. "I can't."
"You have to," He urged. "You don't understand."
"I do understand," I sit on the ground, gasping for air. "I know how to swing my lightsaber and I know how to block, I know how to get into people's minds and I know how to use the force. What more can I learn?"
"Lots," He assures me. "But with great power comes a greater need to practice. You must be strong, you must never stop."
"I can't," I say defeated.
Holding back what he wanted to say, he lowered himself onto one knee and placed one of his hands on my cheek. "You fear him, don't you?" Knowing that he meant Snoke, I nodded my head. "Want to know something?"
I nod my head again, desperate to know.
"He fears you, so you must never show that you fear him. Do you understand me?"
I stared at him for a while longer, completely dumbfounded and young. I pick up my lightsaber off the ground and ignite it, the purple saber reflecting off my dark eyes. "I can do this."
He pressed a kiss to my forehead and stood up, taking a step back so I could slaughter the training dummies.
I sit still in my chair, with no strength to move. My shaky fingers finally come to stop after running restlessly through my messed up hair. I bite down on my lip trying not to let my emotions show.
This was extremely unusual. I don't remember training with my father that much, but it wasn't something I wanted to remember. It was dark and cruel, with neverending practices and constant yelling. I don't remember the scene playing in my head at all. I don't remember his hand on my cheek or the compassion he showed for his ten year old daughter.
This was not going to help. I am using most of my energy to put myself back into the position of being Isidore Ren, and this is not going to change anything. I have other things to focus on.
Sebastian Paladin's hand waves in front of my face and I'm brought out my daze. "Oi sweetheart, we need our General if we are going to leave," He jokes. "I can come back later if Isidore Ren isn't home."
I roll my eyes and stand up, pushing past Sebastian as I slip through the crowd of stormtroopers waiting to board our neighbouring ships. Kalila, Sebastian, Elwood, Captain Phasma, my father and I would be taking off to hunt down the remaining Jedi. General Hux has been put in charge for the time being, Snoke knowing just the basics of the plan.
Wrapped in black silk, I notice Elwood standing near our ship wearing something other than his First Order uniform. Beside him is Kalila, holding a blaster in her right hand. I walk up to them and nod my head professionally at Elwood, who returns the same gesture.
"We are set to go, we are just waiting for your father," Kalila explains. "We will be taking a separate ship and your team of stormtroopers will be following behind us, piloted by some guy named Captain Oink."
"Captain Onyx," I correct her. "This will be an easy mission, they are clearly on D'Qar."
From behind me, Sebastian gives me another reason to stab him with my lightsaber. "You are wrong about that sunshine. A ship just left D'Qar's system and we have gained confirmation that it is the Jedi."
"Right," I bite the inside of my cheek so I don't lash out. "Prepare for takeoff and someone find my father."
Sebastian salutes me and sends a wink my way, causing me to cringe. Kalila turns on her heel to locate the whereabouts of my father and Sebastian stalks behind her.
"I don't like him," Elwood shakes his head knowingly. "Gives off a bad vibe."
"He's a bounty hunter," I look around before wrapping my arms around his neck. "I'm sure he'll be helpful somehow."
Elwood grunts. "I won't say anything if he stops calling you sunshine."
"Don't forget about sweetheart," I grumble, quickly laughing at Elwood's clenched jaw. "Is Lieutenant Elwood jealous?"
"No."
"You sure about that?" My father turns the corner and my hands drop to my side, following behind him are Kalila and Sebastian. He walks into the ship without under word. A few short moments later, Phasma boards the ship. "This is going to be a painfully long flight."
"I'm afraid so princess," Elwood pecks my lips quickly before running off like a giddy child.
I aboard the ship and take a seat near Kalila, watching her concentrate on getting the ship off the docking bay floor. She probably hasn't flown any Imperial designed ships but I don't doubt her ability, she's a Jane.
I watch at the Finalizer slowly disappears and we fly out into the galaxy at light speed...
Impatiently, I wait in my room for my father to come back from a mission somewhere in the Outer Rims. General Hux promised me that he would be back tonight so I told myself that I would stay up all night until he returned.
Hope is a bright star in a hopelessly dark universe. Through light years of distance, the brightness fills our inner selves. Hope makes us smile on the inside as well as on the outside. Hope is not just an emotion, it is a promise that smiling and laughter are just around the corner. That's all I had when my father went on a dangerous mission and hope always brought him back.
In the dimmed light of my headquarters, he swoops in like a phantom. Barely awake, I smile tiredly at him as he takes a seat on my bed. "I'm back."
My voice comes out raspy and weak. "I knew you'd come back, you always do."
"How was it while I was gone?" He questions, his mask missing in action.
"Okay," I yawn. "Snoke taught me how to meditate."
"Excellent," He nods his head, a pained expression on his scarred face. "I'm so sorry I had to go again."
I shrug, my shoulders raising and then dropping. "You're forgetting something."
"I don't think I am," I poke his cheek and a beautiful but rare grin appears on his face. "Happy ninth birthday Bellamy."
"Isidore," I correct sadly. "It's Isidore."
"Not to me Bell, not me," His eyes remain their dark shade of brown but slowly fill with tears. He presses his fingertips to my forehead and closes his eyes.
Suddenly, everything is black and I don't remember anything that just happened between my father and I.
But I remember now.
