Seated at Jesus' feet
Day Ten
The Lord answered her, "Martha, my beloved Martha. Why are you upset and troubled, pulled away by all these many distractions? Are they really that important? Mary has discovered the one thing most important by choosing to sit at my feet. She is undistracted, and I won't take this privilege from her."
Luke 10:41-42 TPT
There are many things that can pull us away from the feet of Jesus. Jesus calls these things distractions.
The Bible says, "Are they really that important?"
We should always ask that question. Is what I am doing that important?
Jesus loves to be worshiped. It's always better to choose Him over everything else. Sometimes we never know that the things we have prioritized are distractions. And notice also that Martha wasn't doing anything bad. She wasn't in sin. She was just doing what she thought was important. But in the end, she missed an opportunity to be at the feet of Jesus.
Being distracted doesn't always mean sinning. It doesn't mean you're doing something bad really, but it means you missed an opportunity to be with Jesus.
Relationships can be distractions. Are relationships bad? No! School can be a distraction. Is school bad? No!
With these few examples, I know we understand the point.
Jesus is always with us. The more conscious of aware we are of His presence, the less distracted we are.
Mary was very conscious of the presence of Jesus. In being aware, she found herself at His feet.
Awareness directs us to the feet of Jesus. When we are not even aware, we wouldn't be able to sit at His very feet.
Prayer: In the name of Jesus, Glorious Father we thankyou. We magnify you. Thank you for being our ever present help in the time ofneed. May you help us to be aware of your presence. In the mighty name of Jesus Christwe pray. Amen
