Day Fourteen

For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted."
Luke 14:11 NIV

Humility marks us. By being humble, we attract God's kindness and mercy.
The Bible says, "Those who humble themselves will be exalted."
God does the exalting. But He doesn't exalt us if we are proud.

 But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, 'Friend, move up to a better place.' Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests.

Luke 14:10 NIV

A lot of times we think we deserve all we have. But a humble person will realize that everything we have is given to us by God.
I think that's why God loved David so much. David always seemed to exalt God. God should always be exalted.
 When we try to exalt ourselves, we lose a special relationship with our Heavenly Father.

 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble."

James 4:6 NIV

He gives us more grace. Grace is given to people who are humble. When we think we already have it all, it means we can no longer receive from God.
God gives grace to people who know that their lives depend on Him.

 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.

1 Peter 5:6 NIV

Humility is the path that leads us to great heights in the Christian journey.
In humility, Jesus died for us. In humility, Jesus lowered Himself. In humility, Jesus lived with the people of the Earth without robbing God's glory.

 The entire time Jesus only glorified God. He never sought to make Himself Great. By being Humble, He took the highest seat in Heaven. When we humble ourselves, God lifts us up. It won't always look great. But if God says we should be humble. We'd better do it.

Prayer:  InJesus's name, gracious Father we bless Your sacred name every day. Indeed Youare full of compassion and great in mercy. We praise You for Youreverlasting kingdom and for Your dominion that endures throughout allgenerations. Because You are rich in mercy, grace and peace, You open Your handand satisfy the desire of every living thing. To those that desire healing Yougive them good health, to those that desire provision, You provide for theirneeds, to those that desire strength and comfort You give them strength andcomfort. Indeed You open Your gracious hand and You satisfy the desire of everyliving thing. To all that and more, we are forever grateful and thankful. InJesus's name we pray. Amen.
