19-The Box
Doc's POV
"Commander, please be more reasonable." I tried arguing with his decision. I just didn't think this plans of his would work.
He sighed and stopped in his place before turning around to face me, "Look, I don't want to kidnap an innocent girl. That's who she is to me, innocent. That is going to be a last resort. For now, this is what we're doing and I'm sorry you do not agree," He rubbed his temples in frustration, "Our quarrel is with Vader, not her, so that's who we're going after." He turned away from me but I kept following him.
"I don't mean to argue with you sir but this plan has too many risks." There are so many ways it can go wrong. I heard Vader can read minds, how is this not something he will see coming?
He sighed again, "I know, but I've had someone training for this already for awhile, I'm sure she will slip through just fine." He spoke with slight confidence but I could still hear the worry in his voice.
Vader's POV
I couldn't sleep.
So I decided to watch her instead. I watched as her chest lifted and dropped with every breathe that she took. I watched as her lips slightly parted as she dreamed. I admired the way her (y/h/c) hair rested on the silk pillows and the way the stars outside shined a light in that illuminated her features. She was so beautiful.
She's been in here with me every night this week. I just can't seem to get enough of her. I reached my hand over and I gently caressed her cheek, "I'd burn this entire galaxy before I let anything happen to you." I whispered, trying not to wake her up.
"That's unnecessary." She mumbled as she opened her eyes to meet mine.
Well it appears I failed at not waking her up.
I chuckled, "I think it's extremely necessary." I grabbed onto her and pulled her so she could lay on my chest, "I love you and I don't want anything to happen to you." I sighed as I brushed her hair. I can never get the fear out of my mind that she's going to end up dead because of me. But I've tried staying away and it just doesn't seem to work.
She lifted herself so she could look into my eyes again, "I love you too Anakin," She smiled and my stomach got butterflies when she said my name, my real name, "But you have to stop worrying about things like that, you need to enjoy the moments we do have and not let them pass by because you're so caught up in your fears." She spoke like she knew I'd be her end as well.
I squeezed her tightly, "When did you get so smart?" I teased and she let out a giggle.
"I've always been smart, smarter than you even." She pressed her finger to my nose playfully.
I cupped her face with my mechanical hand, "I know you are." I brought my face down and pressed my lips to hers. The warm feeling she gives me spread throughout my body, Everytime I had her in my arms is when I felt human.
I assumed Palpatine stripped me of all of it. But this girl proved me wrong. She brings out things in me that I thought were lost forever.
She broke away from the kiss and yawned, "Alright I'll let you sleep." I brought her head down so she could rest on me. She lifted her arm and wrapped it my stomach so she could hug me tightly.
"Goodnight Ani."
I smiled at the nickname and laid my head back on the pillow, "Goodnight (y/n)."
(y/n)'s POV
I didn't have much to do today so once again it was like a day off. I spent it in the Hangar making something for Anakin. He got me a gift for my birthday and now I just want to give him something in return.
I don't know his birthday and he won't tell it to me either, so I'm just giving this to him for the hell of it and he'll have no choice but to accept it.
"Hello." I jumped at the feminine, people really need to stop scaring me.
I looked up to see a blonde girl that I've never seen before. "Uh hi," I responded confused, "Did you need something?"
She nodded, "Yes actually, I'm looking for Lord Vader's office, can you tell me where it is?" She questioned causing me to drop what I was doing to stand up.
"That depends," I folded my arms over my chest, "Why are you looking for him?" I eyed her curiously. I wasn't jealous or anything even though she was attractive. I was mostly being protective because I didn't recognize her and I don't know her intentions.
She looked a little taken back by my questioning, "I'm the new assistant for the weapons department, I'm Kara." She held her hand out to me and I accepted it, "I was told I had to speak with Lord Vader about my position."
That's odd, on my first day I was told to stay away from him. Something about this isn't sitting right with me, "Alright I'll take you to him." I nodded for her to follow.
"That's not necessary," She spoke up and I stopped myself from moving any further, "I mean, you looked busy and I don't want to disturb you. If you tell me where it is, I'm sure I'll find it on my own." She spoke rather quickly.
I shook my head and gave a small smile, "Don't be silly, I wouldn't want you getting lost. Come on." I gestured for her to follow me and she did, but she looked slightly reluctant.
I made my way down to his office and I knocked on the door but there was no answer. I pressed the button on the side for the door to slide open and I peered inside to find it empty, "It appears he isn't here right now." I pressed the button for the door to close and I looked at the girl who was still eyeing the door.
She looked away and gave me a smile, "It's okay, lll find him later." She nodded before walking off without saying goodbye.
What a weird girl.
I pushed the woman away from my mind and made my way back to the Hangar to finish my little project. I'm suppose to meet him in an hour and that's plenty of time to finish this.
~*~•~*~
I stepped up to his office anxiously waiting to give him his present. I've been trying my hardest not to think about to it so he won't know what it is til he opens it. As if on cue, the door slid open to reveal him sitting behind his desk with a smile on his face.
I eagerly stepped inside and I saw him wave his hand again so the door closed behind me, "Excited to see me?" He chuckled and I nodded as I kept my hands behind my back. I watched as his gaze shifted from my eyes to my arms, "What are you hiding?" He asked curiously as he tilted his head to the side.
I stepped closer to his desk and I set the box on it. "Happy Birthday." I smiled as I pushed the gift towards him.
He gave me a confused look, "It's not my birthday." He responded and he pushed the box back to me.
"Well you won't tell me when your birthday is so," I pushed the box back, "We're pretending."
He let out a chuckle, "I don't like gifts." He pushed it back and I was starting to get annoyed.
"I don't care." I pushed it again and I saw him start to get annoyed as well.
He placed his hand on it and roughly pushed it towards me, "I said no." He responded more sternly.
"Take the fucking box." I snapped as I practically shoved it against him.
He narrowed his eyes, "Just cause I fuck you doesn't mean you can can talk to me like that." He used the force and the box slid back over to me.
I know what will work.
I stood up straight and gazed into his eyes,"Please." I started to push the tears out of my eyes.
His eyes widened and he instantly grabbed the box.
"Fine," He sighed in defeat, "Just don't cry, you know I can't stand seeing you cry."
I smiled as I took a seat in the chair, "I know."
He shook his head with a smile because he knew I was faking it just to get him to take the gift.
He opened it and pulled out a bell that I made from scrap metal from the Tie-fighters, "I told you twice already that I'm not wearing a bell." He gave me an annoyed look as he held the bell up in the air.
I stood up and grabbed it from his hand, "It's not for you to wear stupid," I informed him and he raised his brows at me when I called him stupid, "This is too big to wear, it's for your new desk." I smiled proudly as I set it down next to his other little nick-nacks he had. I looked up at him and he held a beautiful smile on his face, "Oh and," I picked it up and rung it, "You can use it to call Piett." I chuckled and he burst into laughter at my comment.
"Come here." He said in between laughs as he gestured for me to walk around his desk. I did as he said and he pulled me by my waist so I could sit on his lap, "I love it." He brought his hands in my hair and brought my face to his so he could place a small kiss on my lips.
"I made it myself." I responded proudly when I pulled away from the kiss.
He looked back at it then at me, "I love it even more." He squeezed me gently before releasing me so I could go back and sit across from him.
"Alright so what did you bring me for lunch?" I asked as I sat back down. He reached down next to him and pulled out a bag that he sat in-front of me.
"I had the cooks make you something a little different than everyone else and don't worry, there's pudding." He added with a wink, he knew about my extremely unhealthy obsession with pudding.
I cheered happily as I grabbed the bag and pulled out the pudding before anything else. He shook his head with amusement on his face as he watched me open it and take the first bite, "What about you, where's yours?" I asked when I noticed he didn't have anything in front of him.
He grabbed his bottle of whiskey and poured a glass, "I'm not hungry." He shrugged as he took a sip of his alcohol.
"I feel like I've never seen you eat, but I've seen you drink more times than I can count." I sighed as I continued to eat my pudding.
He took another sip and leaned his head back, "This war isn't easy, plus the emperor isn't easy to deal with eith-" He stopped speaking which caused me to look up at him.
He had his hand to his throat and he started to cough, "Anakin are you okay?" I questioned with concern as I placed my food down and began to stand up.
He stopped coughing but he was breathing heavily as he looked at his glass, "Someone's been in here." He choked out, his voice sounded like it was grazed with sandpaper.
"What how do you know?" I walked around to him.
He dropped the glass down and the liquid spilled all over his desk, "Because this is poisoned."
