18-Hourglass

(I'd be lying if I said I didn't rewrite this chapter in about five different ways, they are all currently in my drafts haha but somehow this version is the one that won 🤷🏻‍♀️ I was having a difficult time figuring out how to move forward, I was even worried I had them go too fast but as I re-read everything I realized that everything I've written has had a purpose and I'm feeling much better about my story so please enjoy this chapter 💜)

(y/n)'s POV
"You know, you've been wearing your hair down a lot this past week and I have to say, I am loving it." Adam complimented me as we walked down the hallway together, little did he know I was just trying to cover the hickeys that I currently had. Poor guy.

"Thanks Adam." I smiled up at him. He insisted on walking me to the hangar where I have several wrecked TIE-Fighters to fix by Admiral Tarkins request. I swear these Imps and Rebels are gonna keep me employed for a long time, there's always something to fix.

We reached the door to the Hangar and Adam hugged me goodbye before we parted ways. He's been working on a new weapon lately, he said it's going to become the greatest weapon in the war. It makes me a little nervous, I wonder what kind of mass destruction his designs are going to be causing.

I pressed the button on the keypad so the door slid open and I was greeted by Captain Landon. Great, I internally rolled my eyes. I hate almost every Captain here except for Piett, they are all just so unnecessarily rude, "There you are." He sighed in annoyance as he stepped up to me and shoved a small beat up droid into my grasp, "I need you to fix this as soon as possible."

Like I said, rude.

I nodded as I looked down at the droid, "Okay but it'll have to wait till I'm done with those." I gestured to the fighters behind him.

He narrowed his eyes at me with clear irritation in his features, "This is a simple droid, it won't take as long as those."

"You're right it won't. But I have orders from Tarkin to fix those before anything else, so I'm sorry but you'll have to wait or you can go to a different mechanic." I swear everyone thinks I'm the only one here. And fixing it really wouldn't take long, but the last time I placed a task ahead of what Tarkin assigned me, I received a strong verbal warning. Plus this guy was being a bit of a dick, as usual, so I didn't really want to help him.

He stepped up to me threateningly, "I am your superior, I can have you kicked out of this place in five minutes,"He snapped at me. Although I didn't feel worried in the slightest over his threat, he was clearly overestimating his authority, "Fix the damn droid, I won't ask again!"

I have never seen anyone get so worked up over a droid before, except Captain Oldin. May he Rest In Peace..

"Look sir. I already told you what my orders are, but if you would like take up your threat and 'kick me out' then you'll have to take it up with Tarkin or Lord Vader." I shrugged as I walked past him to my work station and I set the droid down gently so it wouldn't completely fall apart.

He scoffed at my comment, "I just might, you can easily be replaced and I know Lord Vader doesn't take kindly to bitches who talk back to their superiors," He smirked and I raised my eyebrows at his 'bitches' comment, "You'll be lucky if you're not on the receiving end of his choke hold."

Oh I sure as hell hope I am.

He began to walk away, towards the exit of the Hangar, "Where are you going? I thought we were having a nice chat?" I responded sarcastically with a smile.

"To let Lord Vader know what a smart mouth bitch you are." The door to the Hangar slid open and he exited.

Wow someone clearly has anger issues.

Vader's POV
I poured the brown liquid into my small glass and brought it up to my lips. The contents burned my throat, but I needed that small amount of relief that the alcohol brought me.

I told her I love her.

Which wasn't a lie, I do love her, more than I thought possible. I didn't even realize it was happening until I was already too deep into it to do anything about it. I wasn't even sure if I was even capable of love anymore. Then this girl walks into my life.. But I still can't figure out why, I don't know why I felt so drawn to her. This whole feeling was new to me and it was intense, I wasn't even sure how to handle it.

I have this fear in the back of my mind at all times that I'll accidentally hurt her or that someone else will find out and they'll hurt her or take her from me. I can now see why love and attachment was forbidden in the order. There's this constant fear that you're going to lose them and it's enough to drive you completely insane. Hence the alcohol.

She is my one weakness and that makes her important to a lot of people. If Palpatine finds out, she's dead. If the rebels find out, they'd surely use her against me in the war. And if anyone on this station finds out then who knows what will happen.

Which brings me back to wanting to run away again. But I knew I couldn't do that to her. Not only was it painful for her but it was painful for me too. I spent my time using the pain it brought me in my battles against the rebels. I killed so many. Which is another thing that I wonder, why does she love me? I hardly go a day without taking a life. She knows this but she still chooses to be with me. Even if I can see into her mind, I'll still never fully understand her.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a knock on my door. With the wave of my hand I slid it open to reveal Captain Landon, "What do you want?" I sighed in irritation as I leaned my head back on my chair.

"Forgive me for disturbing you my lord," He walked into the room and stood in front of my desk, "But I have an issue with one of our employees, they have displayed disrespectful behavior. I request termination."

I rolled my eyes slightly, "And why are you bothering me with such things? Termination is not something I deal with, you take that up with Admiral Tarkin."

He sighed as he shook his head, "Tarkin won't fire her, he considers her skills valuable. So I figured if you knew what kind of people you have working under you, then you would be inclined to do something about it."

"Who are you referring to and what has she done?" I questioned although I was starting to get the feeling I knew who he was talking about.

"The mechanic (y/n)," Of course, "She's a smart mouth bit-" I raised my hand to cut him off as he began to gasp for air.

"Choose your next words wisely Captain Landon," I threatened as I stood up and walked around my desk towards him, "You will not bother me again with something like this. I don't care what she has done or what she has said to you. She is valuable and you would be wise not to come to me or Tarkin about her again." I loosened my grip and he started catching up on all the oxygen he was lacking, "Now get out before it is you who I am inclined to terminate." I growled at the last word to show him exactly what I meant by 'terminate'.

He still had his hand on his throat, "Forgive me my lord." He spoke quick and there was fear in his voice. He turned away and left the room without a second to spare.

Doc's POV
"Hourglass." The man at the entrance of one of our only rebel bases that did not get destroyed by Darth Vader and his troops spoke to me. This was a code to know that we belonged.

"Only time will tell." I responded, it doesn't really make sense but I suppose it's not suppose to. We wouldn't want any random person figuring it out.

He opened the door for me and I stepped inside and was met by a large number of rebels. Since most of our other bases were destroyed, the survivors have run off to all the bases that did survive. These ones were our secret bases, the locations are never meant to be placed on paper or digitally. We had to remember where they were the old fashioned way.

I had my goal set on person, the leader of the rebel alliance. None of us knew his real name, we all just called him the Commander, although I have never actually met him. "Excuse me," I tapped the shoulder of a small man I didn't recognize, "I'm looking for the Commander."

He shook his head with a half smile, "He doesn't wish to be disturbed right now."

"I have important information regarding Darth Vader." I informed him and his smile turned into a deep frown.

"Follow me." He turned and started making his way through the other people and I did my best to follow closely behind. While occasionally apologizing to anyone I bumped into or if I stepped on their foot. It was slightly crowded in here. "Commander I have someone here who wants to speak to you." He brought me to a door where there was a man sitting behind a desk, looking stressed out while drinking alcohol from a small glass.

"I thought I said I didn't want to be disturbed." He sighed without looking up, he didn't seem rude even though what he said might come off as rude. The poor man just looked exhausted.

"I understand but this man here says he has important information regarding Darth Vader." The small man spoke up, causing the Commander to lift his head up and look at me.

"Come in and close the door behind you," He instructed me. I did as he said and took a seat across from him. He chugged the remaining contents of his glass, "What base are you from?" He finally asked as he set the glass down and leaned back in his chair.

"Hoth sir." I nodded and his brows knitted together.

"I was informed everyone there died last week." He responded confused.

I sighed at the mention of my dead friends, "They all did, except me. They were killed by Darth Vader but I'm the only survivor."

"How did you manage that?" He tilted his head curiously.

"He let me live." I answered honestly and he let out an amused laugh.

He shook his head while still laughing, "He doesn't leave anyone alive purposely."

"That's what I've come to tell you sir, there was a woman," I began and he stopped laughing but instead looked intrigued, "She was on an Imp ship that was shot down and I saved her life. Darth Vader showed up not long after, but he spared me and he said it was because I saved her. I know it sounds insane but I think she means something to him."

He began to stroke his beard, "That sounds impossible. He doesn't care for anyone, not anymore." He sighed as he looked away from me like he was lost in a memory.

I scooted myself closer, "I watched him heal all of her wounds," His head snap to me, "He was gentle with her and I even saw him kiss her, I'm telling you that this girl is his weakness and is exactly what we need to win."

He dropped his hand down roughly on the desk, "You're not suggesting we kidnap an innocent girl and use her as a pawn are you?"

I nodded, "That's exactly what I'm suggesting, besides we don't know how innocent she is. If I'm right, then she's involved with Darth Vader and what woman is crazy enough to do that, to willingly be with a murderer?" I almost shouted and he shot me a look that told me to keep my voice down.

He sighed as he leaned his back so he could look up at the ceiling in thought, after a few moments he looked back down and into my eyes, "Tell everyone to get ready, I have an announcement."

(y/n)'s POV
I hopped down from stool and grabbed my rag to wipe the sweat from my forehead. I eyed my work and smiled proudly, it was perfect as always.

I grabbed my water from the floor and chugged it before walking to my station where the droid was. Captain Landon never returned so I'm assuming his talk went as well as I expected it to.

"Can there ever be a day where you aren't causing trouble?" I jumped at the voice and turned around to see Anakin leaning on the wall.

I smiled at him and my heart fluttered due to his presence, "And how long have you been there?"

"Twenty minutes or so." He smirked before pushing himself off the wall and making his way towards me, "But you didn't answer my question." He stopped when he was a few inches away from me.

I shrugged, "He was rude for no reason and he called me a bitch so why would I not cause a little trouble?"

His smile dropped and he looked angry, "He called you a bitch to your face?" He growled and I placed a hand on his shoulder to calm him.

"Its fine, you can't kill everyone who's rude to me. It sort of comes with the job." I turned away from him to start working on the droid, "Besides you weren't the most welcoming when I got here either." I chuckled at the memory of when he threatened to kill me twice in the same day, now look where we are.

I felt him wrap his arms around me from behind, "You were crazy enough to to talk back to me." He whispered in my ear that caused a shiver to go down my spine.

"Anakin you can't do this in public, especially in here, there are cameras." I informed him, even though a part of me didn't want him to let go.

"I already moved the cameras so they didn't face us and I can hear everyone in the hallways, we're fine." He spun me around so I could face him and he pressed his body against me so my back was against the station.

"I'm curious about this whole mind reading thing," I brought my hand up so I could grab his hood and pull it down to see his beautiful blonde curls, "Can you here everyone at all times? Doesn't that get annoying?" I tilted my head to the side.

He shook his head and I admired his hair that slightly bounced when he did, "I can tune it all out. I only hear who I want to and when I want to." He brought his lips close to mine. "So it's not like I'm listening all the time. Believe it or not, most of the time I'm not, unless I feel like there's a need to. Except you, I always listen to you."

"Why are you always listening to me?"

He brought a hand up to neck gently, "I like to make sure you're okay. Plus I think you have quite an entertaining mind." He smiled and I chuckled at his comment.

"Can every force sensitive person do it?" I questioned curiously.

Still with his lips close to grazing mine, "It's a skill like any other, you learn it. And I happen to have perfected it." He smirked narcissistically as he got even closer.

"You're just dying to kiss me aren't you?" I smiled brightly and he nodded. "Well then do it." I lifted my head up higher so our noses were touching. He then brought his lips down and pressed them to mine and the butterflies he always gave me erupted in my stomach. I lifted my arms to wrap them around his neck and I pulled him closer to me.
