fifty-eight
grant shot up from the bed gasping for air. when he got he breathing under control he looked down at his chest feeling amongst it not seeing any blood. he was confused as he noticed the floral bedsheet and floral linen.
the room had such a particular and familiar smell to it, the scent of vanilla mixed with lavender hit his nostrils. he pushed the cover back getting up looking in the mirror to see he was in a white-shirt and some white and blue pajamas. he frowned looking around the wooden walled room.
he could hear music playing throughout the house, grant bolted out of the room running down the steps into the kitchen. the house felt too familiar to him. nobody was in plain sight, he noticed that the front door was open. running outside, he saw the wrap around porch. then it hit him, he was at his grandmother's place.
his grandmother on his mother's side died when he was seven. it was a devastating loss for everyone especially grant and his mother. her house was a safe place for him, he would always stay with her the entire summer in italy since he was four. they always had the best times together. baking cookies, reading books together, planting fresh vegetables and fruits, making snow cones, mowing the lawn. so many great memories.
ahead of the house was a cornfield with an obvious clear trail in the center. grant walked down the steps and towards the trail. he took his time and ended up getting far away from the house. then suddenly he saw a woman dancing beautifully in the middle of the cornfield. she looked so free and happy. grant walked towards her, she stopped dancing when she noticed his presence. she looked young and healthy as ever.
they both looked at each other for a quick second, grant then let out a gasp. "grandma?" he asked in disbelief. she looked exactly like the pictures they have around his home plus his parents house from when she was a young twenty something year old.
she gasped not moving from her spot, grant walked up to her embracing her almost instantly. it took her a minute before she hugged him back, amala couldn't believe her own eyes
"oh my sweetheart...." you could hear her sniffle hugging her grandson. grant rubbed her back as his eyes were shut, "don't cry grandma.."
eventually the two broke away from the hug with grant confused as ever, "what is going on? why are you young and where am i? your house was demolished after you passed away." he began to ramble out of confusion
she cracked a smile, "sweetheart, you made it."
amala continued to smile as grant chuckled innocently. he didn't understand what she meant, "grandma what are you talking about?"
she grabbed his hand and began walking forward on the other side of the corn field. she bent down onto the fresh clean grass motioning for her grandson to do the exact same, he watched as she pulled the cornfield apart from both sides exposing a beautiful array of white clouds which caused grant to almost fall back. it was a beautiful view.
she watched as her grandson was going through the motions. amala then pointed downwards, grant quietly gasped amongst what he is witnessing.
everyone was in a huge and beautiful church seated. he saw a huge picture up of him beside a white and gold casket. his preacher from his church he grew up in was speaking, his eyes glanced over to his parents and grandfather. their eyes were covered from black shades along with elsbeth and sir james who sat with them silently comforting them. his mother was crying quietly hearing the preacher say nothing but nice things about grant. even his father who was always tough as nails was crying.
he looked over at alexandra who was biting her lip aggressively trying not to break down. she looked so heartbroken, her lip began to quiver as she stared down at the floor. as she shut her eyes, tears began falling down her cheeks with piper gently dabbing them away with a clean tissue. she wrapped her arms around her starting to comfort her friend. donatella also comforted her grieving niece
grant was completely flabbergasted coming to realization that he was in heaven.
he didn't even know he was crying, he turned over to look at his grandma with sadness, "why am i here grandma? i committed suicide, i don't deserve to be here." he said in dissatisfaction
"God forgave you and you do belong here sweetheart." grant shook his head looking back down at the funeral
his heart began to ache, "i hurt so many people. i'm selfish for what i have done." he admitted crying even harder.
lily was completely silent. no tears fell from her eyes. she was still in shock while holding onto to her stomach. emily watched alexandra from the other side of the church seeing her silently continue to cry. tears fell from her eyes
they eventually got though the funeral and burial that alexandra didn't go to. she couldn't do it, watch them put her bestfriend into the ground. regret probably would hit her eventually in life but she knew she was going to lose it completely if she went.
she stayed in the car far away from the private cemetery. she began breathing heavily as she saw doves flying past the car meaning they just let them go. alexandra shut her eyes and began to count aloud which made her calm down
the repass was immediately after at grant's grandfathers place. everyone was chatting amongst themselves while alexandra stood in the corner slowly sipping on her wine. she was in her own world disassociating from everyone after talking with them all.
piper motioned for emily to go and try to attempt to talk to alexandra. she really wanted them to make amends and be friends again. she misses all three of them hanging out whenever they have time
emily slowly walked up to alexandra who hadn't even noticed her creeping up upon her. "hey..."
alex looked up at her with no type of emotions, "hey." she whispered quietly. her tone sounded like she was tired, ready to go home. no words were uttered from alexandra after that, emily turned and looked at piper not knowing what to do
"keep talking to her." piper mouthed from across the room. emily nodded turning back around to face alexandra
emily sighed, "are you okay?" she asked with motive, sounding like she actually was worried. even though they stopped being friends, emily still cares about alex and loves her so much
alex shrugged, "i'm fine." she answered quietly. "how are you?" alex decided to ask with sweetness, emily nodded
"none of this feels real, you know?" she asked which caused alexandra to gulp the rest of her wine down quickly in seconds which concerned emily. alexandra sat the empty glass wine cup on top on the stone counter above the fireplace
alex just nodded away not engaging, "i wish you guys had more time together. he really was your soulmate." emily said not even thinking about how insensitive she sounded
alex didn't even give her any time to speak again, her fist balled up connecting with emily's nose which knock her back making her hit the floor. everyone gasped as piper ran over to help emily whose nose was bleeding. she pinched her nose looking at alexandra with nothing but disbelief. "forget this." alex mumbled grabbing her purse from off the couch storming out of the armani estate ignoring everyone calling out to her
her driver drove her to her house that was thirty minutes away. she stormed inside her huge mansion slamming the doors shut which alerted oliver who walked out of the living room seeing her stand there with both hands placed on her hips firmly. he quickly walked over to her
"you okay?" he asked softly as she deeply exhaled trying to not cry again. she didn't understand how she still had energy to cry after all the tears she released at the funeral
"i'm fine." she chuckled. oliver took her purse off her shoulder then hung it up onto the wall. oliver knew she wasn't okay. he could see it in her posture plus hear it in her voice that was devastated. oliver grabbed both her wrists then grabbed her hands gently
"c'mon, let's go get you washed up." he said picking her up with ease bridal style heading upstairs to her main bathroom in her huge room
oliver put her down then ran the water for her making sure it wasn't too hot or too cold. "i'll leave you to it." he announced heading to the door
"can you shower with me?" alexandra suddenly asked as oliver's hand touched the golden door knob. he looked at her with blank eyes, he didn't expect to hear her ask that. they have never bathed or showered together, so this was a first
"please?" she croaked out on the verge of tears. she didn't want to be alone, she wanted to be with her boyfriend, she wanted to be close to him and didn't want him out of her sight not even for a second
he shut the door before walking over to her, not saying anything. he pulled his jeans down to his ankles then slowly took his shirt off showing his toned chest plus abs. alexandra stood there like a statue not really being able to do anything at the moment
oliver took her dress off carefully then placed it onto the floor. she was now only in her black bra and matching underwear. "i'm going to take these off now okay?" he asked quietly, she nodded precisely as he did it
he then took his boxers off and grabbed her hand as they walked into the clean medieval style shower. there was enough room for many to be inside of it. oliver and her stood in front of each other as the water ran down both of their bodies. their hair immediately getting wet and appearing darker than usual
the warm water felt good as it hit their bodies. alexandra didn't even try to cover up, she just stood there. she looked down shutting her eyes, she felt oliver pull her head into his chest
she began to cry silently as he comforted her. he lost track of how long they stayed in the shower
