[7] Yours To Decide
"Not A single soul
Decides the fate of human
But yourself to you."
I've spent some time searching for creative ways to confess. Heck, I doubt I'll be able to bring up enough confidence to confess anyway.
But still, the urge to confess has been bugging me, especially since I kind of... Spilled that I liked someone to my friends at school. They don't know anything about haiku, they don't even know I'm into girls.
And I wouldn't know how to tell them about her when I still don't even know her name.
"Hellooo salmon! I see you have some salmon again! Did you get sick of it for a while?" pretty haiku lady greets me.
"Err I guess you could say that." No, I was suffering each day I couldn't eat salmon.
"May I ask you something?" I sit by her and hug my knees. Lately, I've been feeling overwhelmed. I think it started when I had that small fight with my mom.
"Sure, what is it?"
"What do you think of same-sex relationships?"
Fingers crossed that she isn't straight or homophobic or there goes my chances. I mean she always seemed pretty fruity to me.
"Oh." She pauses. "There's nothing wrong with it, I mean I'm not a straight person sooo."
A smile creeps onto my face, one that I can't control.
"What's your sexuality then?"
"Pansexual. And you? You seemed excited to ask all this. What brought it up?"
"I just... wanted to know. Oh! And I'm lesbian." I shift my gaze to stare at the ground. I could confess now, maybe I should. Is now a good time?
"I'm glad you brought this up though." Haiku smiles. "Now I feel more confident."
"Hm?"
I watch as she takes a deep breath, then exhales.
"I like you a lot so please go out with me!" She spoke so fast her words almost jumbled.
"You..." I blink a few times. She just beat me to it. I guess she's the more confident one between the two of us. "I like you too." I respond in a small voice.
"So you'll go out with me?"
"Y-yeah."
Ok but what do dating people do. Should I ask for any of her contact information? Her name, dumbass!
"By the way, you still haven't told me your name!"
"I already told you before, you can ask for anything but my name." She giggles.
"But we're dating right?"
Instead of responding she pats my head.
"How about your contact information, any of your social medias?"
"Hmm, I can give you my discord. I made an account there recently."
"Fair enough." I sigh.
She writes down her discord user on a paper, tears it out and hands it to me. And the username is Haiku, of course it is.
"Now may I ask you something?" She asks me.
"Eeeh ok." The reluctant and skeptical me slips in my speech.
"You seemed pretty worn out when you got here, what's up?"
"I was uhm. Actually planning to confess to you, but you confessed to me first."
She laughs. "My bad, do you want me to take back my confession so you can confess?"
"No thank you." I roll my eyes. "I've also been feeling a bit stressed out because of my family. Since they wouldn't support me being lesbian. I can't even make jokes."
"Oh. In the end it's yours to decide who you love. You chose to like me, and that choice yours, not your family's." Haiku moves closer, and wraps her arms around me. "Don't let them, or other people sway you ok? But keep yourself safe too."
"Right." I hug back. The comfort of being held like this makes me seriously drowsy. It's a weird new feeling I wouldn't mind getting used to.
