[15] Salmon And Her Haiku

"I look in your eyes
It is loved a lot by me
Just like fragile life."

Count the days I've spent beneath the tree in the solace of only my own presence. A little over two hands, with ten fingers. It was like a thorn to someone that loved pain, I don't mind the potential disaster I'm bringing myself into.

"Have you been waiting long?" I hear a soft honey-like voice.

It was the most random of days, not any special occasion for her and I in the past, not a holiday. A weekday, I'm tired, unpresentable in a white shirt with a paw design and black slacks. It didn't match but neither does my life because I'm sure I was once a rock.

"Been here hours each day for a couple weeks now."

She smiles and nods. It is a bit funny, while I have stuck to growing my hair out, wearing contact lenses instead of my glasses, her hair is cut in a style similar to mine back then, and she wears glasses with clear frames.

Still gorgeous though.

"I bought you some salmon sashimi." Miss haiku places a container filled with salmon in front of me and sits down. "Is it still your favorite?"

"I might've grown out of it a bit." I chuckle. Seeing her again made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. As much as I want to hug her my thoughts nag me.

So, does she have anyone yet?

"What have you been up to all this time? I've seen your name on a few good books, you write now?" She asks me.

"Surprisingly. You were quite the inspiration. And you?"

"I became a ghostwriter."

"Ah." There's a long pause between the both of us. It seemed to me she held pain when she told me she became a ghostwriter. I don't think it's a bad job, it pays well, but perhaps she isn't happy with that?

"Even now, there's still so many issues within my family. To the point I took a job which leaves me a lot of anonymity... Because they instilled so much pain into my life." She sighs. "My family went abroad that time I had to leave you, so my parents could divorce. Uhm anyways, I have my own life now so I can do what I please. I'm glad I managed to come back to you!"

"You've been through a lot, I'm also glad we get to meet again. Can I ask you something first though?"

I really, sincerely hope that now isn't a bad time to ask this.

"Oh! Go ahead!"

"We never got closure for our relationship so I was wondering if you... have someone now."

She giggles. Not even looking a bit embarrassed. Oh well, I'm the one asking the question, it's usually more embarrassing for the one asking the question.

"I don't have anyone else at the moment. You still in love with me?"

And she puts me on the spot.

"I was just asking! So that maybe we could... Again... D-date!" I stammer.

"Hehe, alright! But Lilena, my sweet salmon- wait salmon isn't sweet. Are you satisfied with not knowing your girlfriends name?"

"No, of course I. am. Not. It drives me insane sometimes to think that I don't even know the name of the person I'm dating.

"Lilena, nice to date you. My name is Louise.
