Sakura Blooms: [Chapter 8]

(A/N: Play music for more effect.)

As Sakura walked into the classroom, freshly showered and clean, she noticed two things: the large mob of girls surrounding a table, and the blonde boy that she had met a while ago.

"KYAAA—SASUKE-KUN!"

"Isn't he cute?"

"He's so handsome!"

"Sasuke-kun's so dark and mysterious...!"

She peeked over all the girls to see a skinny black-haired boy sitting with his elbows on the table, hands folded and in front of his face. Is this what is the normal reaction to seeing this boy? Perhaps I should adapt to not stand out.

"Oi, Sakura-chan!" The blonde boy she had saved waved at her.  (Was his name Naruto?) "You remember me, right?"

Sakura nodded and made a small attempt of a wave, remembering what Anko had told her of the so-called 'wave'.

Realizing she was to be acting like a rabid fangirl, she rushed forward with her arms stretched outward, saying, "Sasuke-kun," in a monotone voice. In short, she sounded like a zombie.

"Eh...Sakura-chan...what're you doing, —ttebayo?" Naruto scratched his head.

Sakura stopped in front of Sasuke and Naruto's table. "I was simply adapting to the elements surrounding me and acting like my inferior, brainless peers to prevent sticking out and gaining attention," she explained in her bored tone.

The whole class was now staring at Sakura, some weirded out, some interested, but most insulted she had called them inferior.

"Who does she think she is?!"

"She's really weird..."

"That girl kinda reminds me of this one book I read about aliens that act like her."

"That would explain the hair and her eyes..."

Soon enough, they were all laughing, except for a shy girl, a lazyass, and an Uchiha.

"Oi! Leave Sakura-chan alone!" Naruto yelled at the children.

Sakura's face remained impassive. "I do not understand the noise that you two and I have failed to produce," she said to Naruto and Sasuke, who looked half-amused, half-confused.

"Teme, this is Sakura-chan, dattebayo! She's a bit..." The blonde glanced at his friend. "Unique. She doesn't understand some...normal things," he explained to the Uchiha.

"Hn," the said boy grunted, but his eyes were trained on the pale girl.

"Ramen-boy," Sakura said, and Sasuke's eyebrows shot up, "If I am to stop acting as though I do not have a brain, than how should I act?"

Immediately, she became the victim to many glares. "Uh..."

"Ignore them," Sasuke finally said, his voice a little raspy from not speaking for a long time.

"Hn," Sakura grunted, and Naruto groaned.

"Teme, you can't just say or act however you want around her! Sakura-chan, normal people don't grunt and stuff, they eat ramen and play, —ttebayo!"

"I do not understand what 'play'ing is."

Naruto sweatdropped, along with anyone else listening in on the conversation. "It's having fun."

"Fun; enjoyment or entertainment," Sakura recited, making Naruto face palm.

"Well, yes, but—" The door slid open, and everyone rushed back to their seats, except for Sakura, who remained standing.

"Good morning, class! I'm your Academy sensei. You can call me Iruka-sensei!" He smiled, then faltered when he spotted Sakura. "Excuse me Miss," he called out in a pleasant tone, "can you sit down?"

Sakura nodded, but remained standing. "I do not know, can I?" She asked, confused, and everyone gasped. No one disrespected their sensei! (On the very first day.)

"Excuse me?" Iruka tried to stay friendly, but that girl was making it hard.

"You asked if I was physically capable of sitting down," she explained, "but I do not have an assigned seat."

"O-oh! You can sit between the blonde and the dark-haired boy."

"I am not obliged to show my appreciation for giving me something I should have been given without delay, but I am," Sakura said, making the class sweat drop.

"Uh...you're welcome?"

Sakura sat down in between Naruto and Sasuke, her spine straight, and her eyes looking forward.

"Class, I want you to tell me a bit about yourselves. When it's your turn, stand up and tell me what your name is, your birthday, your favorite food, and what your goal is!"

Iruka pointed at a girl in the far left corner. "You will start after me. I am Iruka Umino. My birthday is May 26, and my favorite food is Ichiraku's Ramen! My goal is to teach my Academy students everything they need to know do they can become strong shinobi of Konohagakure!"

Next the purple-haired girl went. "I'm Akari Hamada. My birthday is June 13, and I love mochi! My goal is to..." She peeked at Sasuke and squealed when he glanced at her, annoyed. Her dress that she is wearing will not be suitable for training.

"O-oh..." Iruka watched as almost all the girls squealed and fought over their beloved "Sasuke-kun".

"I don't get what's so cool about you, dattebayo!". Naruto was now squatting on the table, his face directly in front of Sasuke's.

"Hey, Dobe, don't get that clo—"

Everyone froze.

A boy turned around and scratched his sheep sheepishly. "Whoops, sorry! Did I..." The brown-haired boy gaped.

"I did not know you two were homosexual," Sakura stated, fascinated, as the two coughed and wiped off their lips.

"I-I'M NOT, —TTEBAYO!" Naruto wiped his mouth on his orange sleeve, as he rolled around in the aisle.

"Y-you Dobe!" Sasuke hissed as he wiped furiously and finally lost his composure, attempting to strangle the boy in the circle of crazed girl wanting blood.

:::

After the whole mishap was fixed, although Iruka suspected it the two boys' egos would never be fixed after that, the kids began introducing themselves again.

They were now at Sakura's table, with Naruto going first. "My name," he declared, fumbling with his goggles, "Is Naruto Uzumaki! My birthday is October 10, and I love ramen too! My goal...is to try all the ramen the world had to offer, —ttebayo! Oh, and become Hokage."

Everyone watched, dumbfounded that the blonde idiot thought he could be Hokage.

"Next," Iruka said, pointing to the pink-haired girl, who stood. She's wearing actual shinobi clothing, and already has weapons, He noted, looking at the pouch the she wore on her waist. When she took off her training gloves she was wearing, he had noticed scars and scratches all over. She's a hard worker.

"I do not have a name, but most call me Sakura," She said in her cold, empty voice. "My birthday..."

March 28. That's when you were taken into the village.

"My birthday is March 28. I do not particularly 'like' anything, but I go out for dango a lot. My goal is..."

To destroy Konohagakure. That is what I would say, but I have decided not to. Instead, I will create a fake identity.

"To assist allies and get stronger." She said down with her perfect posture as everyone openly stared at her.

"Surname?" Iruka asked.

"I do not have one, nor do I need one," Sakura stated calmly. Shikamaru had woken from his nap and was now staring at the girl curiously. He would have to ask his father about this troublesome girl.

"Er...next..."

Sasuke stood up, hands in his pockets. All the girls squealed when he spoke in his unusually low voice. "I am Sasuke Uchiha. My birthday? July 23. I...enjoy eating tomatoes. My goal is to get stronger. And avenge," he muttered the last part to himself as he sat back down them immediately returned to staring out the window.

'Avenge'...Rule number 25 of the Shinobi Code states: "A shinobi never shows their feelings, no matter what the circumstances. Feelings are a weakness that only clouds their judgment and weakens their sense of duty."

This boy is driven by emotion, and in the end will be his downfall...

Not much of Sasuke in this chapter, but don't worry! SasuSaku moments and Sasuke moments are coming up in the next few chapters!
