Ep 39: Final of Water and Wisdom-Pt2
Rei's POV
"Rei-Chan. Where are you going?!" I heard one of my friends yell for me as I ran out the gymnasium. I completely dismissed her and ran, ran like my life depended on it, for a life assigned to me to protect, is one I consider my own. I was yelled at by the teachers but their words were drowned out, my only objective being what has been commended to me. I must protect that one person, I just need to!
I kicked the doors open and ran out the school, the rain pouring over me as I got soaked with water. My lungs were burning and my was breathing short. Anyone would feel dizzy at the moment but I wasn't, I was running through pure adrenaline. My legs were running to the nearest place a crystal holder would be, the wind resistance futile attempt to pull me back was nothing against my will and mission.
I grabbed a hold of my wand, feeling the warmth radiating from it. "Mars Crystal Power, Make Up!!!!" The red ribbons surrounded my body, replacing my gym clothes with my senshi outfit. The moment I turned the corner, the red glow subsided and the ribbons untangled from me, revealing me as Sailor Mars, the guardian of fire.
My heels clicked against the concrete, acting almost like a ticking clock that I now felt was looming over me. 'If I don't get to one. We are doomed. I will not fail, I will not let anyone else be in the same situation as my grandpa and I will not let them get away with it!'
Moonlights POV
"This is planned, I can feel it." Irene said as she attacked two specters, them transforming into their counter white souls. I extended my fan and moved my hand across harshly, picking up the wind as the specter coming to me turned white and went upwards.
"They want to rest of the Rainbow Crystals." I said as I turned to Flora, who was using her vines effortlessly.
"The attack from earlier was Fighters." Irene commented.
"I know that brain. We need to get to Lekothea." I said.
"In that I agree." I turned and shot another attack to purify the specters. I then sensed something shift, making me turn towards where Lekothea's energy was.
"Mercury if fighting with her." I said. Irene stopped and looked over towards the direction I was looking towards.
"We need to go and help." She said, me nodding in approval before we began running towards that direction.
Ami's POV
I dodged the attack she directed towards me, her manipulation of the surrounding water being something I have never seen before. The skill she showed was remarkable, a skill I still have not yet achieved.
"Want me to cut your wings, Mercury?" She asked with a smirk, her brooch shining with a menacing glow. "Or better yet, hurt someone you care for?" She asked as she glanced over towards Maker, who was dealing with the specters. I glared at her.
"This is a fight between you and me Lekothea!" I snapped. She chuckled darkly, moving her hands to show me how well she manipulated the water, a strategy to make me feel apprehensive towards her. I felt a drop of sweat roll down my cheek and trail my jaw line as I clenched it.
"Oh, that is where you are wrong Mercury. You see, where I come from, the rule that tied us to the Underworld was proposed by your precious Maker. I have just as much hate towards her than I do towards you, maybe even more." She said and then caused the water to form into a circle, spinning with great speed, causing the wind to pick up in front of her, her hair being moved harshly.
"Frosting Cyclone!" She yelled and threw the circle towards me, the attack coming towards me at a great speed as a zipping sound was produced as it but through the wind. I dodged it but with one small movement of her hand, it diverted from its trajectory and went for me. My eyes went wide. 'She is able to control its pathway.' I thought as I landed in the ground and jumped back, the circle grazing the ground, or that is what it looked like but in reality it cut through and created a crack on the ground that measured about one mile. 'To what extent is the power of these senshi who reside in the underworld?' I asked myself as I prepared myself to do a counter attack, bringing my hand out as I moved away and tried to regain steady footing.
"Mercury! Water Rhapsody!!!!!!!" I called forth as my harp of water came to life and shot the attack towards the cyclone. They both clashed with a splash, fighting against each other in a match of strength, but unfortunately, my attack wasn't enough, the cyclone went right through, threatening to get too close. I barely was able to jump upwards and land before it even touched me.
"Give up! If you can't even keep up with such a weak attack then give up! Accept that out of both of us, I am the true wielder of water!" She said with a laugh as she summoned forth two more cyclones. As I jumped up to dodge the first one, the two other cyclones were right in my pathway, meaning that if Lekothea wanted to, which I was positive she did, she could shift them to cut me. Everything seemed to go in slow motion, seeing how close the cyclones were to me. I could feel one graze me, the itching cold frost bite forming as a mocking threat that if it continued, I will not only be cut but will freeze with frost bite. I heard a distant voice, maybe even saw a glow of periwinkle towards the distance.
Was it an illusion? Was it a distraction? No...no it wasn't that, my heart told me it wasn't. It was something long forgotten, a memory I had not reached out for until now, as I saw flashes of Silver Millenium. I saw Queen Serenity... Usagi... Minako... Rei... Makoto... but the one that stood out to me was someone with a white cape, blown by the small wind the moon revived. An amulet was handing around their neck, one that showed a white rose with handing blue diamonds that seemed like water droplets. Their clothing was not one that belong to the shoulders of Silver Millenium, and the sigil they had sued wasn't of our solar system, which was a four petal flower with a fire outline.
"You are the guardian of water, yes, but you are also the guardian of wisdom. You have the ability to use water as your weapon while also using your intellect. For like many gain wisdom in the course of millennia, so does water gain strength and cut through mountains. So get up and fight! Mercury!"
"Mercury, Water Rhapsody!!!!!!" I yelled and a great amount of my water surrounded me, forming a bubble that did not allow Lekothea to see me. The cyclones were now unable to change trajectory, bringing an opportunity for me as I summoned my second attack, my shards of ice piercing through the cyclones. They seemed to fight to get out, but without Lekothea's control, they couldn't go up to get themselves out of my shards. I landed on the ground and looked at the situation, feeling the needling numbness come in because of the frost bite.
'Now that I know these cyclones not only cut but make the target freeze, I can use that to my advantage. If I go with Lekothea not being able to control them without her actually seeing them, and if she herself can't withstand her own attack, then I can turn her own attack against her by using perceive movements that will allow me to blind her and get her to be the next target. My only problem with this is that if I do in fact succeed, Lekothea might come out greatly damaged to the point she would be at the edge of death...and I don't want to be the cause of that.'
I felt a sudden hit, making me realize that Lekothea was trying to get inside the bubble. 'And I have little time to decide.' I gritted my teeth. 'A decision that could cost one life or many.'
Taiki's POV
I glanced over at Mercury, seeing that she had enclosed herself in a bubble, Lekothea trying to get in with her shards of ice. I shot an attack to the specters and ran over, pushing Lekothea down.
"Get off me Shiroi tsuki no hoshi!" She snapped as a shard of her ice went for me. I dodged it and shot my attack, breaking it into pieces. I glared at her, pointing my star towards her as thunder stuck.
"How do you know the name of the Legendary Knight of the White Star?" She smirked. "Answer me!" I demanded. She began walking in a circle, making me do the same, my eyes firmly on her own.
"Kiiro no hoshi, Shiroi tsuki no hoshi, and Akai taiyō no hoshi, the original Starknights who held the three amulets of the shooting stars of Kimmoko. Their death on a strange land was sad, really, but in the end, it might have been better, seeing they broke the rule of never falling in love with those of another planet. They would have been killed either way, it was less cruel to be killed by the order of your princess, don't you think?" I ran forwards and shot my attack in pure rage as I kicked her.
"Don't you dare stain the name of the Starknights!" I growled. She laughed.
"I think what I said is an understatement. Especially when considering Kiiro no hoshi and his lover left behind the one who will become the guardian of the Forgotten Void." She said. That made me freeze. 'Danica...that girl...that girl is the daughter of Kiiro no hoshi?!' Lekothea laughed.
"That girl, and her limbo, came to life because of that kingdom's collapse, and it wasn't our doing. Ha! Everything forgotten has to go someone, doesn't it? You can't simply destroy it. It's the law of equivalent exchange. The true story behind all this, is within the Forgotten Void, but how can anyone remember something that you never lived for to see?!" She asked as she continued laughing with amusement. I felt my eye twitch and my hand clench on my star.
'I knew we had holes in our history, but to say that Kiiro no hoshi had a daughter and that the rule broken was the one of forbidden love. If this is true and the answers are all inside the Forgotten Void, then we need to get in there and get the remaining two amulets.'
"I like that face on you, but...why don't we improve it a bit-" Before she could continued, the bubble surrounding Mercury popped and the cyclones came forth towards us, Lekothea shifted their path upwards and snapped her fingers, the cyclones stopping in mid air.
"You really are an annoyance. Let me guess, you were trying to stall in order for your little incompetent brain could find a way to get my cyclones to stop following you? Well unless you yourself take control of them or I somehow decide to break the attack I'm afraid that you, Mercury, guardian of the Overworld water, are going to fall right here and now along with Shiroi tsuki no hoshi." She said as a shard came from her hand, pointed strait towards us.
"My name, is Sailor Star Maker, guardian of creation." I corrected her.
"Sure it is." She said and snapped her fingers, the cyclones slowly descending down. "Now, mind staying still, because I am getting bored of this cat and mouse game." She said as she once again snapped her fingers and moved both her hands violently towards my way and Mercury's. The cyclones let out a zip cry before zooming over towards us.
"Maker, get your attack ready, I have a plan." She said before we both started to run from the cyclones in opposite directions. I was going to question her, but it was not wise for me to ask right in front of Lekothea, who the one who we needed to defeat with this plan. Instead, I noticed that Mercury's cheek had frost bite.
"Whatever plan you say to have won't work on me, Little Droplet!" Lekothea said as she now summoned forth her ice. I jumped back to avoid getting one pinned through me, as did Mercury. The moment the cyclones made contact with the ice, they cut right though like it was butter, leaving behind a coat of frost on the ice. 'One of them must have slightly grazed Mercury, meaning that if they do get to us, we will be coated with the same lethal frost bite.' I thought as a specter tried to attack me but one shot and they were done.
"I told you not to-"
"I know!" I said as I jumped over the cyclone and jumped back before it changed its pathway.
"Tell me when you need me to shoot my attack." I said. She nodded. As we continued to dodge the attacks from both Lekothea and the specters, I took note that there was one cyclone that wasn't following us, the third one still hovering in the air. The instant I took note of it, Lekothea snapped her fingers once more and the third came zooming down at a greater speed than the other two, going strait towards Mercury. As I turned to warm her, her eyes clashed with mine as she pointed towards Lekothea. I knew exactly what she wanted. I quickly aimed towards Lekothea and shot my attack, it clashing with the cyclone coming down, for Mercury this whole time was moving slowly but steadily towards Lekothea, being right in front of her.
My attack the cyclone created a blinding light, especially close to Lekothea. She stepped back after the light subsided, the cyclone still being present but frozen in place. I jumped over the cyclone that was now behind me, this time the cyclone not changing trajectory but instead moving forwards down its path. I landed at the same time Mercury ran forwards and jumped over Lekothea go cease her in place.
"What the heck are you doing?!" Lekothea demanded.
"Maker, quick, help me!" Mercury said as I hurried over and held Lekothea, her struggles now being futile. We were behind her and the cyclones were still moving, moving towards us but with how we were in positions, it was going to me Lekothea who got the attack.
"Cover here eyes!" Mercury instructed as I nodded and did as told.
"Let me go!"
"We let you go when one, you give up and call off your cyclones or two, you feel your own attack in you and then call them off, forcing you to give up. Even you can't touch them because of their frost bite." Mercury said as the cyclones were two meters away. "Make a decision, quickly!" Mercury urged.
"You guys will die along side me."
"So what?" Mercury asked with a serious tone. Lekothea froze. "You cant change their trajectory, not when you can't see. You have five seconds to call them off before they touch you.

"Stop!" The cyclones barely touched her before they disappeared. Mercury nodded towards me and I let her go, along with her. Lekothea hugged herself, the frost bite starting to freeze her lower abdomen.
"It's over." Mercury said as she looked down to Lekothea. She growled and whistled, the specters letting a cry and now turning to attack us.
"I don't think so! You will fall by the hands of my specters of the drowned!" Unfortunately for her, a radiant golden light came to life and all the specters cried and then dissolved into a white spirit light, all seeming to let out a small voice of relief as they disappeared, going upwards to the sky. As the area was cleared, I saw that the source of the light was Venus herself, her eyes glowing a golden color as she moved her, the marking on the ground disappearing like the ink was burned away on paper.
Venus was slightly hovering over the ground, her heart brooch replaced by the Healer of Venus. I saw how Lekothea's eyes filled with fear and scooted back.
"No, no! You can't win! You can't! Not you! Never! I will never accept this! I will destroy the Yellow Rose of the Starlight Amulet belonging to Kiiro no hoshi if it is the last thing I do!!!!!" She yelled but before she could summon a cyclone, I pushed her down, her hand not being able to do the command she needed it to do.
"You will not destroy a relic of our planet!" I said with a glare. She struggled under me before she summoned a shard. I moved away from the shard as Fighter took my place and pinned her down again.
"Enough!!!!" She snapped as she pressed a pressure point, paralyzing her slightly. Venus landed slowly on the ground but then stumbled back, Healer catching her before she touched the ground and fainted. She scooped her up and carried her, taking her half back.
"Her energy was depleted. She needs rest but otherwise is good." She said. I noticed something else within her eyes, something that didn't sit well with me.
"H-"
"What should we do?" Sailor Moon asked before I could ask my question to my sister.
"We take her brooch, that way, she won't have her powers." Mercury said as she reached for Lekothea's brooch once Fighter pulled her up.
"No! No! If you take it away, I will cease to exist! Please!" She said desperately, fighting to get out of Fighter's grasp.
"What?" Mercury stopped on her tracks, eyes wide. I gave Lekothea a glance, seeing how she trembled ever so slightly as she looked at Mercury with a silent plea.
"She's telling the truth." I said.
"Yes, she is." Moonlight said as her senshi we're behind her. "A guardian of the underworld is bound to their brooch, for that is where their star seed is. If you were to take it, then you extinguish their life." She explained.
"Just like a star." Flora said.
"We can't do that." Jupiter said as she looked at Lekothea with sympathy. Sailor Moon nodded and walked forth.
"I won't order her to take away your brooch, or any of my senshi."
"The Starlights aren't yours."
"Maybe so, but even so, we won't take it away, we aren't like that anymore." Fighter said as she let her go. Sailor Moon the extended her hand.
"We won't hurt you. We can be friends and help you. I am sure we can come to an agreement if we just talk." She said, giving her an encouraging smile. Lekothea looked at her, being taken off guard by the proposition. Moonlight came forth and crouched down to be eye level with Lekothea.
"I along with my parents never accepted the rule." Lekothea's eyes widened.
"Forcing you to stay within the Underworld in a life of loneliness was never something I accepted. While I see the reason behind it, I also know that you never know where the evil will come from. One just can't decide and tag people evil before they even act. Everyone has a choice, and right now you have the option to restart. I can't promise you anything, but Sailor Moon can, right now. What you decide now, will affect not only your future, but ours as well. You want to change it right, well change it towards the right way, not through hurting innocents, because once hurting other who have no fault, you have already become the one person which you have fought to prove wrong."
Silence. This time it was Moonlight who extended her hand. "Come back to the light." Lekothea's eyes shone with tears before they came rolling down as she hugged herself.
"Sometimes you need to surrender to the current in order for you to get out." She said and then looked up to Sailor Moon and Moonlight, who had stood up from her crouching position. She reached for their hands but then she suddenly stopped midway, quickly gasping for air. I saw the senshi starting to panic.
"Lekothea?" Sailor Moon asked.
"You rally think you can get out without punishment? Guardian of the drowned." I heard a sudden voice say. I wasn't the only one though, for everyone looked around to find the source like I did but with no luck.
"Midnight-sans, I-"
"Good bye, Lekothea." In a blink of an eye, Lekothea was surrounded by black lightning, her scream echoing throughout the area. Her brooch broke because of the great surge of energy, our eyes going wide with horror as we saw her star seed come out and crack like it was glass. Lekothea fell back, Mercury catching her before she hit the ground.
"Lekothea!!!!" Sailor Moon cried out as she rushed over with Moonlight.
"No!" Moonlight said as she reached for the shards of the star seed, in a futile attempt to place it back together. Lekothea was gasping for air as her figure became transparent and small lights radiated from her. This sight was far too familiar, not only because I had witnessed it during the attack of Galaxia to my home planet, but also when the inner senshi sacrificed themselves to save us. Yet something in me told me I have seen this happen a third time, long ago, a time where everyone I cared for...died.
"Please, hold on." Mercury said, tears in her eyes. I felt an ache in my heart. 'Where have I seen this before?'
"Please, change the future for the better." Lekothea struggled out as she kept lacking air in her lungs.
"We will. But please, hang on, I'm sure that we can solve this." Moonlight said as she looked around, as if her surroundings could help.
"You can't. Once a star seed gets destroyed, there is no turning back from it. I'll be fine, don't worry." She coughed. "Midnight, the guardian of darkness, is the one behind all this." Our eyes went wide. "She, she wants the Celestial Shards of the past and future, but more importantly she wants the Star Talismans."
"What?!" Flora exclaimed.
"So that is the reason why you wanted to destroy the amulet." Irene murmured. 'What do the amulets have to do with these talismans?'
"She wants them in order to keep someone away. She's afraid of that guardian." She coughed again. "Get the last two talismans, those are your hope of everything else fails." She said.
"But there are no-"
"There are. You have to find them...quickly. Time is running out...the more time that passes by...the more in jeopardy you all are in. Please...protect everyone and win..." Those were her last words before she fell limp and disappeared completely. Sailor Moon and Mercury began crying, Mercury digging her hands into the moist ground. Sailor Moonlight had a shadow over her face as she turned, making me turn to find Mars, out of breath.
"What-"
"Lekothea left us..." Mercury said as she looked up. "Her star seed was destroyed...and she left." Her tears blended with the pouring water, her face wet and her cheeks flushed. "Please tell me that you saved at least one." Mars diverted her eyes.
"I...I clashed attacks with Ballona, but...it seemed like she had all the essences, for she disappeared into a black hole and...and I couldn't stop her." She said. The looks of devastation being a dagger into our hearts but the one that hurt more was of Mercury, at least for me. Moonlight stood up and turned to her senshi.
"Go and check." She ordered. They nodded and left quickly. She then walked over and placed a hand on Mercury's shoulder, extending her hand to show her the remaining shards of Lekothea's star seed.
"Keep this, not only will you have her remaining spirit with you but you will also have a small hope to bring her back." She said as she let the shards fall on Mercury's hands.
"Bring her back?" Sailor Moon asked as she dried her tears. Moonlight nodded.
"Does the rebirth of Saturn ring a bell?" She asked. Her eyes went wide. 'Rebirth?' "A senshi, can always come back, if one always has hope, there is always a chance for renewal." Flora came back.
"He's fine. Irene is currently helping him." She said.
"Who's fine?" I asked.
"Urawa. After what happened that day, we placed our eye on him, seeing he would most likely be the last holder they would try to reach since he is further away. We gave him something that would unable the Dark Sailors to track him." Moonlight explained. Mercury looked at her as she smiled. "So your friend is fine and they haven't won yet. Now that we know what they are searching for, we have more hopes of winning this war. So keep it close to your hearts, all of you. Until later. MF." She was gone and so was Flora.
The rain subsided and the clouds separated to let the sun shine, as if to tell us...there will always be sunlight after the storm.
