It didn't take the Lapointe family as long as they thought it would to unpack all of their belongings and get their house set up the way they wanted it, so the family's weekend camping trip to Eversgreen forest was way overdue.
They had their bags all packed and their tents loaded up in the Jeep along with everything else they needed, all they were waiting on was Maggie to run upstairs to her room to grab all of her photography equipment.
Maggie made it to her room to grab her already packed photography bag filled with her camera, all of her lenses, her tripod, her camera strap, and all the other things she needed.
The girl smiles and slings the bag over her back after attaching her camera strap to her camera, putting it around her neck before she exits her room and bounds down the stairs locking the door and joining her dad and twin brother in the Jeep.
"You got everything?" Walker asks the twins one more time before they left.
"Yep! I have everything I need and I can not wait to go camping and photograph the river." Maggie says happily, smiling at her dad.
"I have everything too, let's go! I missed going camping. We haven't really been since we were kids." Maverick says excitedly as Walker pulls out of the driveway.
"Alright, next destination is the Eversgreen forest." Walker says, a smile on his face as he started the drive towards the forest.
♕♛♕
The drive didn't take them very long before they were pulling into the perfect camping spot they could find, with the best view of the scenery.
"Okay before we start hiking we should set up the big tent and our sleeping bags so we don't have to later on tonight, it'll make it so much easier on us." Walker suggests to the twins.
"Sounds good dad, let's build a tent!" Maggie says before practically running to get the tent out of the Jeep.
Maverick and Walker follow suit, helping her get everything out of the Jeep before they start to build the tent, quickly getting it completely set up before they step back to admire their work.
"Good job guys, it didn't take us as long as I expected it to take us, now we just have to toss our supplies in and set up our sleeping bags and we can go hiking." Walker says before they open the tent flap.
After they do Maggie tosses her bags in before climbing in and setting up her sleeping bag and little corner in the tent plenty big enough for the three and then some.
Maverick does the same, quickly setting up his own sleeping bag and putting his things where he wanted them while Walker tosses out his sleeping bag and lays his other stuff on top of it.
"Okay who's ready to hike the beautiful Eversgreen forest and admire Sweetwater River." Walker says, grabbing his hiking pack.
"I know I'm going to get some great shots out here, it's so pretty." Maggie says happily, grabbing her hiking pack as well as her camera bag.
Maverick grabs his own hiking pack before the three exit the tent and zip it up, starting their hike towards the river as Maggie takes plenty of pictures on the way.
Once they arrive at Sweetwater River Maggie sets up her tripod to get good photos of the river and the forest surrounding it, "This is so beautiful."
"Do you know why it's called Sweetwater River?" Walker questions the twins, seeing if they've done any research on their new town.
"I have no idea, why is it called Sweetwater River?" Maverick asks him, watching as his twin takes photos of the rushing water.
"Because of maple syrup. Well, pretty much, the maple syrup industry is what helped build this town." Walker tells his twins.
"That's pretty cool to know, I never would have guessed." Maggie says as she snaps a few more pictures.
"Should we heard back to camp for the night now? It's starting to get dark and I am ready for s'mores around the campfire before bed." Maverick says, looking between his dad and sister.
"Oh my goodness, yes! I can't wait to eat s'mores, it's been so long." Maggie says happily.
"Sounds good, let's head back and set up the campfire then." Walker says as the three start their hike back to their campsite.
It's not long before they make it back to their little campsite, immediately gathering kindling for the campfire after arriving back at the site once they got enough kindling Walker ignites the fire for them.
Maggie grabs the marshmallows, graham crackers, Hershey's chocolate bars and paper plates from the tent before passing them around to everyone.
She shoves some marshmallows onto her stick before she pokes it into the fire, waiting until her marshmallows are so burnt they're completely black to pull them out of the fire and assemble her s'mores.
When they've all made their s'mores they take the first bite of them together, savoring how good they taste after not having any in a long time.
Maggie finishes her s'more, a quiet yawn escaping her lips before her yawn causes Maverick and their father to yawn as well, the three laughing after.
"We should head to bed kids, it's getting late. You two go ahead and I'll put out the fire then I'll be right in after I finish okay?" Walker says to the kids as he gets ready to put out the fire.
The twins crawl into the tent, getting comfy in their sleeping bags before closing their eyes, hearing Walker join them not long after he zips up the tent and climbs into his own sleeping bag, the three falling asleep not long after.
♕♛♕

It was around six in the morning on July Fourth when the twins and their father hear a loud gunshot ring out through the forest, waking them up from their slumber.
Shortly after they start hearing sirens and people talking and yelling so the twins and their father follow the sound, seeing police dragging Sweetwater River, with what looks to be most of the town crowded around.
The twins notice Jughead standing near a fence so they make their way over to him, Maggie curious as to why there was a red headed girl dressed in white soaking wet and crying.
"What happened here Jughead?" Maggie questions him quietly, not trying to bring attention to themselves.
"What are you all doing here?" Jughead questions back.
"We needed a weekend away, and I really wanted to photograph the forest and Sweetwater River. Did someone drown or something?" Maggie questions again, assessing the situation around them.
"That's what they think. Cheryl Blossom claims that her and her twin brother Jason Blossom went on a boat ride just after dawn and she dropped a glove into the water, Jason leaned down to pick it up and tipped the boat and panicked, drowning. The next thing they know for sure was that Dilton Doiley who was leading Riverdale's Boy Scout Troop on a bird watching expedition came across Cheryl on the river's edge calling out Jason's name. Now they're trying to drag the river for Jason's body." Jughead finally answers the girl's questions.
"Woah... That's terrible. I couldn't imagine losing my twin." Maggie says, glancing over at her brother before watching the Blossom family staring at the rushing waters of Sweetwater River.
♕♛♕
In the following week the police continued to drag Sweetwater River for Jason Blossom's body, not being able to find it anywhere in the rushing waters of the river.
So a week later the Blossom family buried an empty casket, and Jason Blossom's death was ruled an accident, as the story Cheryl told about Jason drowning made the rounds around town.
As for the Lapointe twins and their father, they were still talking about the July Fourth tragedy on the last day of summer vacation, wondering just what did happen to Jason Blossom on the morning of the Fourth.
And why in the early morning on July Fourth did the family hear a gunshot?
♕♛♕
Poor Jason.
I actually feel bad that he
couldn't get away from his
shitty family and start
over with Polly.
But I am so excited to get
this story rolling with the
twins starting school
next chapter!
And they get to meet Betty,
Veronica and Kevin!!
I can't wait to get all my ideas
for the story out for you all to
read, I hope you're enjoying
it so far there is plenty
more to come!
