john POV

    I woke up to the sound of whimpering. I sat upright and looked to my right at Alex's bed. He was curled up in a ball and was slowly rocking back and forth.
    "Stop! Please mom, stop! No! We need to go!, he murmured feverishly. I immediately got out of bed and approached his bed tentatively.
    "Alex are you okay?", I asked.
    "No! Stop! The floods! Mom we have to go! Mom! Please!", Alex shouted his voice gradually getting louder until he screamed.
    "Alex!", I exclaimed as I wrapped my arms around him. I held him tight. "Shh it's ok, it's ok. You're ok. I'm here, I'm here." I rubbed my arms up and down his shivering back. Little by little I felt his clenched up body relax. He let out a shuddering breath as his arms clutched my waist. "John." he breaths.
    "That's right I'm here, I won't let them hurt you.", I whispered as he pulls me closer towards him. We stayed like that for a bit, feeling safe in each other's grasp. His breathing eventually began to even out. I looked at his tired eyes as he dosed off. I made to leave the bed, but I felt his arm grab mine.
    "Please. Stay.", he whispered his dark brown eyes pleading with mine.
    "Ok."
