Epilogue

Happily ever after.

Marinette smiled at the thought. It was what every little girl dreamed to have, it was what every little girl and boy deserved to have.

She's imagined hundreds of different scenarios of Adrien surviving the forbidden art, each one ending in a happily ever after. They'd escape, arrest Proitille Velenoso, and then get married and so on. Unfortunately for her, that wasn't the case.

Adrien was the black cat for a reason. Not even he could survive the forbidden art, even if he was the best Chat Noir the ring had ever chosen, he wasn't strong enough to survive the deadly magic. His body was the bomb and he knew it. She could tell by the look in his startling green eyes as he watched her from afar as he continued to be tackled by Erich's men. He looked at her like he was memorizing every detail of her face, eyes peaceful as he accepted his defeat. He knew what would happen as soon as he called on the second Cataclysm and yet he did it anyway.

The memory of him fading away, his flesh disappearing into the black bubbles was still fresh, imprinted on the back of her eyelids.

He was dying and yet he still had the audacity to grin at her before completely being consumed by the dark magic. And that was the last she ever saw of him. The Cataclysm had disappeared for a split second, leaving everything quiet before a huge explosion happened, destroying everything in it's wake, turning the gang members into dust.

The force of the explosion had knocked Marinette and Erich back, both hitting their head against the wall before blacking out.

Marinette smirked, despite the situation she was currently in. She was on her knees, hands tied behind her back with a barrel of a gun pressed against her temple. Erich towered above her, a makeshift prosthetic leg helping him stand up. After the second Cataclysm, his entire leg had decayed, and half his face was morphed into what looked like black burns, a few silver streaks over the raised areas. Marinette on the other hand had been completely unharmed, slide from the stab wound Erich had given her.

It warmed her heart that Adrien loved her so much that he was able to contain the forbidden art to keep her safe. It made her think that he was the embodiment of the second Cataclysm.

"What are you smiling about brat? Don't you get that you're going to die? That the other brat's death was meaningless and so will yours?" Erich sneered, pressing the cold gun harder into her skin, but her smirk never left her face as she glared at him.

"Meaningless? It gave Plagg enough time to escape with the ring," the memory of Plagg's face hurt as she told him to go before Erich woke up, knowing she wouldnt make it far with her wound, the tears the usually sarcastic god held in his eyes as he did as he was told. "And enough time for Marie to escape with Tikki and the earrings. His death wasn't meaningless." Marinette scoffed.

Her smirk grew as she continued, her glare intensifying. "And you left Alya in the car we crashed. That was stupid. I bet you that in a few hours cops will be breaking in here and arresting all of your ugly asses," she laughed without humor as she continued.

"Underestimating Alya was your grave mistake. She's going to be a reporter, and she has her sources."

"She'll be too late to save you." Erich spat.

"That doesn't matter, as long as you and the rest of your stupid gang can't kill more people, I don't care what happens to me. Tikki and Plagg will find a new Ladybug and Chat Noir for us, and you'll be rotting in jail."

Erich's face contorted into a scowl. "You've run out of luck, bitch."

Happily ever after existed, Marinette was certain.

The gun clicked as it cocked into place.

She'd just have to wait a bit longer for hers.

The sound of a shot rang through out the room.

Because anywhere with Adrien is happily ever after to her.

Now that's the end! Bet a lot of ya are pissed that I killed both Adrien and Marinette off but I felt like its too typical that Adrien would be the Chat Noir to survive the forbidden art. I've been planning on killing them since the beginning so this was going to happen either way.

Anyways, it just didn't seem right to have him live through it. That's how stories always end, the hero doing the impossible. They can't always do that guys. So I wanted to make this more realistic.

I'm sorry!

Until next time, peace!
