~Chapter 22~

(Emily's Point of View)

We left Paris, France at exactly three pm on Friday, much to my distaste but Nate promised that one day we could take a trip back. I never even got the chance to see the Eiffel tower up close, which was something I would use as leverage for many more arguments that would come in our life. Nate and I sat in the private room in the very back where a bedroom was, he explained that the plane had originally been his Uncle's.

The door closed behind me with a soft click as I looked around the dark room, Nate leaned back on the bed frame watching me closely. I knew we needed to talk more, after all even if we had finally confessed our love to each other our history was a never-ending ocean.

Nate licked his lips before opening his mouth to speak, "So, You know I'm-"

"Allen." I interrupted him while my eyes tried to adjust to the dark lighting around us, slowly a better picture began to form. I glanced around seeing the nightstand beside the bed, along with a dresser and another door leading to a bathroom. It was all fairly bare, the sheets and walls all were dark neutral colors.

"How did you..." He trailed off and our eyes met once more, his blue orbs vulnerable to my emeralds. I pushed off of the door with my hands taking a step towards him.

"I heard you that morning, when you thought I was asleep." I chose my words carefully watching his face move from confusion to shock. I knew that he would be dumfounded by this information- I blinked back my shock as his laughter echoed throughout the room.

"What's so funny?" The words came out rapidly before I could stop them, my feet moved several steps forward on their own accord.

"I should expect this from you, I mean you always had impeccable timing." He smiled softly at me prompting my feet to move closer to that brilliant smile. In a world of darkness his smile brought light into the room.

"Except when I'm dancing." He rose from his position with a laugh that crinkled his eyes, he picked up a piece of my hair and placed a kiss on it.

"Luckily for you I'm an excellent dancer." He slide his hands down to my waist slowly swaying us to a silent beat on an invisible dance floor. We had danced in between reality and fantasy so many times before. It just came to us naturally to find this space that left us alone in the world, only with each other's presence to keep us warm.

"In college did you know?" His eyes bore into mine while we swayed around the small room, the air buzzing between us.

"No, I had no idea." I responded pausing slightly before I spoke my next words, "That's why it hurt so much when you left. I never got the chance to tell you that I..." I trailed off tears threatening to spill from my eyes, I coughed slightly trying to force them back.

"Hey, I'm right here." He tilted my head up with his thumb before brushing away the tears that were about to spill down.

"I read your journal entries when I was trying to find you." I blurted out trying to find something else to focus on. His chuckles vibrated against my chest as I quickly looked down, I felt ridiculous just like a school girl.

"So then you know my dreams, my hopes, my aspirations?" He asked his face soft as he continued to twirl us around in front of the bed.

"I didn't read all of them." I responded sheepishly secretly wishing that I had read all of them before giving him his phone back. He stopped swaying and broke from me his face in a deep grin, his hands took both sides of my face warming me up.

"Let me tell you then Emily Montgomery." He paused before giving me the largest grin I had ever seen on his face.

"I want to marry you."

"I want to raise a family with you."

"I want to give you everything a normal person has because darling you deserve some simplicity in your life."

"I want to spend an eternity watching you dance around the room, even if you trip more than you dance."

"I want more than a lifetime with you, I want a forever."

Tears welled up in my eyes at his words and my heart pounded violently against my chest, "Is that a proposal Nate?" I smirked at him biting my lower lip slightly watching him closely.

"Its a promise Fenice." His voice held much conviction as he brought me back into his arms and into a toe curling heart melting kiss. I kissed him back with just as much conviction pouring into him all my hopes to. My hands went into his hair tightening my grip on him, he was real and this time I wasn't letting him go.

"If you two don't get yourselves out here right now then I'm gonna come in and ruin your moment!" I heard my brother's voice from outside of the room. He was teasing me to the highest extent, he knew already what was going on behind this door. Half of my mind told me to lock the door and never leave this room.

The other half told me that Michael would only face my wrath if it was important, like if Dai was finally sober. With one final peck to Nate's lips we separated however before going through the door I stopped. I needed to ask him one more question.

"What do I call you now, Allen or Nate?" I asked my eyebrows coming together in confusion, he simply shrugged in response, "Whatever your heart desires, Love."

We walked back into the main area of the plane, Dai was sitting up handcuffed to the seat he occupied. My parents were sitting side by side with their hands laced together, my mother's face brightened at the sight of me.

Dai's face was hidden by his hair as he focused on the ground below with his hands folded in his lap. His body shook with silent sobs, small droplets of water pelting the hands that were clenched together.

"Dai?" I questioned with a voice filled with anger and confusion, I needed to know why the man I had known since Kindergarten had betrayed not only me but my by entire family .

"Emily?" His eyes looked up towards me showing truly how broken this man was in front of us. He pulled against his bonds trying to get to me, but Nate stood beside me ready to pounce if he broke free. I turned and placed my hand on his chest assuring him I didn't need protecting from my broken friend.

"Explain, you have two minutes." I gritted out a growl rising in my throat as my anger grew inside of my body.

"I didn't have a choice!" He screeched out only for my brother to interrupt him, "You always have a choice."

"My little brother is gay, and you know how families can feel about that Emily." His words shocked me to the very bone, I hadn't known much about his little brother. He had been born when we were almost teenagers and I had only met him a handful of times. He was right though I knew how hard our society was on things they didn't agree with.

"That doesn't explain why your involved with us." My father spoke with a firm tone and for a moment you could see how he was raised. Sebastian had been his brother, a fact that I had almost forgotten, and he was raised to be a business man to.

"Your Grandfather needed a Judah, a person in your group to betray you."

"And you volunteered?" Nate tried to step forward, his voice snapping at our old friend. I grasped his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze, he stood still but remained on the offensive.

"No, my father wanted shares in your company and in exchange I was volunteered by him."

"You couldn't refuse unless you wanted your little brother to be removed from the family line ." I understood why Dai got on this path, because it wasn't something he truly wanted to do. That little boy from kindergarten was always there inside of him, the little boy all alone. He never would have wanted his brother to be truly alone like he was.

"I'm sorry Emily, I didn't want to choose but I-" I leaned down effectively stopping his words as I brought him into a hug. He whimpered and shook underneath my grasp, his tears wetting my winter jacket.

"It's ok Dai." I put my hand on his back closing my eyes trying to soothe his panic, I could almost hear the steam coming from Nate and Michael's ears. I focused on my friend knowing fully well that this interaction would only leave more conversations between Nate and I.

"How could you think that-" I looked up to see that our Mother was shooting Mich an intimidating glare effectively shutting him up for the time being.

"Dai wouldn't hurt me intentionally." I responded getting up and taking the key from him, he attempted once more to protest but Mum continued to give him a look.

I leaned back down meeting Dai's eyes as I uncuffed his hands, he slowly unfolded them rubbing the soreness away. More tears sprinkled his eyes but this time they were filled with gratitude, I smile reassuringly before taking my place next to Nate.

"You'll stay in our custody, but I doubt you'll need these cuffs anymore." I flashed him my own glare that mimicked my mother's in everyway. He stiffened slightly nodded in confirmation, satisfied I pulled out my phone.

This entire trip I never texted Lizzie once to check on my little babies, I found multiple texts from just about everyone I knew. Lizzie had sent multiple messages checking up on us and sending pics of the dogs. Sierra sent many mad emojis everyday since I hadn't sent her any photos of Paris. I also had one from Harris, the only relief being that none were from my parents.

'I hope your having a good time, the dogs miss you though.' ~Liz
'Are you ok I haven't heard from you in a day, just checking in.' ~Liz 'Um, I'm kind of worried now I hope you'll text me back soon. Unless this is your subtle way of saying you and boss are... I'll stop bothering you!' ~Liz

'Send Pics!' ~SM

'Hi Emily, I know that you probably don't ever want to talk to me again but I think your parents are plotting something. Text me when you get back into town, we need to talk.' ~H

Nate took the phone out of my hands with a smile clicking his tongue, "Don't be such a workaholic Fenice."

I jumped trying to get the phone but gave up when he passed it over to Michael. I sat back down with a huff trying to hid the smile that was sneaking onto my face. While that was utterly adorable it was also highly unnecessary.

"I have one question though dear." My banter with Nate was put on hold at the sound of my mum's voice.

"What is it?" I inquired not sure where this conversation was going, she only would ask something if it was important and relevant to the task at hand.

"Did you find the drawer?" A genuine smile made its way onto my face as I realized what she was asking me about. My smile was answer enough for her as a similar one made its way onto her face, for a second it felt like I was staring into a mirror.

"What was in the drawer?" I turned towards Nate happiness overtaking me as I grabbed his collar and pulled his lips to mine. Electricity sparked from my lips into his shock overtaking him from my sudden movements. I parted our lips looking into his confused blue orbs that were watching me with amazement.

"It's our freedom Nate."
