"tyler! jenna called and she's in labor, we have to go NOW!" twenty eight year old josh practically screamed across their house.

"what?! oh, shit!" tyler was practically slipping as he ran to shove his shoes on.

"do you have the keys?!"

"you came out first, shouldn't you?!" tyler yelled out the front door just before closing it.

"well, i dont! go get them." josh yelled back from the middle of their lawn.

tyler ran back in and grabbed the set of keys from the kitchen counter. he immediately ran back out, slamming the front door behind him. they both jumped into the car and sped towards the hospital. the twenty minute car ride consisted of crying, yelling at each other and basically freaking out.

they had met jenna two years prior. the three had become close very fast and jenna didn't even hesitate to agree to be their surrogate. she was jumping with joy and happiness at the question.

tyler and josh bursted through the doors of the hospital to the front counter. a very familiar female sat at behind the desk with her head down.

"hi, where's jenna blacks room? we're the baby's fathers." tyler gripped the counter in front of him while josh stood behind chewing his nails.

"she is room.." she was glancing down a list. "twenty one. down this hall to the- hey wait, you guys look familiar?"

josh looked up at her and immediately remembered. "oh crap, were you the nurse who bandaged my arm like ten years ago?"

"oh my god, yes! how are you doing?"

"i'm doing great, thanks for asking. a lot better since-"

"josh! our baby is being birthed as we speak! you can talk later!" tyler intervened.

"oh yeah sorry. i'll talk to you later!" tyler grabbed joshs hand and began pulling him down the hallway where the delivery rooms are.

"good luck!" the nurse called to them.

they ran into the room to see a very panicked jenna on the bed with a doctor yelling for her to push in front.

"where the FUCK have you two been!" jenna screeched as the men rushed to each side of her. they both held one of her hands that she was taking the blood circulation out of. "jenna. my hand." tyler groaned.

"do YOU really think you're in more pain than me right now?!" she turned to look at him and tyler is about 90% sure he saw fire in her eyes.

"jenna, PUSH! you're almost there!" the doctor yelled out.

after a few long minutes they all finally heard the sound of a baby crying.

"it's a girl!" the doctor happily announced. josh and tyler gave each other a smile as they walked over to see her. they both became teary eyed. "who would to cut the umbilical chord?" josh nodded towards tyler to take the honor.

after cleaning the baby up and wrapping her in a blanket, she was returned to the room in a bassinet by nurse debby. "she's perfectly healthy. what were you thinking for her name?" jenna had fallen asleep very soon after finishing and they signaled for debby to lower her voice, since she'd just been through a lot.

tyler and josh held each others hand and looked down at the baby. "can we hold her?" "of course, it's your kid." debby chucked.

tyler slowly and gently picked her up. she made a small whine and fluttered her eyes open to her parents. "she's beautiful." josh voice cracked.

they held her for a minute before looking at each other and nodding. "her name's ruby."
