Epilogue
Anakin woke slowly, his eyes fluttering open to look upon a blank white ceiling, the muffled sound of a vital monitor beeping beside him. With a confused groan, he forced himself to wake faster and gently turned his head to the side to see a machine beeping with each beat of his heart. A wire was attached to it that traveled down to his flesh arm along with an IV line hooked in to give him necessary fluids.
A medcenter obviously...one he recognized as the one in the Jedi Temple. He had been in here many times from his youth as a Padawan all the way up until his Knight years. And usually there was one person waiting right beside him...
He turned his head to the other side to confirm his suspicions. A small smile dusted his lips as he saw his old Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, his head pillowed in his arm as he sat in a chair snoring, his eyes fluttering and his mouth partly opened. He must've been in the room a while if he had fallen asleep in a chair. Anakin knew how grumpy Obi-Wan could get and laughed lightly at the thought of him waking up with his bedraggled ginger hair and beard.
A pang of memories suddenly hit him and he remembered his whole time-traveling adventure. Obi-Wan had been dead, he had gone to the dark side, and Luke had...
He sat bolt up right, his vital monitor suddenly beeping dangerously. The commotion startled the sleeping Jedi Master beside him and gray-blue eyes shot open in clouded confusion. "Anakin?" A faint mutter with a familiar Coruscanti accent asked.
Anakin sent terrified blue eyes around the room, causing Obi-Wan to realize that his old Padawan was truly distressed. He stood up from his chair and ignored the dizziness that came with standing up too fast. He pressed a hand to Anakin's shoulder and gently pushed him back down, frowning in concern.
"Anakin, you shouldn't press yourself. You went through quite a lot in the past few hours." Obi-Wan explained, remembering his horror when he had returned from Utapau only to hear that Anakin had killed Chancellor Palpatine, who was apparently Darth Sidious, and had been ushered to medbay after he passed out randomly. Master Windu had also mentioned Anakin saying something about a son right after he killed the Sith, but he couldn't be sure. And as if that wasn't enough, Senator Amidala had soon after been dispatched to the nearest medcenter on Coruscant for her water breaking. The doctors and nurses had instantly contacted the Jedi temple when they figured out who the father was. Padmé still had yet to give birth, but it was still a bit of a shock. Obi-Wan had always known their was something between Padmé and Anakin, but never had he expected them to have an actual child.
"You're telling me." Anakin muttered in response, shaking Obi-Wan out of his reverie. "You will not believe what I just went through, Master."
"Oh?" Obi-Wan raised an eyebrow. "I've heard quite enough, young one. Killing a Sith? Your wife giving birth, perhaps?"
Anakin blinked at the mention of Padmé and smiled sheepishly. Then the words settled further in his mind. "Birth!? She's giving birth now!?"
"Um...not now, per se, but—"
Anakin instantly began to clamber out of the bed only to be pushed back by Obi-Wan. "Anakin, you just woke up. You can't strain yourself like this. The drugs in your system might be making you act a little irrational—"
"I have to see her, Obi-Wan. You don't understand. There was Jabba, and then Luke and Leia, and apparently she's dating a Corellian—a Corellian, can you believe it—and then Vader was me and there was ghost you, but you were old, and Master Yoda lived in a swamp but he died too, but then we were captured by weird teddy bear things, and I couldn't protect Luke, and Sidious lightning, and stabbing with lightsabers, but then Padmé died and it was my fault, and I fought you, not old you but you you and I just, I have to see them, all of them, even the Corellian I suppose, and—"
"Anakin." Obi-Wan cut off the young man, his eyes perplexed and worried. "What are you talking about?"
"I time-traveled." Anakin said simply, out of breath. "My kids are very interesting. Twins apparently. So, if I don't see Padmé then everything I accomplished could fail, don't you see? What if the birth goes wrong? I can't lose them again, not Luke, Leia, nor Padmé. Understand now?"
Obi-Wan's eyes were wide and he looked extremely concerned. "Maybe I should contact one of the healers..."
Anakin groaned and ripped out his IV line with barely a wince, clambering out of bed despite Obi-Wan's protests. He marched through the medbay hall, not even caring that he was only wearing a med-gown.
Several healers watched him leave with surprise, some scrambling to follow him as he made it all the way to the docking bay and into a speeder. "ANAKIN!" Obi-Wan shouted after him with several healers and a few Jedi behind him. But they could do nothing as Anakin's speeder took off into the air and darted away towards the Coruscant medcenter. A groan left the older Jedi and he rubbed his temples.
"Should we follow him, Master?" One of the younger healers asked. Obi-Wan shook his head with a small chuckle.
"No, it's alright. He'll be back soon."

Several doctors and nurses tried their best to stop the Jedi demanding into one of their rooms, but failed miserably as he pushed past them all. However, Anakin met his match with a very angry doctor guarding the door to Padmé's room. "Sir, family only. You cannot simply barge in here—"
"She's my wife. The babies are my children."
The doctor paused, blinking in sudden shock. "Anakin Skywalker? I-I apologize, I did not recognize you. You look so pale—"
"Just let me in." Anakin scowled, pushing past the stunned man and into the room.
One of the nurses bit her lip and walked up to the confused doctor, a datapad pressed against her chest in a last-second attempt to protect herself from Anakin's onslaught. "S-Sir...how did he know about the twins? We didn't notify anyone but the wife about that yet."
The doctor sighed. "I'm not sure. Let's just give him a moment. There's a few droids stationed in there in case she goes into labor anytime soon."
The nurse nodded and walked off with the doctor by her side.
Anakin, now inside the room, was surprised to see Senator Bail Organa and Master Yoda both waiting outside the delivery area. They both looked up when Anakin entered, Bail's eyes widening at Anakin's state of dress, and Yoda's eyes crinkling in amusement.
Anakin blushed lightly and thanked Bail when he offered him his coat. "Master Skywalker. I assume you are feeling better?" Bail asked with a raised eyebrow.
Anakin blushed even deeper and looked down at Master Yoda, a person he had never been more relieved to see...well maybe one other time when he fought Dooku for the first time as a Padawan and lost his arm. "Master Yoda." He bowed lightly and cringed when he suddenly realized that the Jedi now knew about him and Padmé. "Um...Master, I can explain—"
Yoda raised a calm hand, smiling kindly at the young man. "An explanation, I do not need. Saved the Jedi you did. Honored you shall be. Stay a Jedi you can."
A shocked smile spread across Anakin's face and he instantly thanked the small Master, flabbergasted and elated at the same time.
Bail smiled as well, placing a hand on Anakin's shoulder. "Congratulations Anakin. On both your removal of the Sith Lord and the birth of your child."
"Children. And thank you, Senator Organa." Anakin thought back to what ghost Obi-Wan said about Leia's childhood and smiled lightly. "Senator...have you ever thought of adopting?"
Bail blinked at both statements. Confused about the fact that Anakin was assuming that Padmé was having two children and the fact that he knew about his and Breha's plans to adopt a child. "I...uh..."
"Ah, never mind. Am I allowed to see Padmé? I must see her." Anakin interrupted.
Yoda raised a small eyebrow at Anakin's words and actions. He had definitely had a change in mood as opposed to how he had been acting recently. The grand Jedi Master quickly scanned the man's Force signature and blinked in surprise. His signature was almost painted...something he had never seen before. Coated in memories he should not have...times that should not exist, yet had been experienced by Anakin himself.
'The Force works in mysterious ways...'
Rumors of time-travel being possible through the Force were rare...but if Anakin had experienced it...perhaps Qui-Gon hadn't been mistaken about the boy's destiny. He had killed the Sith Lord after all.
"Allowed to see her you are." Yoda said simply, watching as Anakin grinned and darted into the delivery room, his body instantly at Padmé's side. He smiled down at her and stroked her brown curls, willing her to open her eyes from her small rest.
Chocolate irises fluttered open and Anakin suddenly gasped as he saw Leia once again. The thought made him smile and he instantly leaned down to kiss his wife. Padmé made a small noise of surprise yet smiled against his lips, lavishing in his love.
When they finally pulled apart, she smiled brightly. "Ani..."
"Angel..." Anakin responded, a small sob leaving him at the beauty that was the love of his life. "I missed you so much."
"Oh, Anakin." Tears welled up in her eyes. "They told me you had confronted Palpatine and that you were in the medbay...I feared the worst..."
"I'm not going anywhere Padmé, not ever again." Anakin said firmly, his blue eyes serious.
Padmé smiled at that right before she cried out, her hand flying to her abdomen. Anakin instantly went into protective mode, but she waved him off. "It's just another contraction. Seems our twins just want to keep me waiting." She suddenly gasped at her words. "Oh, I'm sorry, I was going to surprise you."
Anakin laughed. "No, it's fine dear. I already knew."
Padmé blinked. "You did? How? They only told me—"
"I'll explain it later." Anakin promised, pressing another kiss to his wife's temple. Padmé blushed right before another powerful contraction hit her, a tight scream leaving her as she gritted her teeth in pain. More pain assaulted her and she suddenly gasped, screaming louder and louder as she grasped for Anakin's hand, her death grip unbreakable.
The med-droids in the room reacted instantly, contacting several nurses and doctors as they quickly moved to assist the woman about to give birth. Anakin paled and took a deep breath. "Alright Padmé, just breathe."
"I'll try." Padmé gritted, trying to fight the pain gripping her. Another scream tore from her throat just as the doctors and nurses burst in, yelling medical jargon at each other.
It took a few hours of screams and yelling of the word, "Push!" right before the first baby appeared, its own cry echoing into the room and causing Anakin's breath to catch in his throat.
"It's a boy." One of the doctors stated, quickly wrapping the squealing newborn in a blanket and handing him to his father.
"Luke." Anakin and Padmé breathed at the same time, making some of the doctors and nurses smile.
"Luke Skywalker." Anakin whispered again, adding the last name to convince his mind that it was real. The boy stopped crying at the sound of his new name and blinked large, azure eyes up at his father. He looked so very confused, being new to the world and all, but Anakin knew it was the same boy he had almost given a concussion when he first time-traveled onto Tatooine.
'I won't let anything happen to you this time. I swear on my life.' Anakin sent mentally, knowing his untrained son wouldn't hear it, but the toothless grin expanded all the same. Chubby hands reached up for him and the infant cooed, instantly falling in love with his father.
Padmé let loose another scream just as the second child came with an equally loud wail, almost twice as loud as its brother. Anakin smiled at that, already knowing the gender as one of the doctor's wrapped the baby up and handed it to Padmé with a smile. "It's a girl. Two very healthy baby twins."
"Thank you doctor." Padmé breathed, exhausted with the effort of delivering her children but smiling all the same at her son and daughter. "Her name is Leia." Brown eyes blinked open on Leia's face and she studied the scene with equal curiosity to her brother, her crying also ceased.
Love radiated through the Force as the Skywalker family was finally complete.

5 years later...
"Daddy!" Two shrill voices screamed down the hall, making Anakin chuckle lightly. He shared a look with his wife across the table, who also smirked.
The five-year old twins came sprinting into the room, both of them instantly on top of their parents with squeals of, "Luke hit me!"
"I did not!"
"You did too! And you pulled my hair!"
"You broke my toy starfighter!"
"It was an accident!"
"Jedi don't have accidents!"
"They do too, nerfherder!"
"Mommy, Daddy, Leia called me a name!"
"I did not!"
"You did too!"
"Luke! Leia! Both of you, calm down now." Anakin said as firmly as he could without laughing.
The twins silenced instantly, both of them still pouting and glaring at each other as their parents looked down at them. Anakin looked at Padmé and allowed her to speak first. She chuckled and looked down at the two sets of eyes, one dark brown and one bright blue.
"Me and your father are going out tonight, but we obviously can't leave you two alone, so we got you a babysitter."
Complaints instantly left both of the twins' mouths, their arguing with each other flailing up soon after. Padmé and Anakin shared another exasperated look just as a knock came at the door.
Anakin moved to answer it and laughed as both Luke and Leia shut up once again and trailed their eyes after him in curiosity. Once the door release was pressed, a nervous looking 15-year old jerked up in surprise, his hazel eyes wide. "Um...is this the Skywalker residence?"
Anakin smiled at the boy, knowing he must've been terrified and awestruck walking through the Jedi Temple alone just so he could get to his babysitting job his Wookiee guardian had convinced him to do after long conversations and a few good bribes.
"Come on in, Han." Anakin said, a small smirk coming over him as the boy nodded and walked in, nodding politely at Padmé. Both Luke and Leia studied the older boy with wide eyes, something in their eyes shifting as if they somehow already knew this boy.
Padmé smiled and grabbed her cardigan from the chair, throwing it on and locking arms with her husband. "Is 20 credits an hour alright, dear?"
Han looked up at Padmé and smiled lightly. "That will be fine ma'am."
"Such manners." Anakin said with a smirk, getting a jab in the ribs from his wife in return. But Anakin couldn't help himself. After meeting the sarcastic man that was Han Solo in the future, meeting him as a boy and then making him his babysitter for his children was quite the coincidence. Force, him and Leia might even end up dating each other again...which would not happen...at least not under his watch.
"Alright. Well, behave. Both of you. Han's in charge until we get back." Padmé said.
"Yes, Mother." The twins said in unison, still staring at Han oddly and making him shift awkwardly.
Anakin and Padmé shared one last smile before nodding to the teenager and leaving the apartment. Once the door slid shut behind them, they heard the twins instantly barrage Han with questions, their excitement level high.
Padmé chuckled, biting her lip to hold back her laughter. "Let's go before the poor boy changes his mind."
"I agree." Anakin said, laughing as well.
"They make quite the trio, don't they?" Padmé asked innocently as they approached the speeder, making Anakin pause before he opened the side door, his memories caught in a time that never existed. Three good friends smiling in relief as they were finally reunited...then two mourning ones as both brown and hazel reflected the flames of a funeral pyre... "Anakin?"
Anakin looked up at his wife and smiled. "Yes. I have a feeling they'll get along just fine."
Padmé clambered into the speeder beside him, smiling at his words. "You know...if I didn't know better...I'd say the twins looked rather...I don't know...happy?"
Anakin burst into laughter.
As the couple sped away into the Coruscanti traffic, Anakin couldn't help but feel a lightness overcome him. He embraced the Force and reached around for both his twins' Force signature's. They radiated brightly and he grinned.
Life couldn't be better.
And even though the future he had witnessed would never exist...he would always remember his son's sacrifice for the galaxy...a galaxy the Force had wanted all along...
