Chapter 19
Han, Leia, Chewbacca, the droids, Wicket, and another Ewok scout named Paploo were hidden and peeking over a ridge that overlooked the massive Imperial shield generator, a landing platform at its base.
Leia, her mind trying to stay focused on her mission and not her brother and father being flown up to the Death Star as prisoners, studied the installation. She turned to her companions, ever the leader. "The main entrance to the control bunker's on the far side of that landing platform. This isn't gonna be easy."
Han turned to her with a light smile, his mind on Luke and Anakin as well, but the knowledge of Anakin's identity or Luke and Leia's relation not yet in his mind. Leia decided to wait on those little bits of information, deciding to tell her friend of it when their mission was over. Besides, it wasn't only her secret to tell.
"Hey, don't worry. Chewie and me got into a lot of places more heavily guarded than this." Han said confidently. Leia chuckled lightly until she noticed Wicket and Paploo discussing rapidly in their native language. Both her and Han turned to Threepio, who gladly translated for them.
"He says there's a secret entrance on the other side of the ridge." The protocol droid said, causing Han and Leia to share a look and come up with a plan.

Meanwhile, in space, the rebel fleet was preparing their jump to hyperspace, all set for the plot against the Second Death Star. The giant Mon Calamari cruiser sat in the front of the fleet, but the Millennium Falcon soon roared up behind it, tiny in comparison but leading nonetheless.
Inside the beloved Corellian freighter, Lando Calrissian sat at the pilot seat while his Sullustan co-pilot, Nien Nunb, sat beside him, inspecting the unfamiliar controls of the ship. While he did that, Lando leaned into his commlink to speak to Ackbar inside the large starship.
"Admiral, we're in position. All fighters accounted for." Lando said.
"Proceed with the countdown. All groups assume attack coordinates." the Admiral stated into the comm.
Lando sighed and then turned to his obviously nervous partner. "Don't worry, my friends are down there. They'll have that shield down on time..." his words faded and he tightened his hands on the controls, now whispering to himself. "...or this'll be the shortest offensive of all time."
Nien sighed and grunted a comment in his native language, flicking switches in front of him and setting the coordinates into the navicomputer.
"All crafts, prepare to jump to hyperspace on my mark." Ackbar's voice came over the main commlink again.
"Alright. Stand by." Lando set, double-checking the coordinates and then slowly pulling back the lever for lightspeed. The stars quickly streaked into star lines, and one by one, each ship shot its way into the lulling, mystic blue light of hyperspace.

Han, Leia, Chewie, the droids, and their two Ewok guides met back up with the strike squad, quickly explaining their idea. The entire group was spread out amongst the dense underbrush, looking down at the bunker that led to the generator. There was a total of four imperial scouts guarding the doors, their speeder bikes parked nearby for a quick getaway. Chewie growled low in observation and Paploo tugged on Han's sleeve, pointing something out.
Han followed the Ewok's stubby finger and smirked lightly, impressed with the little guy. "Back door, huh? Good idea."
Paploo nodded pridefully and turned back to continue discussing with Wicket. Han sighed and turned to Leia, her brown eyes focused intensely on the guards, trying to figure out a way to incapacitate them. "It's only a few guards." Han said, cutting off her train of thought. "This shouldn't be too much trouble."
Leia turned to him, her eyes troubled. "Well, it only takes one to sound the alarm."
Han smiled confidently, making the princess roll her eyes. "Then we'll do it real quiet-like."
Threepio, realizing that Wicket and Paploo were struggling to keep up with the Basic that Han and Leia were speaking, quickly translated for the small creatures. Both of them chattered quickly as they got the information, and it wasn't soon after that Paploo rose with a cry of determination and scampered away and toward the bunker.
Wicket tried to stop his friend and failed, turning to the golden protocol droid with a somewhat apologetic expression. Threepio, noticing what exactly was happening, exclaimed in surprise and turned to Han and Leia immediately.
"Oh! Oh, my. Uh, Princess Leia!" Threepio stuttered, catching her and Han's attentions.
But they were both scowling at his too loud voice, shushing him angrily. "Quiet, Threepio." Leia whispered, still not realizing that Paploo had run off.
Threepio lowered his voice to the relief of the rebels and hurriedly stated their problem. "I'm afraid our furry companion has gone and done something rather rash."
Han and Leia's eyes widened. "Oh, no." Leia whispered, peeking through the brush to indeed see the small Ewok moving toward the lounging Imperial scouts.
With a deep breath, Paploo approached one of the speeder bikes and jumped high onto the seat above, still not catching the notice of the scouts. Confused with the contraption, but dead set on creating his distraction, he began to flip random switches until his paw hit the right one, the engine roaring suddenly and loudly behind him. The Ewok grinned as the Imperials turned to him in shock.
"There goes our surprise attack." Han sighed, watching, along with the others, in distress.
Just as the Imperials began to sprint towards Paploo, the Ewok again found the right switch and zoomed away into the forest, hanging on to the handles by his paws and yelling in excitement.
"Stop him!" One scout yelled, jumping on one of the speeders and instantly being trailed by two of his companions. As the three sped away, the fourth watched in exasperation, his bike having been stolen by the daring Ewok. With a sigh, the scout made his way back to his post, still oblivious to the stunned yet delighted rebels watching from above.
"Not bad for a little furball. Now there's only one left." Han smirked and turned to Leia. "You stay here, we'll take care of this."
Leia looked like she wanted to protest, but nodded all the same. Then Han and Chewie stealthily made their way down the brush, slipping towards the bunker and avoiding the sight of the lone trooper. Threepio, still fighting panic, moved closer to Wicket and Artoo. "I have decided that we shall stay here."
Artoo beeped at him, an electronic chuckle escaping him. Threepio gasped in outrage. "Artoo-Deetoo!"
Wicket smiled lightly at the bickering droids, but his mind was focused on Paploo, a friend of his. Little did he know, the Ewok was still deftly sailing through the giant trees, his maneuvers more lucky than skillful. Paploo was definitely terrified, but the adrenaline rush brought much more of a thrill to the little guy.
It wasn't long, however, before the Imperials zoomed behind him, firing laser blasts at him and attempting to disable his speeder. With the threat of death looming, Paploo focused his attention on a low-hanging vine approaching his racing speeder. He raised a free paw and quickly grabbed it, swinging high into the trees he knew well and watching as the scouts tore underneath him in hot pursuit of the still-flying unoccupied bike.
Paploo smiled, knowing he had been successful.
Back at the bunker, Han had his hand tight on his blaster, looking around the wall at the scout standing alone and looking distracted. With a breath and a brief thought of how ridiculous this idea was, he quickly tapped the Imperial on the shoulder and ran to the opposite side, fighting a laugh as the armored man looked around in confusion.
However, it took him only a second to spot Han's running form on his other side, and he ran after him, shouting. But Han let the scout chase him all the way back to where the strike team was waiting, their blasters cocked and aimed at the shocked Imperial. He lowered his own blaster and raised his hands in surrender, knowing he was outnumbered.
Once they had the scout in binders and put to the side, guarded by a few rebels, they all moved towards the main door of the bunker. Leia moved forward to the door with Han, watching as he inputted a pattern into the door's control panel. When the door slid open, they peeked inside and noticed in surprise that it seemed to be devoid of life inside.
"No guards?" Leia asked skeptically. Han shrugged, his grip tight on his weapon once again. With a sigh, the group entered the bunker together, leaving another rebel out as lookout.
Time was ticking away and they quickly made for the center of the bunker, tense and ready for anything.
