Kili stayed for five days and Sabrielle thoroughly enjoyed every waking moment of his company. She’d forgotten how much she loved his cheeky sense of humour and the way he was pretty much shameless around her. One night he even had the cheek to asked her if she needed any help washing up in the bath. She’d slapped him gently on the arm and told him not to be so impertinent.
“You wouldn’t dare to ever say that to a Lady of the Court now would you?” she scolded her grin as wide as the River Anduin, “So why would you say it to the woman providing you with food and bed?”
It was a common enough event that the young dwarf would flirt flagrantly with her but she knew that deep down in his heart of hearts he longed for another. Sabrielle knew he had given his love to a particular Captain of the Guard in the Greenwood with dazzling hair like a firemoon he had once seen escorting some merchants along the Great East Road some years ago. Unfortunately, after the Battle for Erebor, the scarlet headed elf had gone missing and it was said she was to be seen wandering the mountains in the north believing that the love of her life had passed far beyond her reach. Other sources claimed the elf had been spotted in the many forests that were scattered throughout Middle-Earth. Kili was yet to find her again and Sabrielle was afraid that she may have died of despair before hearing the news of his living. Not that she would ever dare to say such a thing to the young dwarf prince for fear of his reaction being too grievous to endure.
At the end of his short stay Kili presented his friend with a gift; a beautifully crafted mithril ornament encasing a white jewel that looked as if were a shard of pure starlight fallen from the heavens. It had been threaded it onto a slim chain of the finest silver in the whole of the Mountain so that the elf could wear it about her throat as a necklace. Sabrielle had hugged the dark-haired dwarf so fiercely tight that he’d feared that he was being choked to death by her.
“It’s beautiful beyond words,” she’d sighed staring at the gift again, cradling it in her slender hands. Kili felt a pang of jealousy grip his heart but he threw the emotion away in disgust.
‘Don’t be silly,’ he scolded himself internally, ‘You have to find Tauriel. She is yours. Your brother has made his intentions quite clear already. It would only seem that you were out to spite him if you told her about it. It’s just a stage.’
“It is a present from Fili,” the dwarf managed painfully not being able to meet his friend’s eyes, “It took him many hours to shape and craft for you. Shall I tell him that you liked it?” The elf looked up at him, her dark blue eyes startled at the news for she had thought the gift had been from the younger of the siblings.
“Oh,” Sabrielle replied guilt flooding through her like a raging storm at the thought that Kili had to deliver messages to and from his brother. “Oh. Yes please. Tell him it’s stunning beyond imagination. I love it.” The young dwarf inclined his head slightly acknowledging the statement. “Or perhaps I could write a note?” Sabrielle amended only to mentally kick herself.
‘A note?’ berated the elf, ‘You just offered to write a note for him to deliver? Like a humble courier. This is the Prince of Erebor. Not a hired help. Honestly, Sabrielle and you call yourself a good host.’
“No actually it might be best just to tell him,” she flashed a smile hoping she hadn’t offended her friend.
“Excellent,” he tried for a smile which felt ugly and forced to the dwarf but surprisingly seemed to fool his companion, “Thank-you, once again, for being such a generous and wonderful host, Sabrielle. I have enjoyed my time here immensely as always. I can’t think of a place I’d rather be. I never can.” The elf beamed back and a slightly awkward and stale silence ensued.
“Until we meet again,” Kili blurted suddenly giving his friend a tight hug, “Under stars or sunshine.”
“May the Valar bless this parting,” Sabrielle grinned freely as she returned the action.
“And reunite us once again,” the pair finished together. Kili quickly broke off and mounted his pony. The elf eyed him curiously for a moment at his haste to be off.
“Kili!” she called stepping up close to the bay mare he was atop, “Wait a moment.” She grabbed the bridle of the pony stopping it from going anywhere. Without a seconds hesitation Sabrielle reached up half hauling herself onto the pony and planted a firm yet gentle kiss on the dwarf’s mouth. The action was quick and fleeting but caught Kili completely off guard. He froze as her smooth lips pecked his own overwhelmed by the pure, unadulterated bliss that flooded and bewildered all his senses rendering his mind completely inactive for a few brilliant moments. He could feel the strong, calming warmth she always radiated soaking into his soul. And, all too suddenly, it was over.
“Travel safe,” she ordered sternly distancing herself so he could ride off. The dwarf nodded dumbly completely taken aback by the sudden and unexpected event that had just occurred before slowly turning his mount’s shaggy head for home. The elf watched his broad quivered back until he was long out of sight. As he rode along, a smiled slowly began to tug at the corners of the dwarf’s lips soon spreading into a giddy grin that could not be erased. Kili gently pressed two of his fingers to his mouth as his mind whirled in a mix of confusion and ecstasy and lingered on the memory of the feathery soft touch of her perfect lips to his own.
-----------
Ooh! Did you like it? Tell me your thoughts, please!!! The photo on the side justifies why she kissed him don't you think? How can you pass down such an intense looking guy? I mean seriously!!! He's a bit of a flirt though isn't he? Enough of my rabble! Don't forget to tell me what YOU thought of the story or just general comments! I've already written the next chapter and I think it's going to make you scream! >:D. Also if you want to see basically what Fili (gee I love him too) made search up Arwen's Evenstar Pendant to get a basic idea. If anyone could write a better description for it I'd love it and dedicate this chapter to them! Or maybe the next one because I think I like it better. Meow! Until we meet again!
