Magic
Mwuhaa! I can continue!
Yes, you can. Continue please.
Right.
"So, this entire thing has to do with my last name?" Raven asked.
"Your last name is Le Fay, is it not?" Merlin wondered, tilting her head.
"Yeah, so what?"
"It implies you are of the Le Fay bloodline. The black hair and green eyes are signs of your ancestry."
"Alright, I've been patient, why did you say I might need to find my cousins for training?" Exodus broke in.
Ms. Merlin smiled softly at him. "I guess we have to explain. Sabanthia, you are from the Host line. First things first, Magic is real."
"What?" Exodus said flatly, clearly not really believing her.
Merlin sighed, pointing to his shirt. "Color, crimson." Exodus's shirt changed from a green shirt to a crimson red shirt. "Not hard."
"Does you speaking the words help with the execution of the spell?" I wondered.
"Yes. Less trouble than saying weird phrases in Latin and waving a wand, no?" Merlin said.
"Right, I suppose so," Raven agreed.
Merlin snorted softly. "Definitely. Anyway, that's the Children of Camelot magic type. Exodus, your bloodline carries the Elemental Fission/Fusion magic type. It is capable of what the name says, splitting things down into their individual elements. And I am referencing atoms in this, not elements like fire or water."
"When used correctly, your bloodline is capable of purifying water. And that's on the simpler and less horrifying end. If you want horrifying, try this on for speed. Elemental Fission/Fusion magic type users can split water into its base elements, hydrogen, and oxygen. Both of those are a gas. The human body is approximately 75% water. Turn all that water into gasses? The person will explode. And not in a pretty way," Mom said, her expression darkening. "An effective threat, gross and horrifying in real life. I've seen it done. I had nightmares for weeks."
I could show you if you want.
'No thanks Chihre. I really really don't need to see it. My imagination is enough, thanks.'
"Not to say our magic can't be used like that, of course," Merlin added quickly. "Explode, or eviscerate work just as well. As for men, castrate works wonderfully."
"You say that like you've used it," Exodus said, looking faintly queasy.
"I haven't, but my mom, who's gone to war as part of the emergency magic force in the army, has. She used it to torture a male spy. He wasn't happy when he discovered she could carry out that threat without getting her hands dirty." Merlin had a faint smirk on her lips.
"It was an interesting day," Ms. Merlin admitted. "Luckily, that was the only time I've had to use that spell."
"I'm not going to ask," Raven said, looking slightly queasy as well.
"Good idea," I agreed.
"Alright. One more magic type. The Hosts bloodline," Merlin said. "Sabanthia, your family is the only known family with this bloodline. There were rumors of a line in the Elemental Nations, but those stopped a while ago. The parasites your line is known for feed on life force, but have a limited capacity for how much they can eat."
"The dream mentioned something like that," I said, remembering the dream I'd had. "Mom, you promised to explain your comment about sealing this afternoon."
"Of course. There are five 'sealing points' on the human body." As Mom spoke, she gestured to each place. "Forehead, right next to your right eye, both shoulders, right below your collar bone, and outer thigh, on both legs."
"What do these points do?" Raven asked.
"They limit power. One of Jierhe's previous hosts, when they were the chosen one to save the world and all that stuff, had the ability to seal. He disappeared once the world had been saved, and I guess I know where he went."
"Where?" I asked.
"In that alternate dimension that you visited while you slept," Mom replied. "I guess he was tasked with sealing all the new teens."
"Captain Mantis?" I asked thinking back to the dream.
"I suppose so. With the only sealing mark being on your head, you should be fine, and your abilities only slightly dimmed. Will all five blocked, using any and all abilities is almost impossible."
Luckily, the sealing mark didn't go too deep. Had it gone any deeper, I would've been cut off from talking to you. It would've taken ages to get past the seal. Mantis is a talented sealer.
"Chihre mentioned it was different for everyone, how did earlier teens practice?" I wondered.
"Usually they sparred with us," Merlin said. "We could usually imitate or nullify their abilities, so people from the Children of Camelot bloodline made wonderful sparring partners."
"Oh, when I asked Chihre about this earlier, she mentioned someone Eclipse," I said.
Exodus frowned for a second, then his face cleared. "I know her, I've met her a few times. She's got a photographic memory. She has a lot of random chemical compounds stored away, like the exact chemical makeup of yarn. I dunno how she got that, but yeah."
"She probably used your cousins," Merlin said, smiling ruefully. "Part of the abilities of that bloodline include being able to sense what elements are in objects."
"So, Middy or Day probably told her the chemical makeup, and she memorized it?" Exodus asked.
Ms. Merlin nodded. "Most likely. With Eclipse memorizing the chemical compounds, they can just ask her and then create the compound as Eclipse tells it to them."
"Chihre mentioned that the bloodline wasn't active in Exodus because he doesn't have a twin, what'll happen with him?" I wondered, glancing at Exodus.
"Either both, or one of them. Probably both," Merlin offered. "The bloodline is split in two, Fission, and Fusion. One twin has one, the other twin has the other. The physical traits that set that bloodline apart are the red hair and the light yellow, or dark navy blue eyes. Who knows what'll happen with you, but your appearance will probably change to match whichever power you get."
Yeah, chopping you short again.
Ah well, almost done anyway.
