The hospital waiting too was surprisingly empty. Only three people waited. A sobbing woman, a silent child, and an impassive lady. They waited with anticipation for hours it seemed. They watched as outside the window, night turned into day and was nearing noon.

The impassive lady looked at her sister. "Lilin, would you like me to buy you something to eat?"

The sobbing woman looked up from her hands. Sunlight reached her eyes as she blinked back pain and tears. "The dead do not eat so too shall I not," Lilin said in a horse whisper. Her words were slow as if she had not talked in years. She returned to looking down but did not continue her lament, the beautiful ring lay in her hands. "Get Piper something, will you? She still has something worth living for."

Lilin looked at her child who had not said a word since the subway. The chided looked up but her head was downcast. A hesitancy was in her voice. "Papa's awake."

Eyes widened as a shaky gasp was heard in the hall. Lilin stood up and then went down on her knees in front of her daughter. She held the precious girl's digits in her hands. "Is it true; Sylis is alive?" Piper nodded her head. "How does he feel? Can—can you talk to him?"

Piper closed her Auburn eyes, feeling a pair of matching sets burned into her skin. She felt pain. It hurt; it hurt to breathe. Not only that but she felt emotional pain. He was scared. Scared of something or someone or for someone. "Papa is hurting. His heart hurts." She tried to make a connection telepathy to him so they could talk but no reply came only screams. Piper winced and cut it off quickly. "I cannot understand what she is saying. All I hear is loud noises."

At the sound of a door opening, all three females stood up and looked at the head doctor. "Is he okay?" Lilin asked, stepping closer to the doctor. The doctor held a grim frown as he pulled his hat off his head.

Lilin's frowned, matching the doctor's. "Your husband is alive," he started. Lilin and even Lilith let go of a breath they were holding. "But," he continued. "I am sorry to say that he has amnesia. He doesn't remember anything, not even his own name."

"Can I..." Lilin looked behind her. "Can we see him now?"

The doctor nodded and led them inside. The nurses on the sidelines stepped to the walls as they accompanied the Cozbis. Lilin looked at Sylis. His head was managed and he had a tube sticking out of his mouth. His chest was removed from his clothes but was covered with blood covered manages.

"How...are you?" Lilin asked. His aqua eyes blinked and looked over at Lilin who tiptoed carefully towards him.

A noise came from the tube and a nearby nurse removed the tube so he could speak. "Who...who are you?" he asked.

Lilin shut her trembling lips as they threatened to start wailing. She swallowed and turned away but not quickly enough because a tear had escaped her eye.

"Wait."

Lilin stopped and turned back to face her lover.

"Don't cry, you look too lovely to cry..." Lilin watched her lover as he grabbed her hand. "You look... beautiful."

A soft smile encased her face. She grabbed his hand and held it in hers. "I am your wife, Sylis." She slipped his beautiful ring on his finger.

He looked down at it and whispered, "The past, the present, the future..."

"What did you say?" Lilin asked, getting closer to his face.

"The past, the present, the future...it's something that I remember for some reason." Sylis looked up. "Do you know what it means?"

Lilin shook her head. "I do not know...but I can help you figure it out."

Piper popped her head to see Sylis. He moved his head a little to get a better look at her. Lilin noticed and stepped out of the way, moving Piper in front of her. "You have a daughter, Sylis."

Sylis looked at Lilin then at Piper. "She has your eyes," he noticed. Lilin smiled and nodded.

"Papa, are you still there?" Piper asked.

"Hello..." he tried to think of a name but instead settled for a pet name. "Peanut."

Piper's eyes lit up as she smiled. "You're still there!" he cheered as she hugged him. Sylis coughed a few times but smiled anyway.

"Yes, I am."

Sylis' aqua eyes noticed Lilith in the back. "Who are you?" he asked.

Lilin and Piper stepped out of their way, as Lilith looked at the nurses and doctor. The spy nodded her head and they exited without saying anything. Lilith walked to the other side of Sylis. The frown she wore never faded. Her actions are slow and calculated everything that they did could shape the mind of Sylis' malleable mind.

She looked over to her older sister who watched her. A silent conversation went on between them that even Piper could not listen and eavesdrop on. Lilith then turned to Sylis.

"We don't know each other. I am Lilin's younger sister, Lilith. It is nice to make your acquaintance." Lilith held out her hand. Sylis nodded, accepting the truth as he shook her hand.

"You have a firm handshake," he pointed out.

"You do too," she complimented as she stepped back. "Sylis, you should rest. We will soon be taking you home." Lilith turned around and walked to the exit. She stopped and turned her head. "Lilin, you and Piper can talk to him a little bit more." With that, she exited the room, shutting the door behind her.

"Are you okay, Papa?" Piper asked, pocking her head above the railing keeping Sylis stable on the cot.

"I am, Peanut," Sylis said, "But what happened to me? I cannot remember anything. Who I am, what I do..." He looked up at Lilin for the final thing. "...What happened?"

Lilin looked at her daughter, the girl who had the power of thoughts, memories, and dreams. She could give his past back to him in a snap if she so desired, but is that the best thing to do in this circumstance? Lilin herself didn't know everything about her lover, and Piper was too young to understand everything. If they changed something, would that change everything about the man she fell in love with?

"Show him."
