Chapter 29: NO

The train door opened and a team of German police exited, guns ready. The train station was almost completely empty except for the unconscious shadow killer and a young lady with black hair crying over a man with a bullet hole in his heart and blood seeping out of his head, a child is also standing, tears streaming out of her Auburn eyes.

Sylis opened his aqua-blue eyes. Stars were painted on the ceiling with white or glow-in-the-dark paint they seemed to twinkle in the darkness. It reminded him of the underground passageway that his mother brought him all those years ago. He ran away from Germany but fate brought him back. The stars were bright, and he smiled. He lived a good life. "I love you," he whispered to his weeping wife. A weak hand rose to touch her cheek in a gentle moment, his ring cold on her cheek.

That's when it went limp.

"NOOOOOOOO!!" Lilin wailed with tears on her cheeks, her head facing the stars above and her eyes closed.

It seemed that the depression of the moment made everyone into statues as no one did anything as they watched the scene unfold in front of them.

Lilin laid her head on Sylis' chest and sobbed upon it as she did with her own mother so many years ago. "Too many have died..." Her words were barely above a whisper but they echoed through the empty set. "I can't lose you too...not you too..." The child looked at the train car. "I thought..." Lilin took in a shaken breath. "I thought that if I had you I could finally leave. That I could..." Likin looked at her husband's face. How peaceful he looked in his unconscious state. "That I could stop putting people in danger. Perhaps I should join you in death..."

Lilin quickly grabbed Sylis' gun and pointed it to the side of her head.

"NOOOOOOOO!!"

Lilin looked over to where the noise originated, her hand shaking with the cold weapon in her hand. Her breathing was labored as she saw Piper, her daughter. Tiny fingers were separated as she stopped her own mother from suicide but that wasn't the person who said the noise.

"Put the gun down, Lilin!" Lilin slowly placed Sylis' gun on the concrete floor as she turned around. The German police parted, like the Red Sea, making a patch down the middle of them. Sniffles came from Lilin as she turned her head.

Lilith walked out of the subway train, she was dressed in a white coat, gloves on her hands, and a mask covering her face. She stopped by her older sister and looked down at her. The poor woman started to cry once again as her shaking hand met her face, the cold ring touching her heated face. "He's dead...and I killed him."

Lilith shook her head. "Get up," he commanded in a soft voice, barely a whisper but held such force one had to listen. "Give me the gun."

Lilin grabbed the gun and stood up, handing the weapon to her younger sister. Lilin slowly looked at her sister, her crimson eyes blurry like blood in a lake. "What am I going to do now?" She was sorrowful as a lost puppy. "My love...Sylis...is dead."

Lilith met her sister's gaze. It was tough like a ruby. "Sylis is not dead."

The sound of sirens was heard and the vampire of boots against concrete echoed down the hall. Lilin looked up and towards the noise. Suddenly a mass of doctors and nurses flooded the scene. Piper ran to her mother and held onto her legs in a tight embrace, the child's eyes closed with fear and sadness. Lilin's lazy hand covered the child's back.

The people in white coats worked quickly as motion was taken over in the subway. The showdown killer was taken away by the German police as they called the man in black away. Their communications devices turned off and on as they talked to one another.

A crowd had surrounded Sylis, the dying man. Not quite dead but not quite alive either. Lilin couldn't see him. She couldn't see him.

I can't see him.

I can't see him.

I can't see him.

I can't see him.

I can't see

Sylis.

"Where is he? I don't see him!"

Lilith held onto Lilin's shoulder noticing her older sister's panic. "The doctors are working on getting him to a hospital."

A teacher was brought down as he was hosted up. "Where are you taking him?!" Lilin screamed running to the doctors as they rolled him away. "Where are you taking him? Don't leave me! I—I am his wife! I have proof!" Lilin held up Sylis' ring.

Lilith walked to the head doctor and whispered something in their ear. They nodded and Lilith went to her sister. "Calm down," she ordered, placing a hand on Lilin's shoulder. "Follow him. I'll take care of Piper."

Lilin ran after her doctors and left Lilith and Lioer all alone.

Piper looked at her aunt and held out her hand. Lilith grabbed hold of the small feature but did not say anything.

"Did I do a good job?" Piper asked, her crimson eyes still looking upwards.

"Of course, my dear child. Let us go to the hospital. Your mother will be calmed down by then." Lilith nodded her head and Piper looked in front of her. In a silent parade, they walked out of the subway.
