Chapter 19: Sleepy- Sleep!

The next day came around. Yesterday she spent time in the training room after she was finally able to stand. Thanks to Gruumm bringing her medicine that sped up her healing, it made her tired but with force she made herself train, and it caused her to feel extra sleepy.

When morning came around, it was a real struggle to get out of the cot, but she groggily and gradually made her way through the halls; her stomach growled, demanding food caused her to frown.

"Man... You can get lost so easily in here," Groaning, yawning, rubbing one of her eyes, her feet were about to pass a room when murmurs from Morgana caught her attention. The fog around the floor didn't help her sleepiness, it also didn't help that her stitches made it difficult to even move in the cot last night.

Into the room, she walked and saw Morgana giggle at Cindy Sunshine. "M- Morning... I would've k- knocked but your door opened on its own. Is Gruumm awake?" Nervousness filled her mind the more she spoke and scratched at her cheek after she looked away.

"Good morning! And-- not that I know of. Do you want to have tea with me?" When she looked at the overgrown child, she saw her offer a toy tea cup to her and a small smile.

"S- Sure... I guess," As awkward as it was, her feet carefully moved and just as cautiously she sat in a similar chair Morgana was in. I guess it wouldn't hurt to play around a bit. This is kind of cute.~ I haven't done this since I was little. A small smile curved her lips when she picked up the cup that was offered and watched the woman pretend to pour some tea into it.

"Caffeine or Decafe?" Morgana questioned when she flashed a smile to the brunette.

"Caffeine. Dear lord I'm going to need it... It hurt to sleep in th- that cot. I c- couldn't move much because of my stitches," Despite the treatment she received from Gruumm last night, she could still feel a slight sting in her side, which her hand gently rubbed.

After the toy teapot was put down, Feige pretended to sip at the nonexistent beverage and watched the woman give the tiny cup to her doll.

"I bet Gruumm would put more of that stuff on you if you ask," Stated the gothic woman as she continued to make Cindy Sunshine drink the imaginary tea.

However, before either of the ladies could continue their short conversation, in came the very Emperor whom Morgana spoke of. It was easy to tell that he had both hands behind his back when Feige looked up at him and blinked. It was kind of funny to her, to see him pause at the sight of her and stare for a long time.

"Oh-- Good morning, Lord Gruumm!" Morgana greeted but not once did she look up to see him, for she was too busy tending to her doll to care.

"Rah-- it is not good!" Whipping around to face the childish woman, he stated.

"If you say so. Tea?" Rudely she was interrupted when the tiny cup and teapot were offered.

"I did not sleep! I haven't slept since we arrived at this miserable planet!" Roared the bony beast as he paced back and forth next to the table. Not only was his endeavors making him lose sleep, but it was also what Feige said to him yesterday that forced his brain to think relentlessly.

"Decaffeinated tea!" With a big smile, Morgana looked to Gruumm, just to be denied by him with a quick 'no!'. So she returned to her little pretend party. The whole scene made Feige snort and hide her smile at the two.

"I haven't slept last night either... My stitches kept me awake," The brunette lifted her teacup and pretended to sip it again. "Do you want to take a nap with me later?" Curious, her violet hues watched him face her with a cute head tilt that she'd grown to like. It was enough to make her smile, just to have it fall when he groaned and moved his attention to Morgana.

"I want you, to draw a monster. One that the Rangers have never before seen," Demanded the Emperor, which the book he handed her was quickly taken by Morgana.

Curiosity made Feige's eyes focus on the book and lean over a little to try and watch.

"And-- if we defeat Earth today, can I go back to being Mora?!" The large grin she donned made the brunette questionably stare at the overgrown child.

Back to Mora... What does she mean? Her thoughts were soon interrupted when Gruumm spoke up and caught her attention. Awkwardly she returned to the pretend tea and sipped at the cup.

"Yes!" With an annoyed groan, he answered, just to hear her cheer with an 'oh goody!' on her part, and quickly put the pen she was given against the paper.

"This should be what you're looking for!" As soon as Feige heard her yell, from the book came a giant purple cloud with slits for eyes.

"Holy sh-" As comedic as the situation could get, the brunette jumped at the random monster, which made her chair fall back and caused her to land on the floor. "Ow... My everything," The room fell silent, she wasn't aware that Morgana stared with eyes as wide as softballs and Gruumm who leaned over to look around the table, to see her ridiculous position.

Her predicament was enough to get an amused snort out of him, he was tempted to help her but refrained from doing so. Especially since she used her telekinetic power to lift herself and the chair upright so she could sit down again. "I heard that," The pout on her lips and the glare she gave him, caused Gruumm to look away with a shake of his head.

"You... Heard nothing!" Grumbling, he spoke and hid the faint pulse in his red rubies. Back to Morgana, he decided to ignore her for now to give the entity a good look. "What is that?" His confused stare went unnoticed, but he did glance at Feige and saw an awestruck gaze.

"A Monster! One like the Rangers has never seen before!" Grinning from cheek to cheek, the overgrown child explained and stared at the giant puffy cloud.

"Nor have I," Feige was too focused on the cloud to see Gruumm glance at her again and tilt his head to see why she made such a face. "Why are you staring at it like that?" Curious, he stepped closer until a large grin pulled on the brunette's lips.

"It's so fluffy! It looks like a cloud with eyes!" Across the table, she reached for it and surprisingly was able to touch its otherwise transparent body. She watched its eyes widen when she began to pet it and pull it closer.

"It's supposed to look scary!" Morgana groaned and huffed with a fold of her arms, which Fiege ignored.

"I'm weird... I- I like scary things sometimes. I even think spiders are cute.~" Giggling, pulling the floating puff into her arms, the horrified shriek it gave made Gruumm stifle a chuckle that was threatening to surface. Like a cat, she held it tight against her and petted the top of it.

"I..." Morgana was too surprised to answer, for she quickly got over the fact that it wasn't scary to her when she saw the brunette snuggle it like a cat.

"Morgana! Send it to Earth, now!" With a finger, Feige watched him point toward the door and saw the woman stand up just as fast as he gave the order.

"Nooooo! N- Nooo, I want it! It's so cute," Feige continued to ignore its horrified squeals and its attempt to push itself out of her arms. Both of them looked at her, watching her cuddle it against her chest to where her mouth was buried into its transparent fluff.

"Maybe-- if it defeats t- the Power Rangers!" With a huff and a shake of his head, he strode out of the room. The subtle pulses in his rubies and the crack in his voice indicated how flustered he was to see that side of her.

Reluctantly she let go of the cloud and waved goodbye as it followed after the childish woman behind the Emperor. However, the startled stare it gave her on its way out made her frown.

As time passed, so had a battle, she stood in a completely different room that had countless alien consoles in the center and watched the Power Rangers effortlessly fight the entity who controlled a robot. Aw, man! It's so cute! Why?! Why capture such an adorable creature?! Behind Gruumm and Morgana, she pouted. I wonder why he has a screen to watch fights in almost every room... Hmm, maybe he's just bored? Or maybe he's a couch potato who treats robot fights like it's an MMA match that he doesn't like to miss out on? The thought made her giggle, she couldn't contain herself but tried nonetheless.

"I asked you... To draw me a warrior like I've never seen before. I've seen his kind before," Gruumm wandered around the gothic woman with his face close to the side of hers and directed a finger toward the screen. "The type of warrior, that loses to the Power Rangers!" Screaming into her ear, his body shook with rage just to earn himself a telekinetic yank that forced him back. "Feige, stop that!" His head whipped to the said woman.

It was disappointing to see him lash out when she knew Morgana was trying, so with a deep groan in her throat her head shook. "I know you're tired, but stop it. You're being a jerk again. At least she's trying," Tapping her foot, she watched his heavy breaths make his chest move and saw his body quiver from the anger.

"Yes-- thank you!" Morgana's hand waved to the brunette and quickly returned her attention to him. "Sorry! Maybe we'll have better luck tomorrow!" At least she was trying to stay positive, regardless, her answer wasn't enough.

"No! I want you to draw me another warrior, now!" The Emperor exploded and began to wiggle the book in her face, to which she took and got to work.

Feige didn't like that. His outburst and lack of appreciation made her stomp over to him and smack him upside his head. There she saw him whip around, with fury in his glinting rubies and a grumble to compliment it.

"What was that for?!" The tight fists proved he was close to the edge of his emotional limit.

"That's it," This time it was her turn to be angry, for her hand reached up, yanked on his horn, and pulled on it.

"Ow! Let go!" To her, it was like tugging on an ear, because, seeing him in this predicament made her smirk and walk away with him in tow.

Time and time again, each time he lashed out she'd pull on his horn or yank him away with her power. Roughly all day, it was like this for her, and when she walked into the room as before she saw him call for Morgana with a rough handle of the book. At least he didn't lash out too hard this time, it pleased her to see some progress over his temperament.

"Sheesh, I know he's tired but come on... I think he decided to call it quits for now," Rubbing her eyes, she could only see through one and saw Broodwing walk in her direction. In front of her, he stopped, to which she curiously blinked, and averted her gaze.

"I'm not surprised Emperor Gruumm managed to save you from King Atsuon. I decided to come to you first because I noticed a bit of money came into my account after some time. Did you manage to convince him?" There was a small glint of appreciation in his small red eyes, but she didn't look at him long enough to see any other details.

"Um... Y- Yes. I think so... I got him to pay at least a bit of what he o- owed. I did try. I'm sorry, I know it's not as much as y- you hoped for," Nervous, she was, her fingers wrapped and fiddled with each other as she peeked at the curious bat.

"He still owes me a lot more! You could always sneak into his account and pay me what's due," Feige watched him step closer after he spoke and leaned toward her face.

"I- I can't! That's wrong! Besides-- I can't read... Troobian," Inches away, she moved to gain some space and avoided eye contact as much as possible.

"Hah-- I have stolen many things and hacked into technology. Then... I have another idea. Why not--" Before he could say anything else, violet eyes glowed and his body lifted. "W- What are you..." Harshly backward he flew, skidded across the floor, and slammed against a wall with a grunt.

"S- Sorry! Y- You were too close! I lost control!" Panic filled her mind when she saw him struggle to stand up, so she quickly ran to him to help. The swat from his hand told her he refused it and watched him raise back up.

"Never mind!" Huffing, angrily he trudged past her and headed toward wherever Gruumm was.

She needed to follow him. Oh no, is he going to start trouble? Gruumm's already been horribly stressed today-- the last thing he needs is drama! Urgently she stayed on his tail and ended up in the Monitoring Room where the Emperor could be seen in his chair.

In the shadows, they lingered, she knew Gruumm wasn't aware of her presence but the faint bubble that blooped in the bat's punch bowl gave him away. "Broodwing! Today... Was not a good day. I lost three robots fighting against the Rangers," A bit of the anger he had earlier still leaked from his mouth when he spoke, it didn't go unnoticed by the brunette.

Thankfully she still wasn't seen and leaned against the bars close to the entrance. "Yes! But tomorrow's another day, my lord," Pleased, Broodwing was, for no one knew of what he did behind the Emperor's back.

"Yes... But that's not what's troubling me..." He began with a lift of his finger and paused for a moment. "Today, the Rangers defeated six robots. Someone else sent the others! Someone else wants to take over Earth!" After a second, he took a breath and raised his finger again toward the Batman without so much as a glance. "Do you know... Who that someone else, is?" He hoped he'd get the answer, at least from him. To be challenged by Atsuon and by an anonymous other hit his pride as the Troobian Emperor.

Feige peeked around Broodwing's arm and realized that Gruumm still didn't notice her. "Of course not! It would be foolish to go up against you!" She didn't see it, but she heard it, the ego-stroking voice that came from the bat sent alarms off in her head that he was up to no good.

"Yes. It would be," Just before he turned to face his monitor, there was a halt in his movement and then a jerk of his head when he looked to Broodwing again. Slowly around him, she saw him lean and quickly flashed a smile that he sighed at. "Feige-- why are you here? It's roughly five o'clock in Earth's time!" The fury still burned in his rubies when he stood up.

"I'm glad to see that my methods a- are working.~ You look a bit calmer than earlier today... Come, come!" Quickly, she ran around the bat and grabbed his wrist. The rough yank she received out of her hand only made her frown and glare daggers. "You're coming with me... You need some sleep," Stern, adamant, she was, and this time she decided to walk away.

"I told you, I have not slept since I arrived at--!" The complaint he gave was interrupted when Feige looked over her shoulder and used her power to lift him into the air. "Put me down!" Giggling at his outburst, she dragged him behind her kicking and flailing like a child during his tantrum.

"N- No...~" Amused would be an understatement, too occupied with carrying him that she didn't see an entertained Broodwing watch her tame the beast with little to no effort. "Sleepy, sleep.~" Overjoyed now, she hardly paid any attention to his grunts and thrashes on her way out of the room, for she was too busy with her little melodious hum.

"Feige!" The said woman ignored his outburst that echoed throughout the halls and had him float along behind her, so she didn't get to see the bright crimson glint from his rubies.

"Mr. Gruummbles-- where's your bedroom?" The sting from her stitches still made her wince each time she stepped a little too hard but she managed. There was almost a skip in her trek, delighted to help Gruumm even if he didn't want it. He seriously needs some sleep. If he's going to fight Atsuon, he's going to need it. I have to be forceful with my bestie sometimes!~ The melodious hum continued to escape her closed smile and kept her finger in the air. The confused glance she received from Morgana went ignored, except when she heard a faint giggle from her as Gruumm passed her by.

"I look ridiculous! Put me down!" The brunette giggled at his outburst, which she gave him a peek over her shoulder and grinned. He did look ridiculous, considering his arms and legs dangled, making him look like a floating ghost of some kind.

She could tell he was embarrassed by the faint pulse of his ever-glowing eyes, it was enough to make her giggle more. "Only if you p- promise to show me to your room," To tease him, her finger wiggled, as if to scold him and broadened her grin with a few clicks of her tongue.

Slumping with his head dropping, she heard a groan leave his skeletal mouth. "There's no winning with you..." His mumbled words were difficult to hear, but not once did she avert her attention from him. When she saw his head perk up, the crimson pulses in his eyes returned. "Fine! Just put me down already!" Roared the bony beast with clenched fists.

As if on cue, he fell to the floor with a muffled grunt. It was hard for her not to laugh at his predicament, nonetheless, she managed to stifle most of it when her mouth was quickly covered. "S- Sorry! I thought you'd land on your feet!" The groans from him could be heard as the brunette watched him stand.

"I am not... A feline," Huffing and puffing up, he made his way past her so he could take the lead.

Through the halls Feige followed him, her violet hues were glued to the back of his head, and began to ponder how she'd go about her method to help him sleep. Now... I'd have to examine his bed, check his pillow if he uses one, smell around to see if it stinks, and see if there's anything around that could be keeping him awake. If all is clear-- then most likely his mind's just restless. Her thoughts thankfully weren't heard. If she didn't resist the pull she felt at that moment, he would've. It probably would have started an interesting conversation.

After a two-minute trek, they finally arrived, and her eyes scanned over the vast room with very little furniture. Troobian styles barely filled the area, with a small table to one side of the spherical room, a large bed big enough to fit two as it sat against the curved bars, and a single unique bench at the end of it.

The bed had drapes on the sides of the canopy that looked like they were made of spider thread, for it flowed easily upon each tiny breeze that would waft about. There were two very simple and large pillows, but when she pressed her hand on it she cringed. "Yikes... No wonder you can't sleep," Hard, rounded, with a silky case that covered it, she scowled at the idea of his head against it.

"It is the only way I can sleep. My horns will puncture and tear anything softer than that," She heard him explain behind her. Feige didn't pay attention when he cleared his throat awkwardly. The woman wasn't able to see his arms fold nor see his feet shift weight onto one leg.

Next, she examined the mattress and blanket. It's clean but the blanket's rough... It doesn't smell either. Maybe he likes rough blankets? So it couldn't be that. She continued to explore the bed and felt around the sheet. This time her eyes closed to listen for anything that could keep just about anyone awake. There was only a faint hum of the ship and pure silence. Finally, she whipped around to face him with a determination that he probably began to question.

"It's too quiet in here and you need a better pillow. I'd suggest trying some white noise and if... It's your horns preventing you from having anything else but that pillow, y- you could try tube-shaped ones! They're some that are firm but aren't as hard as a rock," Quietly she mumbled the last bit and stepped closer to the contemplative Emperor, whom she saw his famous head-tilt.

"I will look into it," It was his turn to mumble, for his rubies averted from her gaze and grumbled a little at the thought.

She saw that. Maybe... I could give him some rest? I used to... Snuggle on my Mom's legs a long time ago whenever I couldn't sleep. Or I'd curl up to her backside and pass out when she's asleep in her bed. Maybe he'd like that? Innocent, she was to some degree. Never did she think how intimate it was considering they weren't even related. Winging it, a simple shrug was all she did before her hand pulled on his arm to make them unfold.

"What are you doing?" Again his head cocked to one side, but it didn't stop her from tugging on his hand and gesturing toward the bed.

"I... I want to help you. L- Lay down, please?" Nervous would be an understatement, for her cheeks burned at the thought before she climbed in and sat up against the headboard. With her legs straight, she patted at them, there she saw him place his hands on his hips and shake his head.

"No-" Straight, simple, absolute. His answer made her frown and give him a sharp stare that a mother would to their child. "I said-- No," She could see it, he was determined and held a firm stance when his arms crossed again.

"Yes," His stubbornness began to irritate her, for a low growl escaped her throat and once again patted at her legs.

"No! It's inappropriate!" Raising his voice, she watched his head tilt forward and noticed the subtle pulse in his rubies.

"I... I don't care! L- Lay down," With a lift of her finger she made him leave the floor and yanked him onto the bed. The surprised gasp and grunt when he landed sideways on her thighs caused her to giggle. He's such a child, hahaha! More amused laughter was stifled behind her hand, thankfully she was able to hold them back and smiled at him when she calmed down.

Watching him turn to lay on his back, his head was flat on her legs and his eyes met hers. It was no surprise to her to see his legs nearly dangle off of the side of the bed, regardless, she patted the spot where his brain was exposed and closed her eyes. "Sleep, sleep. Sleepy, sleep," Her head leaned back and a soft hum began to turn into a small tune.

Fingers stroked above where his brows would be, she could feel the tiny grooves in his skull and the roughness of the bone but it didn't deter her in the least. Skeletons are so cool!~ I always wanted to touch bones but my Mom would never let me. She always told me that I'd become one if I ever did... Boy, was she wrong. Because even after not touching one, I still turned into a skeleton. The mere thought brought irony and the memory of a few days ago when her power nearly tore New Tech City apart.

Luckily her thoughts stayed in her head because if Gruumm heard that, he probably would've sat up and run away. Instead, he stayed there and watched her soft smile produce the sweet tune he began to feel drowsy to. Of course, she wasn't aware of it, but he continued to stare until his red rubies dimmed to a darker color.

It didn't hurt her at all with his larger horn pressing into her stomach, it just made a little bit of discomfort that she could easily look past. When her eyes opened after a few minutes, the rise and fall of his armored chest told her that he passed out. It wasn't long until the lovely silence and the soft hum of the ship lulled her to sleep as well.

~~~~
It was only four hours or so when the normal red color returned to his eyes, he woke up to a slumbering face that caught his breath. Gruumm dared to not move, lest she'd wake up too, and listened to the soft breaths that passed through her parted lips.
It was nice. The quietness, the peace of mind for a change, and the warmth of her skin against his head. It's been a long while since I've slept that well. In his mind, he spoke, and carefully lifted a hand. Fingers gently grazed her bottom lip, making a light shimmer gloss across them and mesmerizing him somehow.
Bottom lips to her upper ones, and down to her chin, he traced her features as carefully as he could to not wake her. An opportunity like this wasn't something he'd want to pass up. Along her jawline, just barely he grazed it and felt the softness of her earthy hair when he reached her ear.
Sitting up, rubbing his head, he gave her one last glance before quietly leaving her in the room alone and making his way to the Monitoring Room. "I can think a little better. Now-- Let's see where Atsuon is!" Once he arrived, he approached the consoles and clicked a button to scan Earth for the alien. There he found him cloaked and near a wall of a structure.
The blacktop parking lot was empty and vast, so it was big enough to have quite a few Crybots at his side. Nodding, and groaning, he quickly made his way out of the room and headed straight for his Arsenal one. A determination in his rubies reflected when his head lowered, he planned to skewer that lizard alive.
"It's time... To settle this," Mumbling to himself, Crybot spheres in the largest sizes were picked up and stuffed into a pocket. Next, it was his shield that he took off of its holder, he didn't plan to bring his bike since he knew it'd only get smashed to bits by Atsuon.
The cape he had was taken off and hung up then stepped into the teleporter. Fingers tapped away and punched in coordinates that were displayed in Troobian. After a few seconds, he disappeared and left the brunette on the ship.
