~1 week later; Thanksgiving Break ended~

Katniss's P.O.V.

Clove, Gale, Marvel, Cato and I got back from backpacking yesterday. School is in again tomorrow and I'm actually ready for it. After having spent time with my friends, I'm back into reality.  No more nonsense and thinking about my supposed "past" life. I sit in my room and look through all the pictures I took on the trip. A lot of the pictures are of nature, but some of it is me and my friends goofing off and enjoying each other's company.  There is a knock on my door. I put my camera down.

"Katniss you should probably go to bed. It's late." My mother says.

"Okay. I will." I say. I get up and turn off the light. I climb back into my bed and lay my head down. It doesn't take long at all for me to drift off into the realm of dreams.

*Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep* is the sound my alarm clock makes. 'Must be 6:22 already.' I think. My eyes open and I see my clock reads 6:22. I should probably get up. But I'm too comfortable. But I should probably get up anyways. I stretch and then walk over to my vanity. My hair is a mess, but I'll do it later. I go rummage through my closet and find something to wear. I pick out a white sweater and black leggings with a plaid scarf, and I put on some boots. I just put on mascara and eyeliner and lip gloss. I don't do my hair, I just put it in a messy bun. Prim is ready and waiting for me in the living room.

"Ready to go?"

"Yeah."
I grab my keys and we head off to school.

My friends and I hang out for a while before school.

"Is anyone else sore?" I ask.

"Well backpacking will do that to you." Clove says.

"Too bad we're here and not still backpacking." Marvel says.

The bell rings and we all go our separate ways. I have English first and that's always fun right? The teacher calls roll.

"Okay. So we're going to have a project. You're all already assigned to work with someone so don't pick. You and your assigned person will be doing a reading and writing project." She explains. She calls everyone and then she calls me.

"Okay Katniss, you'll be working with Peeta."

I can feel my heart stop.

"Okay everyone get together and decide what you want to do." She says.

Everyone starts to move but I stay frozen in my seat. I can't believe she put me with him. Since I don't come to him, he comes over and sits next to me.

"Hey Katniss."

"Hi."

"Do you have a book in particular you want to use?" He asks.

"No not really." I say.

We both sit in silence for a moment.

"Are you sure you'll be fine to work with me?" He asks.

"Uh.... yeah. I'm fine." 

"Well I have a book so..... want to work on it later?"

"Sure. Like during or after school?" I ask.

"After would work better for me." He says.

"Same for me." I say.

'Lets hope your bitch of a girlfriend doesn't find out.' I think.

"Well see you then I guess."

"Yeah. See you then." I say.

The bell rings. Everyone starts to leave. I gather my stuff and then go. I see Clove and I go talk to her.

"Clove."

"Hey Kat."

"Clove you're not going to believe this. I actually talked to him." I say.

"Really?" She asks.

"Yeah. We were assigned to do this thing for English and we have to work together."

"You didn't freak him out did you?" She asks.

"No I didn't. At least I don't think so." I say.

"Well just keep it that way. Just work together and just keep it at that."

"I will. Or at least try." I say.

"Good. See you later Kat."

"Bye Clove." I say.

Peeta's P.O.V.

Katniss and I are now partners for English. It's weird. I didn't feel weird talking to her. I guess she figured herself out finally. I hate to say it but I feel for her again. Not like a friend, but like.......But I shouldn't. I have Glimmer. If she found out, that would be hell. Speaking of Glimmer. She comes in and sits next to me.

"Hi baby!" She says.

"Hey."

She rest her head on my shoulder.

"Should we go out today?" She asks.

"We were together all Thanksgiving break." I say.

"But I love you. And want to spend time with you." She pouts and folds her arms.

"I have to work on a school thing tonight."

"Okay. Then after we will." She says.

"Fine."

"Yay! Love you."

I told Katniss to come over at 6:30. Glimmer is coming over too so I have to find a way for them not to see each other. Hell would break loose if Glimmer saw me with her.

*Knock, Knock* I go answer the door.

"Hi Peeta."

"Hi Katniss. Come on in." I say.

"I broght my laptop in case we finish and then we write." She says.

"Okay sounds good." I say.  "We may not get through a lot."

"Oh. Well that's fine." She says.

We both sit on my couch. I had her a book and then we start to read.

"Did you find anything yet?" I ask after a while.

"A few things but not anything big."

"I haven't." I say.

"Maybe you aren't reading it." She teases.

"Ha-ha Katniss."

She laughs.

"What did you do for the break?"

"Katniss we're supposed to read." I say.

"What did you do for the break?" She asks again.

"I hung out with Glimmer." I say.

"Fun. Fun." She says sarcastically.

"Yeah."

"Wait, did you not have fun?" She asks and closes the book.

"Well I did but she's just a..."

"A bitch?" She asks.

"Yeah kinda." I say.

"Well if you don't love her than don't be with her." She says.

"I don't want to. But the only other person I want to be with doesn't want to be with me!" I day getting upset.

"And who is that?" She asks me.

"YOU!!"

She puts the book on the table and then kisses me.

"Peeta Mellark!!! What the hell are you doing?!!" Glimmer yells.

I pull away from Katniss.

"Katniss you messed with the wrong girl!" She says.

"You don't scare me Glimmer. You don't even love him and I do!!"

"How dare you!! Of course I love him. How could he love you? You're just an unstable girl who can't figure herself out!!" Glimmer yells at her.

"I'll finish the project on my own Peeta." She takes her things and leaves. And leaves with a piece of me too.
