Prologue
Although it was near the end of Leaf-bare, there was an awful snowstorm. It was impossible to find shelter while everything was white. It was stupid of her to not realize a storm was coming, and to go hunting right before it. She was close to freezing to death.
But there was something through all the white, cold, wet snow. Another cat. What were they doing in the storm? That was a mouse-brained mistake. Yet she still felt like she needed to go closer to the cat. Perhaps to help them? Or for them to help her?
"What are you doing in ShadowClan?" The cat asked, which she could now tell was a she-cat, she had her claws unsheathed but her tone was more questioning. Was she going to hurt her or not? Why'd she have to be so confusing?
It was her chance to speak, "Who are you?" she asked.
"Why should I tell you? It's not like we'd meet each other again." She hissed, "Though it won't hurt. Brindlestar is my name."
"Brindlestar?" She repeated, "Aren't you a leader or something? What are you doing in the worst storm of Leaf-bare?"
"Shouldn't I be asking you that?" Brindlestar meowed, "I'm simply looking for a kit, since no other cat dared to go out in this weather."
She paused, trying to figure out if that was a lie. Well, what other reason would she be out here? She wouldn't go out for no reason surely.
"So, I told you why I'm here, why are you?" Brindlestar repeated, seeming to get impatient.
"I'm lost." She mumbled. Embarrassed to admit it. But she was absolutely clueless where in ShadowClan was she.
"Lost? Well, I'm not surprised." Brindlestar sort of laughed, "I don't know where your home is but I can surely take you back to ShadowClan."
"Is it dangerous?" She asked, "Will they kill me?"
Brindlestar sighed, "Of course not! My warriors are respectful, they wouldn't kill a dying cat that seemed to be doing nothing wrong, but just lost."
"What about the kit you were looking for?" She reminded.
"That you will help me with." Brindlestar told her, "It's good enough, and then if you want you could join us."
"I don't think I want to join you." But Brindlestar was already returning to looking for the kit.
She ran to catch up, "Wait! What does the kit even look like?"
"She is a silverish gray." Brindlestar told her, "Her name is Moonkit."
"Moonkit?" she repeated, "I heard someone saying Moonkit not too long ago."
Brindlestar turned her head, quickly asking in a serious tone, "Where? Tell me where you found her? We can save her if it's not too late."
"Uh, back near the thunderpath." She explained, quickly looking around. She could hear monsters roaring in the distance, although she could barely see. She ran towards the loud noise, Brindlestar following her.
"Are you sure they said Moonkit?" Brindlestar asked worriedly.
"Yes, it was another kit voice saying her name. They were sort of giggling. Anyways, I know I'm correct." She explained. As she skidded to a stop in front of the awful smelling things that have claimed many lives.
She also heard whimpering.
It was weak, kind of hard to hear. But it wasn't just her mind, it was an actual kit whimpering in pain, she had to find her.
"Moonkit?" Brindlestar cried out as she searched through the snow quickly with fear scent all over her. She would've pointed that out but kept on looking.
Suddenly she saw two silver scraps of fur under a juniper bush, "Over here! The juniper bush!" She called out to the tortoiseshell who was farther away. She shook the snow off to reveal the scared faces of the two kits.
"Moonkit!" Brindlestar sighed with relief, "and who's the other kit? She isn't ShadowClan, and has a ThunderClan smell..."
"Silverkit!" Moonkit beamed, smiling proudly, "She's my friend!"
Silverkit smiled softly, despite shivering so much. The she curled her white fluffy tail around the kits. Hoping that warmed them a bit.
"I guess we should-"
"SILVERKIT?!" Cried out an anxious she-cat, carefully running across the thunderpath, "I hear you, stay where you are!"
The she stared at the two cats, her eyes widened, "Hello... I'm sorry, I lost my kit..."
"Silverkit? She's right here." The white she smiled, trying to help.
"Silverkit! Don't run off like that!" The she cried, picking up her kit, "Thank you so much ShadowClan! I'll pay you back soon!" She ran off.
Brindlestar watched the she walk off, getting ready to cross the thunderpath. Then turned back to her.
"You're a kind cat." Brindlestar told her, "We need more cats like you in the clan. Do you still say no?"
"I say I'll join your clan." She purred as she picked up Moonkit, who was shivering uncontrollably, "but now we need to take her back."
(A/N: I kind of rushed, but how'd you like it?)
