Chapter Twelve ➳

It was about eight in the morning when Bill woke up, only somewhat well rested. He spent almost half an hour forcing Dipper to sleep on the floor, far away from him. But it was time to wake up and face what he had brought into reality. Bill sat up, yawning, and looked over at the floor where the brunette was supposed to be. Thankfully, he was still on the wooden boards. But he wasn't sleeping.

Dipper had his shirt lifted up and he was examining his stomach in amazement and confusion. He continuously poked the skin, eyebrows furrowed like he couldn't process why he had a stomach.

"What are you doing?" Bill asked, slightly amused since Dipper seemed so young and mindless at the moment.

The teen snapped his head in Bill's direction, eyes wide. His face lightly turned red before he yanked his shirt down. "Nothing," he answered quickly, averting his gaze.

Bill was pretty shocked to see Dipper get so easily embarrassed. Wasn't he supposed to be an all powerful demon and not a blushy teen? "What's so interesting about your stomach?"

Dipper turned back to Bill, his face regaining its stone cold appearance. "I didn't have one before, remember?" he growled.

The blonde dropped his gaze. "Oh, right." There was a long awkward silence before he spoke again. "Does it feel weird to have one?"

The brunette blinked a couple times as if he were registering the question. "Yes."

"What about being human?" he continued to ask questions.

Dipper's eyes sparked with momentary anger. "It's strange as well."

Bill slid off his bed, dropping onto the floor and Dipper looked the other boy up and down questioningly. "How does it feel to be magic-less or whatever?"

Dipper narrowed his gaze. "It's annoying," he muttered. "But, it's necessary."

The blonde didn't bother asking Dipper about his intentions so he just nodded and stood up and went to Will's bed. "Hey," Bill whispered, "time to wake up."

Will stirred and stretched out his skinny arms. "Already?"

Bill nodded and handed Will a glass of water and the pills silently.

The shy twin took them after a moment of glaring at them and swallowed the pills. "So, are y-you going to t-tell me about th-this Dipper guy?" he asked immediately and looked around Bill to catch sight of the boy.

Bill silently cursed Will. "There's nothing to tell," he growled.

Will shot a glare at Dipper. "Y-you said we're going t-to the p-park today. Is h-he coming too, o-or something?"

Crap, Bill thought. He had completely forgotten. "Um... Yes we're going and-"

"Of course I'm coming," Dipper said, smiling.

Both Will and Bill sighed heavily.

"Ok," Will pouted, getting out of bed.

"Do not screw this up," Bill spat quietly to Dipper.

Dipper chuckled and responded, "Now, why would I do that?"

Bill shot Dipper a warning glare and turned to Will. "Hurry up, we need to get out before Grunkle Stan forces us to clean the gift shop or shoplift sugar cubes or something."

Will chuckled, slipping on his shoes and racing out after the other two boys.

"Are you going to ask Will about his secret?" Dipper asked sneakily, obviously digging for some conflict.

"Of course not," Bill said angrily. "For all I know, you could be lying, so why bother?"

Dipper gave the blonde a disapproving look as they exited the shack.

"Sl-slow down guys!" Will called out, struggling to catch up.

Bill didn't hesitate to drop back and leave Dipper. He desperatley wanted to tell his twin about his whole demon problem and that Dipper was one of them, but he couldn't. The boy had to keep his shy brother safe at all costs. He didn't know what he'd do to himself if Will got hurt or worse, no matter how much the twin annoyed him. "Hey, you don't have to try and get along with Dipper, ok? In fact, just ignore him."

Will shot the blonde a baffled look. "W-why? What's wrong w-with him?"

Bill lowered his eyelids in annoyance. "Just do what I say, William," he said Will's full name to enforce his sense of authority and seriousness.

The blue-haired twin sighed heavily. "Th-then why are y-you bringing h-him along?"

His brother cringed, putting on a fake, but not persuasive, smile. "Because he's my friend, duh."

An arm was suddenly slung around Bill's neck and draped over the boy's shoulder. "Talking about me, are we?" Dipper chirped, a smirk engraved on his lips.

The blonde growled low in his throat, side-glancing Dipper a death stare. "Indeed," he hissed hatefully. Maybe torture would have been the better route to take?

Dipper was severely annoying the other boy with so much physical contact that Bill was tempted to slap the demon across the face with "the talk" so Dipper would back off out of sheer embarassment. But Bill wasn't willing to sacrafice himself to humilitation and embarassment. All he was able to do was engage in a sharp staring contest, but when Dipper made some obscene gestures Bill grew enraged and threw the other boy's arm off, storming away from the completely irritating demon.

The walk to the park was supposed to be short, but it still managed to be uncomfortable. Bill did his best to say nothing to Dipper to avoid any "events", but that resulted in the blonde not saying a word to Will. Eventually, Will would snap. And he did. Bill could see Will getting severely and unecassarily uncomfortable and nervous. He hated silence, and a dead one was the worse. "Um, D-Dipper," he started off somewhat shyly and the demon looked up immediatley, "are y-you always going t-to be sleeping at o-our house?" Will asked.

Dipper's smirk was still relevant and permantley on his smug little face. "Absolutley! Hanging out with Bill is the best!" To add emphasis to his words, he grabbed the blonde's arm and shook him violently, sticking his tongue out.

Bill grimaced angrily amd tried to desperatley yank himself out of the demon's iron grip. Did this kid have super strength, because the look on Dipper's face said, "you're never getting out of this, kid,". Bill hid the look of terror that was threatening to creep on. Bringing a demon into reality...genius... "Yeah, sure, whatever," Bill grumbled, glancing away.

Dipper continued smirking, obviously triumphant, and released Bill. The blonde couldn't believe that only recently he found Dipper looking innocent and adorable, poking his stomach. He was a demon for Christ's sake, it was probably just an act. Dipper was trying to get into Bill's head. "Aw, you think I'm innocent and adorable? How sweet yet niave of you."

Bill stiffened up, a jolt of shock racing through him. Did he just read my thoughts...? he wondered in horror. He thought Dipper didn't have any magic.

At least I retianed one of my most beloved powers, Dipper spoke into his mind and Bill made sure his face didn't reveal any emotion to his brother. Don't worry, BT, we'll be having fun today. It's time I tested out this newly acquired human body.

Bill didn't bother responding to the psychotic demon and marched ahead, catching Will throwing back a couple confused glances and the blonde realized he had to answer what Dipper said in reality. "No I do not," the teen spat irritably.

Dipper raised an eyebrow. "Hm, I don't know how sure you are, but we'll test that out soon enough."

"Oh, crap..." Bill whispered, seeing that he shouldn't have even spoken in the first place.

"Bill!" Will exclaimed excitedly. "We're here!"

The blonde exhaled softly, shaking his head. "Ok, I'm coming, hold on," he responded and ran after his brother. At least we're not hanging out at the cemetary.

The playground was small and old, but there was a long cement pathway that wound around it and went deeper into the forest so you could ride the rental bikes. There were only two other kids, presumably brother and sister, playing on the slides at the moment. There was a seesaw and a pair of rusty swings. A small castle-designed play house was set up where monkey bars and two slides branches off into the sand.

"Go ahead, Will. Knock yourself out!" Bill called before biting his lip. "Not literally, though!"

Will laughed as he ran to the swing and leapt onto one perkily.

"You going to join him, Pines?" Dipper asked snarkily, both hands placed on his hips.

Bill turned around to face the demon and took a chance to size up the other boy again. He only appeared to be fourteen or fifteen, but Bill joked and told himself that Dipper had the physique of a twelve-year-old. The main thing was, Dipper didn't appear to be intimidating at all in his human form. He was actually borderline cute. Then again, he could set the town into flames with a snap of his fingers. His hair was normal: thick, brown, wavy hair that had bangs that managed to barely cover up the Big Dipper mark. His eyes were regular as well, just a dark brown, but since his eyes were so big, it appeared he was constantly begging. And the clothes didn't help either, a loose red t-shirt and high, gray shorts with black tennis shoes. He appeared to fit in just fine with the rest of the crowd.

But Bill wasn't falling for his appearence.

"Probably not," he said sourly.

Dipper smiled and Bill reminded himself that it wasn't a real one. "Great! You can spend more time with me!"

The other teen didn't seem impressed. "Whoopy," he said unethusiastically.

The brunette approached Bill with his hands jammed inside his pockets. "You sure are an interesting human, Bill," Dipper said out of the blue.

Bill frowned at the demon. "So? What is that supposed to mean?"

Dipper shrugged and watched the boy's brother swing on the swings joyously. "I don't really know, you just are." He cast his gaze upon Bill, making the blonde stiffen up. "You're brother, he's a whole different story. Full of secrets, and some he doesn't even know about."

Bill's nervousness increased. "Like what?"

The Dream Demon laughed hysterically. "You really think I'd tell you and spoil the ending?!" he shouted in disbelief. "Hah! Fat chance, Triangle."

Bill paid no mind to the odd and random nicknames. "But does Will need help?" the blonde asked fearfully and proceeded to watch his innocent twin intently, full of worry.

"Why do you care?" Dipper questioned simply.

Anger sparked inside the boy. "Because I—!" he snapped off, seeing Dipper waiting patiently, a smug look painted on his face. "He's... Will's my brother," Bill ended up saying, "I have to look out for him."

Dipper looked doubtful. "Mhm, that's why. You better watch him more closely if you wanna find out what's up," the demon sneered, making Bill growl.

"And I'll do just that," Bill spat indefinitley and stomped over to the blue-haired boy.

"Have fun," Dipper cooed while the blonde left him.

Bill made his way to his brother quickly and reminded himself rapidally that he couldn't interrogate Will without giving himself away and putting his twin in danger. "Will!" Bill called out.

He was swinging up and down, back and forth, like a pendulum, on the swing. "Y-yes, Brother?!"

"Can you come down so....so I can watch you?" Bill asked awkwardly. It was an odd and out of place request, but it was necessary.

Will looked like he was going to protest and ask why, but he just sighed. "Ok, be r-right down!" And he wasn't kidding when he said that. Will leapt off the swing, surprisingly fearless for the moment, and plummeted downward.

Bill had no time to react, because his brother had already slammed into him, plowing the blonde into the sand. Will almost did a reverse summersault before his legs flopped down on Bill's, his face buried in the blonde twin's chest. Bill sat there too, stunned at the moment before regaining a sense of awareness. He lightly jabbed Will's head with his finger. "Will?" he managed to get out. "Are you alright?"

Will lifted up his face, sighing heavily and his face was beat red. "Y-yes," he stammered nervously.

Bill blinked in surprise at the amount of blush on his brother's face. "Whoa, are you sick or something?"

The blue-haired teen curled his fingers in Bill's sweater. "No! Why w-would you say th-that?!"

"You're burning up," Bill stated, feeling his twin's cheeks and Will scrambled away. He went and stood up before gravity pulled him down. The blonde managed to laugh at him before trying his best to shove his pride aside and help the young boy up. "Can I ask you something, Will?" Bill inquired.

Will shrugged after a moments hesitation. "Uh, s-sure?"

Bill exhaled. "Are you keeping a secret from me?" he said straight forward.

There was a long moment of silence before Will even uttered a word. "No...y-you know everything a-about me..."

The blonde wouldn't take it. "Will, tell the truth."

He panicked slightly. "I am!" Will pushed his twin away. "I-I'm not l-lying to you, ok?!" His face was even more red than before, if that was even possible. "I'm g-going to go p-play some more," he whispered quickly before he marched away from his confused and angry brother.

Bill clenched his hands into fists, irate since he didn't get any of the information that had wanted. But then he felt someone staring at him. That feeling made him whip around to find Dipper staring directly at him. A sense of uneasiness settled over him when the demon kept his sight locked upon him. Dipper didn't really seem to understand the words weird and uncomfortable, because he stared at Bill like that longer than what was needed. But Bill knew why, somewhat. Dipper saw the blonde asking his brother about his secrets. Bill couldn't show he was desperate, because that would then turn into a weakness.

"What is it, Dipper?" Bill growled as he approached the boy.

Dipper smiled, turning slightly on his heel. "Ooooh, nothing," he chuckled and the smile seemed so sincere and childish that Bill was struggling to tell himself that this kid was a demon.

"What's with this act you have on?" Bill questioned irritated.

Dipper pouted and Bill told himself Dipper was shoving his pride aside to hold up this facade. "What act, BT?"

He crossed his arms in frusteration. "This one. This innocent act, ok? I'm not stupid. I'm not falling for it."

The demon's dark eyes flashed with amusement for a single moment. "Callling me innocent? Really?"

Bill dropped his arms, now baffled. Dipper now sounded offended. "I....I am because you're acting like that!"

Now he looked deeply offended. "Acting?! This isn't acting!" Blush rushed to his face. "You mean you're sincerely calling me cute?!" He crossed his arms angrily. "I'm an all powerful demon!"

The blonde was so confused now. He honestly thought it was all an act. "Wait, you're saying this is actually you?"

More embarassment colored Dipper's face. ".... Yes..."

A moment of silence was drawn out between the two boys.

The demon glanced at the blonde, red faced. "You think I'm cute?"

Bill threw up his hands. "NO!" And with that he stormed away in a huff.

Dipper's little act dropped as soon as Bill looked away and he chuckled to himself. "Confusing BT will be easier than I thought..."
