Chapter Thirteen ➳
After desperatley attempting to avoid Dipper for ten minutes, Bill gave up. He hated the demon even more than he did before and the hatred was still accumulating. Bill tried to use Will as an excuse to leave the brunette, but his twin was still angry about being questioned. So he was left vulnerable. At the moment, Bill sat on a bench, head in his hands and a irritated expression screwed on his face. Dipper sat at the exact opposite side of the bench since Bill didn't allow anything closer.
"Hey, Bill?" Dipper asked meekly and the blonde wanted to punch him for acting so mindless.
"What?" he hissed reluctantly.
Dipper crossed his legs, squirming in the seat. "Can we get ice cream?"
Bill sat up slowly, so inexplicably baffled that he remained wordless for almost a minute. "You....what...?"
He smiled sheepishly. "Ice cream?"
Bill was quiet again. "You're serious?"
"Yes," Dipper's gaze turned sharp.
"Oh," he sighed, shaking his head. He has to be faking! It makes no sense!
Dipper grew annoyed. "I'm not faking."
Bill groaned. "Stop reading my mind."
The brunette simply shrugged. "I'll do what I want. Plus, your thoughts are really loud."
The other teen got up and began walking over to the more populated side of the park where rental bikes were held and, yes, an ice cream cart just for Dipper (not really though). Dipper jogged after Bill and was tempted to take his hand, but the brunette knew that was pushing it, even for him. He had to make this act at least believable. Bill approached the stand, sighing, and pulled out some cash that he had.
"Hey, boys," the stand runner said kindly, "how is your day going?"
"Great," Bill lied bluntly to him. "I'll have a vanilla ice cream thing." He shook his head, wanting to face-palm.
"And what does your little brother want?" the man asked.
The two teens went ridged and Dipper felt anger kindle inside him.
Dipper hid his feelings. Little brother?! I'm not little! I'm just shorter than him...by a lot. I'm older than this pitiful human!!! But on the outside he only laughed. "I'll have a fudge-cycle."
Bill interjected. "He's not my little brother! In fact I hate him!"
The man's cheerful demeanor vanished as he cast Bill a strange look. "That'll be eight dollars..."
The blonde swallowed nervously while Dipper kept up his act quite well. "Um...here," he whispered while he handed off the cash. The man delivered the ice cream to them and Dipper took it giddily. Bill took his ice cream less enthusiastically. Dipper realized his attempts weren't really working on Bill and decided to try at some different angles. Was Bill just surrounded by this dark impenetrable cloud of anger? Dipper's mind swarmed with ideas till he grasped the probably worst and most effective one. But the demon still wanted to have fun in the process too.
"Let's go back to the bench," Dipper suggested, trying to act as kind as he could muster even though it made him want to hurl, being kind to a human.
Bill nodded, obviously not pleased, and followed the shorter boy back to where they had been seated. The blonde felt bad for not getting Will an ice cream, but they could get one afterward for him if he really needed it. Dipper sat down, this time right next to Bill, and peeled open the wrapper.
"You know," the teen started off in a small voice, "I've never had ice cream before."
Bill shrugged, obviously having assumed that he hadn't had ice cream before already. "Well, it tastes good," he said, unaware of what Dipper was trying to plan.
Even though Dipper was absolutley and completely oblivious to anything sexual or relating to that, he knew how to make humans uncomfortable. And that was all he needed right now; that knowledge and his faked innocence. "Oh," he said and eyed the choclate ice cream bar in his hands, "do you eat it like this?" and he dragged his tongue up along it.
At first Bill was busy biting off a piece of his own ice cream to notice, but when he turned to Dipper he did a double take at Dipper's notions. "I— uh..." his face heated up and that made him angrier. "N-no, that's definitley not how you eat ice cream! I mean you could, but it's a little....odd...."
Dipper hid is smirk, knowing he hit a bulls-eye. He hummed, "Oh, really?"
The blonde frowned at him. "Yes."
He proceeded his actions with the ice cream and Bill grimaced.
"Just bite it off," Bill spat, not really understanding why he was feeling uncomfortable at all.
Dipper pouted, blinking a couple times. "Can I try some of your ice cream? It looks better than mine."
The other boy's gut told him something fishy was going on, but his observances of Dipper made him doubt it. "I'd prefer you didn't," Bill scoffed, eyeing the brunette studiously.
The smirk tugged at Dipper's lips. "I didn't near a no!" He leaned over an licked all the way up the bar, making Bill squeamish and then angry yet again. "Mhm, good!"
Bill shoved him away. "Kay, kid, keep a distance."
Dipper did not like being called kid. "Kid?!" he repeated in disbelief. "Well, look who's talking!"
Bill flinched back, getting a shock-worthy reminder that the stupid boy was a Dream Demon.
"I'm the trillion-year-old demon, not you!" Dipper clenched hard onto the wooden stick that held the ice cream.
The blonde suddenly laughed, catching Dipper off guard. "Sorry," he apologized, "it's hard to take you serious when you look like a twelve-year-old with an ice cream stick."
Dipper's face turned red, unintentionally this time, and he slammed the treat onto the ground. "How about now?!"
Bill was on a roll and continued laughing. The human teen knew Dipper was basically powerless in reality, so what was to worry about at the moment? "Sorry, Dipper."
The Dream Demon bit his bottom lip. "Stop laughing! You're supposed to fear me!"
Bill shrugged, shaking his head. "Look, if this is you, you're gonna have to accept it. Not like you can change anything."
Dipper now felt horrified and angry. Screw the original plan, he wanted to be feared again! He was now desperatley searching for a way to regain his title. "I....uh... UGH!" He stood up on the bench so he could appear taller than Bill. He could have sworn he was taller than the stupid mortal when he had his demon form. "Ok, forget it," he snarled, "let's ride bikes or something. I'm not gonna sit here and rot."
Bill seemed to have gained a new found confidence around the previous demon. "Chill, we'll ride bikes if it'll make you stop screaming in my ear."
Dipper almost asked what he was going to do about Will, but thought better of it since he didn't want to spend time with the blue twerp anyways. "Kay, go."
The blonde stood up, rolling his eyes, and walked back to where the ice cream cart was and a little farther so he could rent two bikes. The last thing he wanted to do was go biking, but anything to shut the demon up for a while. He gave the the man four dollars and rolled the bikes away from the locks and held the yellow one out to Dipper. The boy made a face and said, "I want the blue one, BT."
Bill sighed and traded the bikes. He swung a leg over and sat up on the seat before he glanced at Dipper. The brunette was struggling furiously with the bike. He tried to steady it and hop on it, but the bike would then tip over and he'd let out a squeak of distress. Bill started laughing again while he hopped back off his own bike. "You need some help, Dipper?" he asked between chuckles.
Dipper growled, throwing the bike on the ground. "It won't listen to me! FUCK THIS USELESS PIECE OF SHIT!"
Bill went white and threw himself at Dipper amd covered up his mouth and whisper-screamed at him. "Dipper! You cannot talk like that, Jesus Christ!"
The demon shoved Bill's hands away. "Pft, why?"
"That is nasty language, ok? Little kids don't talk like that!" Bill glanced around to see some other kids and parents giving the two of them some confused and disapproving looks.
"I am not little," the brunette spat venimously.
"But they don't know that," Bill whispered in return. "Just...don't..."
Dipper finally nodded reluctantly just to get Bill to leave him alone.
"Here," the blonde said quietly and picked up the bike, "let me help you."
Dipper exhaled deeply, clearly annoyed, and approached it. "Ok, fine, what do I do?"
Bill tried to smile sincerely. "So, first, you are going to get on the bike and I'll hold it for you."
The Dream Demon nodded stiffly as he crawled onto the seat nervously and it shook slightly at his actions, making Dipper cling for dear life on the handle bars. "This object of transportation is rickety and unsafe!" he exclaimed.
"Just call it a bike," Bill chuckled. "And, it is supposed to be like this. You have to move your feet on the pedals to go forward and momentum with bring you forward and keep you center. It's easier to stay upright if your moving."
Dipper absorbed all this "useless" information and nodded again. "Kay...I'm going to try."
Bill sighed and gave him and little shove forward. The demon tried to pedal and succeeded for about two seconds before the bike started to wobble amd swerve.
"Oh— Bill, CATCH ME!" Dipper cried, losing control of the bike.
Bill ran forward, only half caring, and pratically dove to catch the idiot as he fell onto the grass and the bike skidded off in the complete opposite direction. "God, you're retarded. It's not that hard!" Bill grumbled. "You just have to pedal faster, or at least pedal in general."
Dipper threw Bill's arms away, creating a distance between them. "I can't do this!"
The blonde rolled his eyes. "Yes, you can."
After about seven more failed tries with Dipper screaming, falling and beating up the bike, progress began to accumulate. Dipper hopped on the bike again, utterly furious, and Bill held him up on the seat by the waist.
"Can I push you now?" Bill asked.
Dipper glanced over at Bill with an angry yet determined look. "Yeah."
The blonde shoved him forward and Dipper began pedaling, faster and faster. He suddenly cheered happily when he made it past his farthest mark. "BT! Look!" he called rather childishly, not caring to notice.
Bill ran after him, laughing lightly. "You're doing it, man!"
Dipper made the mistake of looking over at Bill to smile when his tire swerved to the right and basically ran Bill over. The blonde let out a gasp as he leapt backwards and, on instinct, Dipper abandoned his bike and slammed into Bill and the both of them, including the bike, crashed to the ground. Seriously, how many more people were going to knock Bill to the ground? Dipper grabbed Bill's sweater, with Bill still in it, and screamed into it out of frusteration.
"I'M GOING TO INCINERATE THAT BIKE!" his muffled voice screeched and Bill tried his best to lean away.
"Hey, Dipper, it's ok." He shifted his gaze away awkwardly, not knowing exactly what to say to comfort the demon. "You, uh, did good this time."
Dipper brought his face out of Bill's sweater, seething. "No. It's not ok. I'm done with bikes. Done!"
Bill hid his huff of laughter. "Ok, then."
Will had watched the whole thing take place, unknown to Dipper and Bill. He frowned and felt a horribly familiar feeling twist inside him and he had to make sure he calmed down. The shy twin walked up to them and his shadow cast over then, making Dipper look up from lying on Bill. Dipper then smirked at the blue-haired boy. "Hey, William," he said slyly and Will's distrusts signals were blaring.
"H-hi, Dipper," he said in an almost stone-like tone, well, as stone like as Will could muster up and the stutter didn't help.
Bill tilted his head back and pushed Dipper off of him. "Hey, Will. Having fun?" he asked hopefully since he didn't want to hear Will complaining the whole way home.
The teen nodded. "Yeah. W-what are you d-doing?"
Bill sighed, wondering why he had to get right on that topic. "Um... I was teaching Dipper how to ride a bike..."
Will cocked an eyebrow. "Are y-you sure you were t-teaching him how to r-ride a bike?"
The blue-haired boys insinuation went right over Dipper's head, but it smacked Bill in the face, making his lips part in horror and shock. "YES I'M SURE!" he screamed, hiding his embarassed face.
Dipper had no idea what was going on, but shrugged. "He was teaching me how to ride a bike."
The blonde silently thanked Dipper for speaking up, and for his innocence or Dipper would have surely laughed instead. "Just ignore Will, Dipper," he mumbled, face in his hands.
Will sighed heavily. "I-I wanna go h-home," he said suddenly.
Bill turned to Dipper, almost upset they were going to be going home already. He did have fun, somewhat, teaching the demon how to ride a bike. "Oh...are you sure? You don't want to keep hanging—?"
"No." He actually now looked quite upset and he was shaking, that made Bill stand right up and he felt out of character at the moment.
"What's wr—?"
"N-nothing!" he screamed, interrupting him again and spun around hotly.
Bill glanced at Dipper for a quick look. "I...I have to... One second, Dipper."
Dipper was watching Will run away with high interest before he focused on the blonde. "Ok."
The teen nodded before he ran after his twin worriedly, baffled at Will's sudden change of emotion. "Will, Will!" he exclaimed and grabbed the boy's wrist. "What's wrong?"
Will turned around and there were tears in his eyes and were streaming down his face. "Because I-I came here t-to spend time with y-you!" He tried to stop the tears, but they kept coming. "And a-all you did was h-hang out with Dipper!" The blue-haired boy used his free hand to wipe his face. "It's n-not fair!"
Bill studied his twin carefully. "Did it really bother you that much?" The blonde would usually pick on Will about being oversenative, but right now was not the right time.
He nodded, sniffiling. "A bit," he grumbled.
Bill didn't know what else to do, so he embraced him in a hug, frowning. What had gotten to Will's head to make him cry so suddenly. But then again, he was always a cry baby. "Hey, tomorrow I will try hard to spend more time with you...or whatever," he trailed off at the end, not really good with the whole compassion thing.
Will returned the gesture. "I-I just don't l-like him," he said into Bill's chest.
He felt bad for his twin since he was keeping a huge secret from his brother. "Sorry," was all he knew what to say.
Even when Dipper wasn't doing anything, he still managed to rip Bill's life apart.
