the sun shone through the tall, glass windows of the woodshade cafe, creating a warming feel in the winter weather.

sasha had been busy all morning with orders from grumpy people trying to get their coffee before work, but one o clock was approaching, meaning the rush would calm down a bit.

she wiped down the counter from the drops of spilled coffee and sighed hearing the old fashioned bells at the door ring.

another customer

she looked up to meet those same chocolate brown eyes that'd made her day yesterday. she couldn't help but smile.

behind the man was another. he was broader and a bit taller.

"hey baby!" the blonde girl cheered from beside sasha.

"hey char!" the bigger man smiled, immediately walking over to the counter and pulling charlotte in for a kiss.

sasha stood awkwardly, playing with her fingers as she awaited the guy from yesterday to walk up to her.

"this is sasha, she's new," charlotte pulled sasha in front of her, embarrassing the girl. she was never good at greetings.

"hey," she said softly, giving the two men a small wave.

"this guy right here is my boyfriend, roman and the one beside him is one of my best friend's, seth," charlotte explained.

sasha nodded.

his name is seth...interesting

"we come here a lot so get used to us sasha," roman chuckled before accepting the donut charlotte had handed him.

seth and roman went to sit down at a table not too far from the counter as charlotte fixed her apron.

"you're so awkward," charlotte giggled, lightly punching sasha's shoulder.

sasha's face flushed red with embarrassment. she knew she was awkward, it wasn't something she could help.

"sorry," she mumbled, slightly biting his bottom lip.

"no, no your good. in fact, i think seth finds it cute, but you didn't hear it from me," she whispered before going to help another customer.

sasha's eyes lit up at the thought of seth thinking she was cute. she didn't know what these feelings were or why she was so invested in a guy she had just met.

"hey blue, come here!"

she snapped out of her thoughts to see roman waving her over.

she arrived at their table making eye contact with seth for a few short moments before looking over to roman.

"when did you move here? i'm just asking because not many people move here, it's usually the other way around."

"about a week ago," she replied in her naturally quiet tone.

"you don't speak much do you?" roman asked with a chuckle at the end.

sasha was mentally kicking herself. the first thing anybody ever noticed about her was her shyness.

she shook her head with a sigh.

"well that's alright. once you spend time with us you will never stop talking," seth laughed.

sasha smiled at his laughter. she admired the way the winter sun hit his face, creating a glow on his skin. his chocolate brown eyes glistened, like they were filled with sparkles. he was dreamy.

stop staring

"sasha, your mom is here!" charlotte called from counter. sasha lifted her head to see her mother deeply invested in a conversation with charlotte.

"hey mama," sasha greeted, pulling her mom into a hug. she relaxed in her mother's warm embrace that'd always made her happy ever since she was a little girl.

"hey darling. how is work going?" she asked.

"good i guess," sasha shrugged.

"i saw you with those two guys over there," her mother smirked. sasha shook her head, knowing what her mom was thinking.

"i was just talking," she mumbled, "plus one of them is taken."

sasha looked back over to their table, noticing that charlotte was now seated with them, talking to roman while seth seemed to be interested in her and her mother's conversation.

she blushed at his gaze.

"how was your first day?" sasha asked.

"oh it was wonderful. the girls in the office are so sweet, i love it there!"

sasha filled with happiness hearing her mother's response. all she wanted was for her mom to be happy. her mother was an absolute angel and deserved nothing but joy.

"that's wonderful mama, i'm so happy!" she pulled her mom into a another quick hug before making her way behind the counter, "what would you like for lunch?"

"an iced tea and a sandwich sounds nice."

"can you please just try! i really really like her!" seth begged, clasping his hands together as if he were praying.

charlotte scoffed and rolled her eyes, "seth, do it yourself."

he groaned, crossing his arms over his chest, "please! all you have to do is mention that i think she's cute and then give her my number."

"would you two shut up, i'm trying to watch this movie," roman groaned, grabbing the remote and turning up the volume.

seth grabbed a handful of popcorn from the bowl beside him and threw half at roman and half at charlotte.

"rollins, why did i ever agree to being your roommate?" roman sighed, picking the popcorn off his shirt.

"because you would be completely lost without me, idiot."
